NI Orchestral Tools Sale is Back - Up to 63% Off [OVER]
Matthew Sorrels replied to Reid Rosefelt's topic in Deals
Just a reminder, this ends Monday at 11am Eastern (I think based on the clock on the website). While I think 50% will be offered again, the bundle deal is about as good as you'll ever see for these. -
New Prices on ProjectSAM Symphobia and Essentials Series
Matthew Sorrels replied to Reid Rosefelt's topic in Deals
I think it is new permanent prices. -
Most well written apps from after Windows went 32-bit should still work, but there can be issues. Microsoft spent a lot of time and effort patching Windows to handle all sorts of compatibility things (not sure how much of this is going on today though). One off bits that would make older apps run correctly. That's kind of evolved into the compatibility assistant and administrator. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/317510/how-to-use-the-compatibility-administrator-utility-in-windows It always surprises me the list of apps that Windows will add compatibility flags for automatically. Here's a list of things Windows (a HUGE list) can do to help an app out: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/planning/compatibility-fixes-for-windows-8-windows-7-and-windows-vista I don't think Apple has ever really cared. Dropping support for 32-bit apps seems very short sighted. The great irony is that many of the utility apps that developers use are likely to be tiny command line 32-bit apps, which they may or may not be able to find/build native 64-bit versions of. Which will make it harder to fix up older software, because the tools to build it won't work. The whole concept that 64-bit apps are somehow always better than 32-bit is just false. Many 64-bit ports are actually slower and use more resources than a 32-bit version would. Music software is one of the areas 64-bits does make a whole lot of sense, anything that needs to use a lot of data, but that's not true of a lot of software. Just like multi-cores/multi-threading doesn't help lots of software. Not everything can be done in parallel.

Novation Sound Collective - Puremagnetik Ambient Tools Free
Matthew Sorrels replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
It's not uncommon for plugins to be written so they use resources that other plugins and/or the DAW are also using. C/C++ runtime's usually. Sometimes that shared usage can be a problem. So by themselves they might scan and work OK, but other plugins you have (which get scanned first/before them) cause them to not work correctly. I've seen this a bunch of times. iLok protected plugins usually don't scan on the first go for me, but will work ok if you un-blacklist them. Oddly enough they only got blacklisted in Cubase for me. Cbb and (just now checking) Reaper were OK with them. Even if they were 100% stable, they aren't very good/useful/interesting/worth the time. Puremagnetik does have some nice loop/sample packs, but I'm not sure their VST products are that great. -

For me they all failed in Cubase 10's first scan and were put on the blacklist. But I was able to enable them one at a time in the plugin manager (which isn't uncommon, lots of plugins fail first scans). Once "approved" they do show up and they will open and did mostly seem to work. But they sounded bad and crashed pretty easily. So I wouldn't say completely broken, but pretty close. I'm planning to uninstall them. They just aren't worth it. -

Ez drummer 2 not following host when recording audio
Matthew Sorrels replied to ron murphy's topic in Instruments & Effects
On the EZDrummer timeline move the MIDI to match the count-in. So if you have a 1 bar count-in, start the drum track on measure 2. Or drag the MIDI out of EZDrummer and put it on a real MIDI track. This bug with the count-in is new. Cubase doesn't have this problem. Cakewalk shouldn't start the playback until after the count-in. -
I'll admit half the reason I wanted Shadow Hills was because till now only UAD had a version. That and those shinny black knobs. I'm pretty fond of the Unfiltered Audio stuff, I bought all their stuff as singles even, I really couldn't sit Lion out. The Focusrite console is the only wild card in the bunch, I didn't even demo it. Have to see if I can find a use for it.

Ez drummer 2 not following host when recording audio
Matthew Sorrels replied to ron murphy's topic in Instruments & Effects
Does it with Superior Drummer 3, Addictive Drums 2 (if you turn on Sync Play/Stop) and Rapid Composer. Pretty much anything with it's own timeline seems to start during the count-in and doesn't reset. I'd say the metronome count-in is mostly broken. Not sure what you can do other than not use a count-in or offset the music in the VST. -
Window's apps I wrote in the 90's still run fine on Windows 10.
-
Well I went ahead and did it got, Focusrite/Shadow Hills/Lion. I figure it will hold me for a long while on Plugin Alliance deals. Was it a waste of money? Sure. And now I know better deals for them will be coming up.
-
Might want to take a look at EZ Drummer 2 not working right in the new version with a metronome count-in. Not sure who's at fault, but it starts its own timeline during the count-in and is as a result off.

RAR is pretty common, not really proprietary. Also very common with music files because it can easily break into multiple pieces and compresses audio slightly better than standard zip.

Ozone 9 Released and Music Producition Suite 3
Matthew Sorrels replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
It was live when I went there, but yeah it's $199 now. Seems like it was a mistake. iZotope has removed the MPS 3 option from that Meloydyne redeem page. I send them a ticket about getting my Groove 3 code. I didn't have any trouble adding the reverbs to my iLok. I really wish iZotope would step up on their tracking of purchases a bit. I've got products registered with them back to 2003, it's kind of hard to manage at this point. And their login keeps failing, sometimes. Like crazy website issues. -

Looks like a problem with the metronome count-in. If you reduce the count-in to zero it seems synced but set it to 1 and EZ Drummer 2 starts it's play head during the count-in. -
Ozone 9 Released and Music Producition Suite 3
Matthew Sorrels replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Same result for me. And the Melodyne Serial # is the same one they gave me back with RX or maybe MPS2.1, guess you don't get more than one of those no matter what. -

So how do you get the year of Groove 3? I got a serial number for MBS 3 and two for the reverbs but nothing else. Am I missing something? -
I'd say this is a marginal deal at best, assuming you have at least a $50 voucher. Even these new plugins will sooner or later go on a flash sale that with a voucher comes down to a normal price. But that might take a long time and is kind of random. Might be worth $200 to just steer the ship and get what's worth getting. I'm pretty sure none of the plugins I'm looking at will I use all that much though. Truthfully I should punt the lot and just move on.

Neutron 3 Updated to 3.1.0 and Relay Updated to 1.03

I really hate iZotope's upgrade offer page. It's showing me 3 different deals for Ozone 9 Advanced, $299, $199, $149. Not to mention a ton of offers for the same product, products I already own. And the $399 Music Production Suite 3 Loyalty Offer has to be a joke considering I own Music Production Suite 2.1 and RX Post Production Suite 3. -
They actually put this up last night before I went to bed. But I think Bandlab Assistant sometimes fails to get the version info and instead of telling you it doesn't know, it just claims everything is current. That's kind of common on updater apps. Creates slightly less tech support issues I guess.
-
I'm actually temped to use this and my voucher to pick up the few things they released recently that I actually want. Maybe I should stay away from the keyboard and go for a walk, I must be getting sick or something. I'll admit I'm kind of confused by how to play Plugin Alliance now. I have to assume they will keep doing flash sales. But I don't think any flash sale is going to drop new $300 plugins to much under $67. Older stuff maybe, but Shadow Hills/Lion/Focusrite?
-
Did you use Bandlab Assistant to install? It definitely is different from the pre-release. About box says 2019.09 build 60. I can't remember what the pre-release was.
-
As with most Kontakt instruments that support using your own samples, it's painful to use. Though Echo Sound Works does have a nice video showing you how to do it. It's pretty much open up the instrument and replace the mapping and wave file and resave.
-
I'd say this is a great deal. The list of fixed bugs alone makes me sing! Sadly I'm way out of tune and sound like a leaking faucet. Maybe 2019.10 will help with that. ?
