Mary Has a Plan for Tonight

I tried to embed but had no luck! :(

Lyrics:

Quote

Mary has a plan for tonight
She's gonna let out the demon inside
She will take you for the ride of you life
Better hold on tight
Oh Mary has a plan for tonight
You've got nowhere to run or hide
She will take you to the highest of highs
Better hold on tight

She's here for a good time
Not a long time
A party for one
She's a loaded gun
She's here for a good time
Not a long time
In the midnight sun
She's a loaded gun

Mary has a plan for tonight
Like an angel all dressed in white
You've waited for this moment all your life
Better hold on tight, Better hold on tight
Oh Mary has a plan for tonight
You'll think everything's alright
But the love she gave could never be saved
For the morning light

She's here for a good time
Not a long time
A party for one
She's a loaded gun
She's here for a good time
Not a long time
In the midnight sun
She's a loaded gun
She's here for a good time
Not a long time
A party for one
She's a loaded gun
She's here for a good time
Not a long time
In the midnight sun
She's a loaded gun

I read the lyrics before I heard the song, I totally got the vibe wrong.  I was waiting for you to go up an octave with that beautiful voice of yours!.  Always so professional KLOON!

Thank you very much David! :)

This sounds '80's plus very modern. Love that combo. When your vocal gets to the word "tight" in the lower register, the volume dips on it just a bit. But I can still hear it.

The second verse, the snare and all it's perfectly-crafted swoosh! is just as loud or louder than your vocals. But, I still get it.

Great tune, mellow vibe, nice break at the end, and a killer mix. Plus a great lead vocal and bgv. This is a winner.

cheers,

-Tom

I really liked this one - especially your lead vocal.  The mix sounds good with plenty of depth to it. Very cool way to end it - nicely done.

Thank you very much Douglas! Nice to get a comment on the ending as well. :)

The song has a really nice atmosphere to it.
I kept expecting something to fill in the pauses but you have a bit of a minimalist approach going in the song, which I think works well.

I wanted another clue to what Mary's plan was since there's some ominous stuff  going on, but I think you intended for the listener to make up a story for themselves.

Thank you very much Bjorn for listening and your kind words!

Yeah, thats pretty much my songwriting in a nutshell. I very seldom reveal the main plot i plain words. It's always up to the listener. Personally, i find that kind of songwriting more interesting.

Very nice! Top notch production. Really first class.

What is the effect on the vocals?  A subltle vocoder?

I'm guessing that this is already out there as a single. So you can't go back to it, right?

Thank you very much for your kinds words!

No fx other than Waves Cla Vocals on the vocals.

Yes, it's already out but i welcome all feedback for future songs. :)

Hi Kloon, sorry to take so long to reply - work, work, work.

Around mark 0:48 & 1:24 for example it sounds like there might be pitch correction going on - I know that these days a lot of singers pull off that sound in their delivery, so it may just be the way you're singing.  I don't mind it, but in moderation (like Cher 'Do you Believe in Love'....OK probably not the comparison you were looking for ;) )

I love the harmonies around 3:40

My one crit is that I would have loved to have heard the song take off in another direction.  It feels like it's building up to something big, but never quite kicks off.  A soaring key change? A tempo shift?

It's a solid song though - sounds like it could be on a soundtrack.

Great job!
