Hey IRMAN,

You posted this a while a go but I wanted to do the same thing and I was able to do it.  I hope it will help you or others.

First select the midi mix as input device

Add the midimix as control surface and select  "Cakewalk generic surface"

apply and close

Then make sure cakewalk generic surface is selected and you need to open the control surface properties ( button at the bottem left)

From there I assignes all cc / notes to the function I wanted and it work.

I saved the preset and was able to find it under that path in explorer.

maybe you can try to copy the file there and avoid having to redo everything manually like I did. ( see attached file)

Note that I had some issues at first and it was not very straightforward. I had to restart cakewalk but in the end it work.

All the sliders / knob / mute / solo function works.   Bank left / right also works like it would in Ableton.  The only thing is you need to map the master fader manually. ( right click on fader->Remote Control...) the assigned controller #62

The only thing I was not able to do so far is to get the buttons to light up.

Just so you know, there's an issue with the saving of control surface presets in the 2020.08 release.

The workaround is:  After changing any presets etc a control surface dialog, go to Preferences->Control Surfaces  and change one of the MIDI ports... then change it back. This will force a save of everything.

I'm trying to get the AKAI MidiMix to work with my midi keyboard, so when I'm recording(playing in), I can adjust the Volume and Control channels 1 & 11. (sliders 1, 2 & 3).

I'm able to get the system to record the input from MidiMix, but it doesn't seem to affect the track. It's just recorded as signal.  It also records signal from all the sliders. If I look at the event list, it shows the slider controls channel 1.

During the record, I can see the track recording the signal from MidiMix. When done recording, I see the note recorded from the keyboard, so the track is getting both signals. However, it doesn't affect the play-in or play-back.

MidiMix sets the data (controller) for slider 1 to 19, and slider 2 to 23.

If I assigned the volume slider

to controller 19, it works for volume. Yet to figure out a way to control midi channel 1, controller 1 or 11.

Hi

I am also having aan issue. I set up the midimix as a controller in the prefrences tab,. both in and out as the example above, but the moinimax is not listed as a choice for the presets in the generic surfaces tab as shown above. Any ideas what's wrong?

Thank you
