Questions about the Matrix View

Recommended Posts

I have several questions about this feature:

  • Why would you use the One-shot Trigger option?  From what I can see, it just removes the option to change whether the clip loops or not, and stops it from looping.
  • How do you set up Matrix clips so that you can trigger them using a computer keyboard?
  • How do you set up Matrix clips so that you can trigger them using a MIDI device, like a Launchpad or a Digital Piano?

Thanks

1. You use One Shot, well, when you do not want the clip to loop. If you also want to perform with the Matrix, launching clips from a controller, you´ll probably want to play some clips just once.

2. I am not sure now whether you can assign specific keys directly. You navigate within the Matrix with the arrow keys, and fire them with Enter. I guess that what you want to use is the Virtual midi keyboard, that can be played from your computer keyboard. I guess that you could map it to the Matrix.

3. On how to map controllers:

Use midi learn.

With that you can trigger a single cell or a whole column.

FORGOT.  You have to turn on miditrigger with the midiicon top right.

RE: One-shot trigger
For instance, I like to use vocal samples from movies and TV shows. I don't generally want those to loop, just play once. Or perhaps play when I hold down the trigger, and stop when I release it.
There's a plethora of similar things. :D
