ESET Antivirus - Anyone use it?

Is anyone using ESET antivirus? I'm getting frequent dropouts and am trying to weed out things that may be responsible.

I doubt an antivirus program is causing your drop outs, especially with today's PC's and how streamlined antiviral programs are now.

One fast way to find out is to disable the program and see if you are still get drop outs.

But drop outs are cured by raising your ASIO or WDM buffers. That should cure it

I have ESET on my main PC, but not on my DAW.  I don't recommend having a real-time antivirus on your DAW.

Pause the real-time protection and see if you're still getting the dropouts.

If so, try running  the free utility DPC Latency Checker to identify the culprit:

I use ESET on my DAW, you can put it into "gamer mode" or as a previous poster said you can pause it.

I haven't had any audio dropouts, but most of my projects are less than a dozen tracks with a few effects on each track.

Can't raise my buffer, it's already at 1024.

I have one of the most invasive antiviruses ruining in real time while im using my DAW and i have no problems and dropouts (norton sym)

 

Todays PC's can run virus p[programs and DAWs at the same time

Sometimes the I/O buffer may be too large. Other times the condition is not addressed by altering the size of the audio buffer.

Thanks. I guess I'll have to start from scratch and investigate EVERYTHING again. I feel certain this system should be capable of running without issue (Dell XPS, i7, 16 ghz RAM, Win 10 64 bit, Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, Focusrite Octapre, 2 tb audio HDD)

I have been working on trying to get a stable setup with Cakewalk (This journey actually started with Sonar Platinum). Over the course of this, I have bought a new interface and a new computer to try to make things work properly.

scook - I have tried lower buffer settings, as well. (I monitor through an analog console so, latency does not effect me.)I have also been through all the system tweaks I have found from many sources.
