Song Association Game :D

Connection not obvious?  Songs that had what I thought were female singers when I first heard them way back when .  OK, OK.  Lets make it easier: songs from the golden age of pop that featured novelty falsetto.  OK, then, how about unbelievable use of falsetto.

Connection:  Both bands are from the late '60s:

April Wine is a Canadian rock band formed in 1969 and based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Hampton Grease Band was an American rock band, beginning as a blues rock group in the late 1960s in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

TRIVIA: The band was the lead-off band for Frank Zappa/Mothers last appearance at the Fillmore East on June 6, 1971. It was at this concert that Zappa and the Mothers recorded part of the Live at the Fillmore East album. Later that evening they were joined by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, also available in recorded versions.
