most likely not what you were looking for but this was the answer for me

https://www.liquidsonics.com/software/reverberate-3/

it can be had on sale for 50% and is well worth it imho.

32 bit might be a consideration.

It's 32 bit but this is basically the big brother of Perfect Space: https://www.voxengo.com/product/pspace/

One thing that this has going for it, that Perfect Space also has, is an offset for the start of the IR, that a lot of the other convolution reverbs don't have. I should probably get around to fixing the actual IR one day, but there's one particular one that I like to use that has a weird chirp at the start of the reverb that is easily fixed by moving the offset a couple of milliseconds later. If you don't have offset, you're kind of stuck with the IR unless you load it into a WAV editor and modify it.

I haven't used convolution reverbs in years, but if memory serves my favorite tricks with Perfect Space were 1) playing with the reverb time and amplitude envelopes, and 2) delaying the start time.

And, of course, surfing the interwebs for IRs, of which there are many and most are free to download. Note that IR files are just wav files and therefore universal to all convolution reverbs.

Not to mention using almost random samples just to see what something sounds like (I was just playing around and found that a recording of an electric drill ends up creating an amazing flanger-like sound!).

I'm still working with perfect space. Every time I open it and want to change presets, it sends me back to the documents folder and I have to drill down to the correct folder. It's a small thing but repetitive. Is there any way to keep the correct folder showing up every time I change presets? Thank you.

if the app isn't saving the last used folder - maybe create a directory junction in your documents folder (e.g. 0-PSpresets - the 0- forces it to the top when sorting in name order) so it's the first folder when you are in the documents folder.  e.g. mklink /J "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\0-PSPresets" "C:\Cakewalk Content\Common\Perfect Space Presets". doing this allows you to alias the target folder -- shortcuts don't support aliasing per se although you can rename them, the sort ordering doesn't always work as expected...

Playing with fire, there. Not recommended.

It's 32 bit, its manufacturer deprecated it long ago. It's a matter of time before it will simply stop working in Cakewalk, and other hosts as well.

For free, you can have REMatrix or MConvolutionEZ.

For pay, there's MConvolutionMB. Wait for it to come around at half price in MeldaProduction's weekly "Eternal Madness" sale. That shouldn't take more than a few months. If you're a first time buyer you can get it for under $10 by waiting for the signing up for their newsletter ($10 credit), waiting for the sale (50% off list price) and using a referral code (MELDA65032871) for another 20% off the list price.

I guarantee that MConvolutionMB will give you more control over the various parameters than you could ever use. That's just how their stuff is. It's also said to be light on resource use for a convolution.

Here's a shot with both a "device" view and some of the underlying parameters. I think it will address your "relatively few controls" issue:
