The purpose is a kind of "2 levels" MIDI controler assignment. 1st, you define some "virtual knobs (or controls)", and assign each virtual knob to a real knob of your controler. But that's not all. The purpose is to be able to very easily configure a separate MIDI assigment to each virtual Knob for each track of your project. So, without doing some manual midi chanel assignment nor changing midi chanel on your controler, your midi controler can very easily control each of your virtual intruments parameters while selecting the appropriate track. Is there something equivalent in cakewalk.
