John Vere 1,499 Posted March 12 (edited) I have over 35 original song that started life in my 8 track Tascam Cassette days in the 90's. I have attempted to re record the better ones a few times and never quite get the projects finished. The CWP files can go back as far as 2004. I started a serious attempt again in 2020 as like many of us, there was extra time due to Covid. I've been way to distracted by making tutorials however, and desided I'd had enough of that for now and started opening the project files again and deciding I'm not stopping until they are all done and mastered. At this point I have the majority of my best stuff in the can so to speak, about 14 songs, an album I guess.. I had a lot of them sounding very close back 2 years ago so it's sort of fixing stuff that I didn't like, changing instrumentation to make them fit together, and then re mixing using the better workflow I have come up with. I even made a complete series of tutorials on the re make of this first song. Many of you might have heard the rough version I posted a few months ago while videoing the process of making it. I post all the finished songs on Sound Click and proof them on different systems kicking around the house, mostly my getto blaster and bluetooth headphones on my cell phone. Now it's your turn. I'm open to mix comments big time. So I'll only post one song at a time. Your comments will be hugly appreciated. This is the home stretch for these songs and after this I promise I won't ever touch them again... Oh, well I might redo the vocals when I purchase a new mike later this month. EDIT March 25th Here is the Sound Click page as well with the whole album which I update as I go along https://soundclick.com/JohnVere Here's the latest version of the topic song with the vocals brought up a bit. https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14406697 Edited March 26 by John Vere

noynekker 377 Posted March 19 Hi John . . . this is a great song, with some well played guitar work . . . it has a very natural feel to it. I think you've played a lot of live music, and it really shows here in your recording. Looking forward to hearing the other ones you're working on !

freddy j 598 Posted March 19 (edited) Hi John. Even on my less than adequate headphones this sounds very well done. Good lyrics, arrangement, luv the guitar work (carries the song along) and the vocals (lead and harmonies) also sound good - and -- maybe just a wee bit more volume on the vocals (they deserve it). Also thanks for posting the video tutorials! Edited March 19 by freddy j
jwnicholson78 149 Posted March 20 Very well done.
John Vere 1,499 Posted March 26 (edited) Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I did turn up the vocals a bit I've moved over to mostly using Sound Click now because I can upload the whole album. It's faster to make changes as I am tweaking the songs as I listen. It's weird I don't get a notifications about replies even though it's checked to Follow?? Here's the song https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14406697 And here's the whole album https://soundclick.com/JohnVere Edited March 26 by John Vere

Jesse Screed 637 Posted March 30 John, I love country music! Your songs are great because they tell a story. I feel like I'm at the Honky Tonk. Fence reminded me of Mellencamp, until you started crooning. Man, that was nice. Great work, I wish you all the best.
Michael Richards 11 Posted April 3 Hi John, went to your Soundclick page to hear your song. I’m on your 6th or 7th song as I’m writing this with a smile. Congratulations to you. Good songs and very clean recording. Very nice job. I spent years of my life in Texas, deep in the heart of country music. Yours is very reminiscent of what used to be good storytelling music. I was trying to figure out your accent, since you don’t sound like you are from the south. I thought maybe somewhere around Montana. Then I read about you. You are from the south, about as south as you can get in British Columbia. Beautiful country. michael
kevinburns0423 7 Posted April 5 Excellent vocals and harmonies.
