Guerilla Genus 30 Posted February 25 Recently I noticed that changing or increasing the ASIO buffer size, will cause a DAW to crash (doesn't matter which DAW, I have experienced this behavior with Cakewalk, FL Studio, Cubase, and Reaper) I often have to Power the PC down and do a hard Windows restart to restore the normal ASIO driver function) would this be a Windows problem, or a USB Audio Driver issue ?? Alan Tubbs 60 Posted February 26 Usually that means not enough cpu to run the programs at that low rate. Either a slow computer or badly written drivers for the interface.
InstrEd 3,819 Posted February 26 Upping the ASIO interface to what buffer setting? When I upped mine quite a few years ago to 2048 buffer setting I had some problems too. When I froze some tracks and put the buffer to 1024 I was okay. So sometimes having a big ASIO buffer can cause issues to IMHO.

I usually start a Project with a buffer of 128, from there i will gradually increase up to 1024. I am noticing more frequent crashes after selecting the new buffer size and closing the preferences dialog
Guerilla Genus 30 Posted February 27 (edited) 💡 always save your project before changing the buffer size 🙄 Edited February 27 by Guerilla Genus
