Cakewalk Will Start, Then Immediately Stop.

Ben Grauer

Question

I installed the RTPMidi plugin, downloaded so I could “OneControl” on my iPad with Cakewalk.  I successfully synced it, was working fine until Cakewalk crashed while using it.

Now Cakewalk will start up, stay at the main screen for about 5 seconds, and then terminate.  It will not fully load any project.

I have…

-Attempted to start holding down SHIFT key,

-Uninstalled the plugin and removed the startup entry of it,

-Made sure Windows was up to date,

-Uninstalled and reinstalled Cakewalk with the Bandlab Assistant,

-Booted into Safe Mode,

-Ran antivirus overnight - no viruses found.

I have not yet cleaned up Windows Registry..

None of the above has worked.  I’m having a hard time believing that reinstalling/reverting Windows is the solution as I find this problem only with Cakewalk.  All other applications run fine.

Please help!  My studio is "hard down", and I'm hoping there is an easy fix to this problem.  Thank you!

Uninstalled and reinstalled Cakewalk with the Bandlab Assistant,

Was this a clean install?

If not, try a full re-personalization.  To do this, right-click on the Cakewalk program icon and while holding down the CTRL key, click open on the context menu. This dialog should appear

Clicking OK will restore files in "%appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core" and reset a couple of registry entries back to factory settings.

What happens if you rename the TTSSEQ.ini, AUD,ini and Cakewalk.ini files and then start Cakewalk?

You might want to do the TTSSEQ.ini file first to see if it’s that.

These files are in the following folders

%AppData%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\

You might want to uninstall the RTPMidi plugin first.

The RTP Midi Plugin has been fully uninstalled.

I did rename those 3 files and launched Cakewalk.  Those 3 files were re-written upon launch, but the application still crashes.

Also tried opening it again with the CTRL key, and the same thing happened.

You could try deleting %APPDATA%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\ctrlsurface.dat  - it may have been corrupted when it crashed.

SOLVED!!!!

MSMCLEOD -  This FIXED it!  (And I thought I lost everything)  Hahaha!!!

THANK YOU!!!
