Re reading what the op is saying I come to the conclusion that this is a project that does not follow the tempo map. A live free time recording. 
The op might be in aware that they can -

1-copy paste the clip and then drag it to the correct location 

2- drag the audio to the timeline and Melodyne will create a tempo map. 
 

And if the song was off the grid a pasted clip will not sync up if the tempo is drifting
