Accidentally recording all notes twice

Caroline

Question

Hi! I'm new to Cakewalk so I'm still learning the basics. Sometimes when I record a MIDI track all notes are registered twice. There must be an option to fix this, but I can't seem to find it. I provided a screenshot so that you can see what I mean by doubled notes.

This is most likely due to you have a midi loopback happening. The VST instrument is set to output midi data. You can disable that in the VST setting,  but the best way is to go into Preferences/ Midi/ Devices and uncheck all outputs.

It's a good idea to give us more information about your set up for trouble shooting so I'm having to assume your using a USB keyboard controller.

How are you recording notes when this happens?  Mouse clicks? Using a soft synth? Using a virtual controller? With an external MIDI/usb controller? etc.

Also,  what Inputs do you have selected for the specific track you are recording on when this happens?

Thank you, this seemed to solve it!

I'm sorry I didn't provide more information, I wasn't sure what's important to know.
