Track View in Shortcut-Editor

Question

Hi and Hello,

just a humble question to the pros 🙄

What happened to the Track-View Category in Shortcut-Editor?

I can't find it anymore here on my system...

Confirmed here as well.

I do actually have some custom keybindings that I had under the Track-View Category that still work.  Ripple Edit.

This is even when Workspaces is set to none

I have lodged a support ticket.

For me Alt+1 work.  I did not try to remap it.

I just tried mapping it to E.  So, I pressed Alt+4 to get Step Sequencer and then pressed E.  It worked.  Will try restarting CbB to see if it stays there.  Yup. It worked again.

Warning: I have an older PC and sometimes things that work properly for me don't work for others.

With CbB 2021.4 Build 144, try the Category drop down.  On mine, Track View is missing.  On Build 125, it’s there.

Yeah.  I saw that.  I wrote Oops earlier, but it was too late.  Sorry.

Update: I don't do much with personalized key bindings,** so to familiarize myself with them, I compared the category [Area] choices in the current build with 2021.01 Build 098. (It was handy because I have it on a second PC I have been setting up.)  FWIW, the current 2021.04 adds four categories (Loop Construction View, Surround Panner, Sysx View, and Video View) and loses two categories (Tempo View and Track View).

I have no idea if Functions have been added or removed and I am not going to look. Just wondering if they are in a document somewhere (either changes or the Reference Guide).

Thanks for mentioning this issue. I have been thinking about customizing shortcuts but its usually a low priority for me,  This might change as I now see some Areas and Functions that would save me time if I had custom key bindings.

**I usually use Global Bindings.

EDIT: Correction done per the following discussion.  Thanks @Promidi.

I can confirm that Loop Construction View, Surround Panner, Sysx View, and Video View have always been present.

I have also configured some keybindings specifically for the Sysx View which I have used for quite a while now.

One thing to note is that is you do use a lot of keybindings and you use workspaces,  your workspace will load its own keybindings.

Personally, I deselect “Keyboard shortcuts” under “Load From Workspace”in the workspace manager for the workspaces that I use.

You have far more experience WRT customizing keyboard shortcuts, so I defer to you on this.

I see what happened with 2021.01 Build 098 on my other Audio PC. For some extremely odd reason I was on the Basic Workspace (which I never use). Thanks for correcting me.  From developing personal Workspaces I knew we have the option of saving and restoring custom keyboard shortcuts. Of course I haven't yet transferred them to the Audio PC I have been setting up. In fact, I just installed CbB and only did two tests (so far).

Good to know that the default Basic Workspace excludes certain keyboard shortcut categories (as well as the shortcuts themselves) for excluded features.
