Please excuse me if this is not the correct forum for this question....

VideoLAN requires SF2 files to play midi files. Where is the best place to get free SF2 files for VLC to use?

-or-

What is your default program to quickly audition *.mid files?

Thank you!

I do it in Cakewalks media browser.

I have beforehand moved all midifiles to a folder with several subfolders for different styles and things.

Then i locate this folder in the media tab of the browser and save that location. The browser is B on the keyboard.

It needs a general midi instrument in a track and then you can click on a midifile and it plays.

The tempo is set from the open project so it can be necessary to manually slow it down for slower songs as blues and reggae.
