Page EN-52 of the Casio CT-X800 user manual lists the following steps to turn on the USB midi connection between the keyboard, computer and DAW (CbB in this case).

  1.  Turn OFF the CT-X800 and turn ON your computer.
  2.  Connect a USB cable between the computer and the CT-X800.
  3.  Turn ON the CT-X800.  Note if this is the first time the CT-X800 is connected to the computer a generic Windows driver will be installed.
  4.  Open Cakewalk by Bandlab.
  5.  Press P on the computer keyboard to open CbB preferences.
  6.  Navigate to MIDI > Devices.
  7.  Select CASIO USB-MIDI as Input Driver and Output Driver.

The user manual has a note with an exclamation mark.  The note reads, "Be sure to turn on the Digital Keyboard first before starting your computer's music software." My guess is the keyboard was not communicating with your computer and the generic midi driver was not loaded before your opened CbB.

I've attached a copy of the user manual.  Here is a link to the CT-X800 webpage:  CT-X800 webpage
