Paul Bush 131 Posted October 15, 2020 Hallo Chaps , I really am on a roll as they say , since I`ve had the pleasure to be on this bandlab forum Ive writen and recorded a so many songs , heres another ``blue for you ´´ written and recorded in about three weeks , I wasnt sure if this one was a keeper untill I added the short chorus harmonies and it then fell into place ,
ABull 84 Posted October 16, 2020 Hey Paul, this reminds me of something Steve Miller might do -- good groove and I liked that guitar break -- the playing and tone are perfecto -- good work mate~~Allan.
Kevin Walsh 124 Posted October 18, 2020 You always have such interesting melodies, and the mix is so clear. Great guitar tones throughout with a really good break. Great vocals and harmonies and yeah, the chorus works really well. Keep 'em coming!
emeraldsoul 1,080 Posted October 18, 2020 Well first off this has a songwriter's signature that I don't remember hearing before. It's super original, which is always good. Mix wise I liked it best when the vocals were doubled! On the single lead vocals, sometimes I couldn't make out the words, which is not a deal breaker exactly - but you might bring the single vocal up just a smidge, or better yet seek out the snare hit that inevitiably masks certain words in spots, and drop the snare out of the way a bit just for that conflicting moment. Or just go with what you got 'cause it's pretty good as is, really. cheers, -Tom
Paul Bush 131 Posted October 18, 2020 Hi guys , thankyou all so much for taking the time to reply and comment , this was one of those songs I wasnt really sure about, its so hard keep everything in perspective when one writes so getting such a positive response spurs me on no end , I try and write intresting melodies without them sounding too complicated and over clever , which I´m not cheers
Bajan Blue 405 Posted October 18, 2020 Hi Paul - like this - guitar playing and tone excellent Good job Nigel
Paul Bush 131 Posted October 21, 2020 Thanks Nigel, I´m constantly surprised with the bandlab vitual amp set-ups I usually delete the reverb and add it on later during mixdown to have more contol over the sound cheers
daryl1968 362 Posted October 21, 2020 This is great Paul - really lively.
Hidden Symmetry 809 Posted October 21, 2020 Really enjoyed this track Paul. The tune, performance, driving guitars, vocals- great job!
Wookiee 883 Posted October 22, 2020 It works for me, has the things that make the furry ears smile and say stop, listen you furry lump. Nice one @Paul Bush
Jim Fogle 494 Posted October 22, 2020 Paul, Blue For You has a distinctive sound, I really enjoy listening to this mix as everything is clear but there is nothing that is in your face. The only thing I would change is I would reduce the number of crash cymbal hits.
DeeringAmps 795 Posted October 23, 2020 I was thinking this needed something, a grinding B3 maybe?, then it hit; yeah! I do think the verse is a bit "naked"; but your tune, your production. Overall 👍 t
Paul Bush 131 Posted October 23, 2020 Hi t , I´m not very good at layering the instuments so I try to avoid too many instuments playing at once ..if that makes sense? I also wanted a bottleneck guitar in there but once again too many cooks etc Ive still got some tricks of the trade to learn , cheers Pb
Bapu 2,201 Posted October 27, 2020 I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that since you used a drum VST, I'll then say the song could really shine with a live drummer. The vocals are really good as are the guitars. Bass is foundational, which is all this kind of song requires. But I'd up the bass by at least 1 db.
Paul Bush 131 Posted October 27, 2020 Hi Bapu, yeah a live drummer would be nice unfortunately its luxury that I cant afford , so i´m stuck with EZdrums , as far as the Bass goes I struggle with it because i´m no Bass player so when I record the bass I try and hide it rather than embrace it and try and play it properly ..although I did write a song where I played a rather convincing walking bass line my one and only time that said ``check out the basslines ´´ in any of my offerings..... cheers for the comments
bjornpdx 593 Posted October 28, 2020 Paul, your songs have a distinctive character to them. This one has a catchy chorus and I like the vocal doubling there. I thought the voc could use bit more thickening, maybe bit more reverb or something? But well done song. Enjoyed it.
Douglas Kirby 513 Posted October 29, 2020 That's a cool rocker - I really enjoyed your lead vocal - nice job there. I also enjoyed the vocal doubles and harmonies on the chorus - they really hook the listener in. The rhythm guitars sounded excellent - and the mix overall sounded quite good to my ears. Well done.
Lynn Wilson 432 Posted October 29, 2020 Paul, I like everything about this! I listened to it several times before I responded because it's so enjoyable. This might be perfect for a video. Stay healthy!
