Saving projects

Skip Hancock

Question

I am thinking of adding Cakewalk by Bandlab to my computer that has Sonar Platinum already on it. Hopefully Bandlab’s updates will fix glitches in Sonar. Two questions:

1—will Cakewalk run separately from Sonar? ie. will my plugins from Sonar be available in Cakewalk?, will old Sonar files open seamlessly in Cakewalk with all added edits?

2—is there any way of storing project files to disk and NOT to cloud? If I want to take my projects to another studio, can I save as bundle files or OMF and take them with me on a USB drive?
thanks,

CbB started with the SONAR Platinum source code.

CbB installs as an upgrade to SONAR. The DAWs and content directories are separate. The shared folders are updated. Here is how to install CbB using BandLab Assistant.

Both DAWS will be available.

All plug-ins installed with 64bit SONAR and user added plug-in will be available in CbB.

CbB can open any projects created by Cakewalk DAWs including SONAR.

Just like 64bit SONAR, CbB cannot load 32bit DX plug-ins.

CbB stores projects and data just like SONAR on local drives.
