Ok, looking past the high ticket items like MODO and the Hammond, what are the best sound sets for ST4? I already have ST4 MAX, and Spaceport from the giveaway a while back.

What are your favorites, if you have any of the others?

As regards ST4 I am in the same boat as you abacab (ST4 MAX plus Spaceport). I don't have the other new ones and would also be interested to hear from anyone that does. I am leaning towards Alternate Keys, Synthwave and Trap at the moment.

As far as I can tell the only new sound sets (not included in ST3 MAX) are as follows (I have added links to make them easy to get to):

Alternate Keys -https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/stalternatekeys/?pkey=stsounds-alternatekeys

Clavitube - https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/stclavitube/?pkey=stsounds-clavitube

SynthWave - https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/stsynthwave/?pkey=stsounds-synthwave

Reggaeton - https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/streggaeton/?pkey=stsounds-reggaeton

Trap - https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/sttrap/?pkey=stsounds-trap

LA Confidential (Drums) - https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/stlaconfidential/?pkey=stsounds-laconfidential

London Grooves (Drums) - https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/st3londongrooves/?pkey=st3sounds-londongrooves

Its not that I doubted it would go to 750, I just wanted to be sure I really needed/wanted (lets be honest, most of us don't need any more plugs!)
wanted ModoBass/Drums and the B3. The demos have me convinced I'll use all three (wish I had demoed EZBass; don't you?)
I have a sequence for Black Magic Woman (from somewhere) and to be honest, I sounds pretty damn fine!

So I'm off to run it up to 751 762.
I have ST3 (never a goto for me) so if I get ST4; fine and dandy, if I don't, BFD....

ZT - Thanks for the breakdown! I think that due to sample drive space limitations, I may not have downloaded all of the expansions that I was entitled to at the time. Bummer that the ST4 MAX instrument content downloads have timed out for me! I may have to pay the re-activation toll to see what all I am missing! 🤪

Here is the full list of content for each ST4 version: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/include/st4/soundlist/SampleTank_4_comparison.pdf

[Edit]: I just noticed that if you open up the ST4 UI where it shows your installed libraries in the left hand panel, the ones that you own, but haven't installed yet are shown with a download arrow icon overlaid on the library icon. Yikes! I'm missing most of the expansions! 🙄

No, only as the qualifying (first purchase) product I believe.

Another idea: maybe IK could really make their Group Buys cross-platform and include iPad apps. I for one would love to add an extra Hammond that way.
OTOH, future ARM-based Macs and iPads will run the same apps anyhow.

That kind of seals it. I’ve got a lot of IK and there’s just not enough in here to make it interesting to me, even if it goes to 7-1:)B-3 would be great, Modo Drums would be nice, (but not required) and Alternate  keys would be fine. If I can’t throw a keyboard in there or Satriani,   it’s just not worth it for me. Hope it works for others.

This is correct*, but developers can disable it for their products. I expect most developers will; forcing mobile software prices on desktop would probably be unsustainable.

(*though I'm not sure if it's been confirmed that AUv3 iOS plugins can load in desktop ARM Mac hosts)

Developers only get 100 codes for each app and in-app purchase per update to the app.  There wouldn't be nearly enough of those to go around (plus giving them away as part of a group buy would violate the terms agreed to by developers who have their apps on Apple's App Store).  Trust me, we'd to it if it was possible to generate codes like we can do with our own software on our store.

There’s a way out of this conundrum. Apple offers universal purchases. You buy once (say, the IK Hammond B3) and get the instrument for three platforms: Mac, iPad and iPhone. Ideal for a Group Buy :)

This is Apple here you are talking about.
