Normal buffer size?

Here are my specs, first off. Intel Core I7 8700k, 16 GB 3200 mhz RAM, Samsung 860 EVO SSD, Presonus Firestudio Mobile, Newest version of CbB.

I am working with a 96/24 project that has about 40 tracks and a ton of plugins. 12+ instances of Amplitube, Addictive Drums, lots of compressors and Eq's, etc. Its gotten to where I have to set the buffer to 4096 to get 100% glitch free playback. If I turn off all the plugins I can playback with much smaller buffers. Does that sound normal? CPU isnt even getting taxed very hard and I have plenty of RAM available.

It's normal to up the buffer size during playback to prevent glitches with high-plug-in-count projects.
Where a low buffer counts is when recording  so you can hear what you're recording in sync with the playback.
You probably already know all that.
