Cannot write file disk may be full

I have just received the same message that the disk may be full, unable to write. I have so many plug ins and virtual instruments that the file was almost at the limit of playability anyway on my system, and took ages to load up, appearing to take a long time to load up Arturia Solina 2 Virtual instrument in particular. It turned out that the whole project had become very messy and that because I had already recorded the Solina track, I did not in fact need to load that synth every time. It was redundant. Which would explain why the track played every time I loaded it. I unloaded the Solina and was able to save as normal. Problem solved.
