Syncing Rhythm Tracks to Overdubs - Tapes from 1980's

Donnieb

Question

I recorded a bunch of tunes back in the early 1980's on a Fostex 8-track machine.  I would record 8 tracks, bounce them down to two tracks on a separate machine, then transfer that 2-track sub-mix back to the 8-track machine and have six more open tracks to do overdubs on.

At the time, I felt that the sub-mix would sound a bit tighter if I sped it up slightly (40-60 cents), so I often did that when transferring back to the 8-track to do overdubs.

I've found those old Fostex tapes and have transferred the original 8 tracks (drums, bass, rhythm guitars, keyboards) plus the 6 overdub tracks (vocals, lead guitars, keyboards) down to Cakewalk.  The only problem is that the original 8 tracks are slightly slower than the overdubs, and it's causing all sorts of problems.  I've tried audiosnap, but I can't seem to figure out how best to get this to work.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

dB
