Remembering John Prine

Recommended Posts

Nice cover, well mixed, well performed and you can't ask for more than that:)

The only thing I would change is that drum fill around 2:10-2:11, to me the fill breaks the momentum of the verse.     I would start the drum groove without the fill at 2:10, maybe put a short fill ahead of that 2:10 mark to give a hint the drums and bass are coming.   But really fantastic work, had a couple listens through.

Regards

Great recording and playing on this. Youtube has  better audio than Soundcloud.  Has a great live feel to it since you tracked it while playing the main parts. Hat's off to you for such nice work!

anders, I love your voice, so emotionally true.  Do you perform anywhere?

Thank you, David.
I used to. Nowadays, I've got a real job :D , and do not gig much live. It happens from time to time.   :)

For me the distraction is that first kick, it hits pretty hard.

I would drop all of the drums and backing

I don't know, keeps the song building...

BTW, Very nicely done!

Anders
Made me all misty eyed. Really really good performance.  I think you could have left out the drums but that's just me.

I think John Prine is one of those under appreciated artists who most people discover by accident, but once discovered you become an immediate fan.

Wow what a great song, not heard that before. I don't think you needed the additional  instruments either - this song is all about the vocal and you 100 per cent nailed it. Sublime vocals and BGVS too, also enjoyed the guitar work - what's the acoustic you're playing BTW - I have a feeling I might know but would be interested to find out?

Really lovely stuff, look forward to hearing more.

Thank you very much, everybody.
Andy: I used two guitars: The one you see, is a Martin GPCPA 1 and out of sight, is a Martin D15M.
I might have, at least I wanted to, use an ukulele: That is some Ibanez model.
The bass is a Sandberg electra VS4, and the color is "Creme"  :D

I was betting Martin or Taylor - sounded great
