An oldie but goodie-

Voxengo is happy to announce the release of the next major version 3.0 of its Boogex plugin, a free guitar amplifier and cabinet simulation plugin for professional music production applications. The plugin is available in AAX, AudioUnit, VST and VST3 plugin formats, for macOS and Windows computers.

This version features the following changes:

* Implemented the "DynaCab" dynamic convolution technique.
* Added the preset list sorting function to the preset manager.
* Redesigned the knob image.
* Extended the "Color Editor" with color modifiers.
* Added the "Gray Blue" color scheme.
* Added the "Amp" enable switch.
* Now Boogex can be used as a plain stereo convolver when the "Amp" stage is disabled, and the "Pre EQ Mix" set to 100.

Excellent news! Boogex and Voxengo fan here.

I have to admit to only ever using Voxengo's freebies, and really good stuff it is, but their UI's, oh man, it's as if they exist so that people can say that Meldaproduction don't have the least attractive UI's in the plug-in market. If they would just make them skinnable, anything to get away from that "Windows 3.0 with the Hot Dog Color Scheme" look.

I think Crimsonmerry will work for cheap and does great work.

The main change to this version: Boogex can be used as a plain stereo convolver when the "Amp" stage is disabled, and the "Pre EQ Mix" set to 100.

It already uses IR files for its cabinet emulations, so I'm assuming you can use other IRs now without using the cabinet sim feature.

There is new and interesting feature in Boogex 3.0 IR Loader - DynaCab.

As it described in manual: "The DynaCab processing is simple in its nature: the Amp signal is processed by two independent convolvers, each loaded with its own impulse response. Then the outputs of these convolvers are mixed in a dynamic manner. The dynamic response is derived from the signal output of the Pre EQ stage. This preserves the original guitar playing dynamics." ... "In an ideal case, both impulse responses should be matched: e.g. by capturing two impulse responses from a real guitar cabinet, at high and low loudness levels."

The problem is - there's not many matched IRs out there. Still, it's uncommon feature.
