Hello BandLabers. I'm goofing around with the REMOVE SILCENCE function and I thought we had a way to just had it SPLIT CLIPS (retaining audio data in order to adjust the clip's borders and fades afterwards...). But is seems that it is not the case. When trying to "roll out" clip borders, there is just ... silence... Is there something I am missing here? The only work-around I can think of currently, is to set some kind of "forgiving" strip silence parameters first (still keeping some "to cut out" stuff) and afterwards complete the cleaning process manually... I also tried apply a EXP / GATE prior to removing silence, but I have not been able to set it up correctly in a way that I would not need to edit like hell anyway afterwards yet... so no proper "improvement" here... I am encountering this error for the second time where Cakewalk thinks a project (that I've linked below) is way longer than it actually is. The song itself is 45 seconds long, yet Cakewalk thinks it goes on for over 2 minutes, therefore rendering over a minute of mere silence. Last time I could actually apply a fix from a previous thread about the same issue (http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3205742) where I would open the Event List view and delete all events after the end of my song, but I can't find it anymore in the places it once was. Looking at the cakewalk manual https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=4&help=EditingMIDI.45.html , the Event List view should be in one of those drop-down menus, but it isn't: So how can I get rid of the silence at the end of my tracks, or am I doomed to always select my track before rendering it? super long silence at the end.cwp super long silence at the end.mp3
I had a friend tutoring me w/ audio, but unfortunately he has been sidetracked lately. Well, for 6 mos actually. I doubt I'll have access again. I've been on my own just as I was starting to understand a little!?! 1. I remember he'd have me take midi trks and record them as stereo into the audio . Then he would take them back to mono after bouncing them. Never understood that nor was experienced enough to question the process. 2. He would use a process to create silence between inactive sections within the bounced trk, why? Should I? 3. I can understand a mono trk I believe, if using a solo instrument or section. But, I occasionally use ensembles (GPO5, orchestral comp). Why make this mono? I don't remember that he did this or even suggested it (getting foggy at 75). Should or can the two be present in the mix down? 3a Ancillary to that, how does pan fit into the process. For ex, if I use a full string ensemble, does pan influence the balance? I'd say yes intuitively. 4. Is there a concise tutorial suggesting a process after the input portion - ie all midi trks ready to go in terms of balance, EQ, volume etc? I use orch stuff primarily and don't know if there is an actual difference in technique from current pop music mixing ideas. I appreciate any help. Willard
