  1. I'm fairly new to digital recording and very new to Cakewalk. The Problem I'm having great difficulty with latency when recording more than one guitar track. I'm able to play along and record with the original track playback, but when I listen to what's been recorded, the 2nd track is off by a couple of beats. However, there does not seem to be any latency with recording the 1st track. CPU Specs CyberPower PC with Windows 7, 64-bit AMD quad-core processor, 3.6 GHz 8GB RAM Audio Interface: Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 Things I've tried so far optimizing my CPU settings in control panel shutting down unnecessary processes playing with the buffering preferences in the ASIO panel. I've reduced the buffering to 64 and the settings don't seem to take effect. See the attached screenshots for preferences and settings

  4. Hello, Cakewalk community. I've been using Cakewalk to mix and produce some music for the last month. I am having trouble recording directly from my Yamaha Motif XF8 keyboard. When connecting it via USB, I can use it as a MIDI controller with no problem. However, I'd like to record the audio from the keyboard via USB onto the DAW (for the moment, I don't have any audio interface or mixer setup to record the sounds from my keyboard as a "normal" audio input). I really like the voices from the Motif and am currently trying to record some live performances which involve changing voices, parameters, and such on the go. I've been trying to fine the right plug-ins (VST files maybe?) so that CW will recognize my keyboard, with no luck. Is this something that can be done? I'm fairly new to the whole DAWs world. Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards, Diego

  9. Hi, I'm pretty new to home recording and I've just downloaded cakewalk by bandlab and bought the USB audio interface Behringer UM2. Everythings set up and ready to go apart from this slight problem when I go to record acoustic guitar and vocals together. I want them to be recorded onto the same audio track but when I go to record (on stereo option) they playback vocals in left and guitar in right. Is there a way to get them to playback in stereo? Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance! Luke
  10. Evening. Well, it is as I type. Anyhow, first time I've tried this DAW. I can't get it to record in both ears. Plenty in the right ear, nowt in the left. I've worked out it int my equipment, I've tried it in Ableton & it works alright there. Anyone any ideas, ta?
  11. So here I am trying to record two separate MIDI parts on ONE MIDI clip in multiple takes. After I finished the second part, I see only my new notes showing but I hear both. SILLY STUPID ME!!! I thought they were going to both be on the same MIDI clip BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA I guess not. 🤬😠

    Only 'on beat' recording

Hi! I'm quite a newbie to DAWs and completely new to CW. I just solved the no playback problem (yay!), but I have problems with my recording. When put in an instrument, I can play it without any problems, but when recording, every sound I play gets delayed to a certain moment and then all of those notes play at the same time, with the same length. It doesn't sound on an exact time stamp, so I don't think it has to do with something like snapping to the beat or so. Strangely enough, initially this problem wasn't there when I got the sound working. Edward
  13. Total newbie here. I'm just trying to get the virtual instruments packaged with the new Cakewalk to record, such as Drum Kit 1. I open a new project, select Basic. I select "Insert" then "Soft Synth" and Drums, and SI-Drum Kit. This adds a track and assigns a default midi port. I can bring up the kit, select a sample pattern and loop it. I hear it in my headphones, and I see sound bars in the drum and master mix channels. I arm the drum track to record, then hit the main record button (set to overwrite). There is an active sound bar in the drum track and I hear the drums, but I do not see any sound patterns on the track itself, and there is nothing after I hit the stop button and attempt the play button. Is there some setting I'm missing? I've looked at the midi port settings, tried some variations with the other soft synths such as strings. The default is the Virtual Controller assigned to Midi Omni. I've tried setting this specifically to the SI-Drum Kit 1, Midi Omni, but still nothing is recorded. I'm running on an HP laptop, 16 GB RAM, Windows 8.1, new Cakewalk installation a few days ago. Thanks for any ideas to get me out of the ditch!
  14. Hi everybody, I was just recording a drum track with the built in SI Drum Kit VST. During recording everything sounded exactly like I played it, but during playback the rhythm sounded completely messed up. Inspection of the recorded MIDI notes shows that they seem to be randomly misplaced in time. The attached screenshot shows what sounded like straight eights during recording. My Setup is: Cakewalk V2019.07 USB Midi Keyboard (Alesis VI61) Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 USB Interface with ASIO driver I would really appreciate your feedback. Has anybody else had a similar problem? Edit: The "problem" was caused by the quanzization settings which I didn`t find at first. Sorry for bothering you.
  15. New to Cakewalk by Bandlab so I apologize for what is likely a basic setup question. I am using a Roland OCTA Capture audio interface between my Korg Kronos and Windows 10 on my laptop. I record a drum track then try to add another instrument on a secondary track and when I play it back after recording the two are out of sync by a very small amount. The sample rates are consistent between all components. Is there another adjustment that needs to be made in Cakewalk or my audio interface to compensate for the timing between playback and record? What am I missing???
  16. Help! Am tracking guitars, while recording, its in time, no latency between hitting the note and what I'm hearing... when stop recording the track in out of sync with the overall tempo of the track and needs moving about etc... why does this happen?!?!? When i import audio like drums etc... linesup striaght in time with the click so why don't my guitars record and stay with the click after i press 'stop recording' button?!?! Any advice would be much appreciated! Am using HP pavillion, wins 8, Core i5, 8GB RAM , loads of HDD available, asio, focusrite Scarlett solo 2nd Gen, am not using any plugins, just straight in dry recording
  17. Hello all, It's been a very long time since I've been on these forums. I am writing because I have a question. I'm out of the loop and curious as to what audio interfaces would meet my criteria. Currently I have two of these daisy-chained, but they are becoming (are) obsolete. I was thinking of trying to hook them up again to see if I can still use them without any issues and start recording again. There are only "beta" drivers for Win10 for this unit, (the last full drivers were released on Win 7, that's how old these are). We have gotten it to work in the past on Win 10, but sometimes it can be such a headache. It uses Firewire, that's how outdated it is. I had to install a Firewire card in my pc to use it. I need at least 12 I/O's I am old school and mic everything on my drummers kit. We currently mic with 2 overheads, 2 snare mics, 3 (sometimes 4) tom mics and 2 kick drums. (for a total of 10 just for drums). Also I run my cabinet mic through there also so he can hear my scratch tracks while we record him. I want something that is current and is not going to be discontinued and obsolete 15 minutes after I buy it, like with what happened when I got my E-MU 1820 years ago and now these Presonus Firestudio Project interfaces that I have. I will provide any additional that is needed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  18. Windows 7, Cakewalk 2019.12 I've recorded a MIDI sequence which plays on an external synth, and now I want to capture the output from the instrument's 48KHz S/PDIF output. Nothing works. I've tried all driver modes, tried different digital and analog input devices, nothing produces a track. MME and sometimes WASAPI starts to play the MIDI tracks, but hangs after a second or a few, not showing any clip on the recording audio track, and with the Now time line not moving. When I hit space bar, it suddenly moves the Now time up to where it would have been, and shows a clip up to that point, but it has nothing in it but some low-level noise. ASIO, WDM/KS, and sometimes WASAPI plays fine, but doesn't create any clip and therefore records nothing. I've fiddled with the Timing Master settings, trying to use the same device I'm recording from as the master, and also trying to use some other device, and neither worked. For ASIO, I've fiddled with settings in ASIO4ALL to no avail. My S/PDIF input works fine with Windows Sound Recorder. To get my music exported, I installed Audacity, pressed Record, then told Cakewalk to play, and Audacity recorded the music without a hitch. So there's nothing wrong with my hardware or drivers. What could be wrong, or how do I diagnose this further? The device settings are pretty cryptic, and don't seem to provide reasonable defaults, so are there some specific settings somewhere I may have missed?
