  3. You guys probably heard of TC Helicon Guitar Pro, Orange Omec Teleport, and the Hotone Jogg. All of these are audio interfaces that specializes on the guitar, giving the players the ability to tweak the tone, record, and return the signal to be played on an amp or headphones. So here's the thing, how are your experiences with these products (or interfaces that do the same - return the sound from a plugin/DAW in an unbalanced output i.e. guitar amp). Are these advisable for serious recording situations, and can these be used live (as an alternative to pedalboards)?
  4. Step Recording in Cakewalk by Bandlab can be a great way to lay down tracks if you’re not keyboard savvy. Step recording is a method of recording MIDI notes one note or chord at a time. It’s a very easy and precise way to record, but can sound mechanical if used in the wrong situation. You use step recording in its typical form by choosing a step size, such as a quarter note, and then playing a note on your MIDI keyboard. Here’s some shortcuts to help: http://bit.ly/Step_Record_Shortcuts

  7. While laying down a audio track (guitar) and also while listening to all the tracks after recording, the overall sound fluctuates between sounding a bit bassey to sounding more clear. It typically happens about halfway through the recording and at times will go from bass to clearer to bass again. This happens with all the tracks at the same time. Is it possible that the drivers aren't working properly? This did not happen when I was using Sonar, before changing over to Bandlab. Thanks for your time. Joel
  8. Hello, Edit: 23 March 2019 I decided it could be helpful to include a list of upcoming tutorial videos and their links. The video below is the first video in the playlist, but if you are interested in a specific topic, check the following list for quick navigation. If there is no link for it yet, it means I haven't uploaded it. I can take requests, but keep in mind that I run another business on top of my actual Chernobyl Studios audio work, so if I like the idea, it'll get put on the list and I'll get to it when I get to it. I have a channel on YouTube that I created many years ago for creating Cakewalk SONAR Platinum tutorials. I constantly get questions, comments, and requests on those old videos I did years ago. I'm updating all of the Cakewalk videos I did for SONAR Platinum to Cakewalk by Bandlab. There are three videos currently online, with 4 more already scheduled to come out this week. Please share this playlist with anybody who is getting started with Cakewalk by Bandlab. I am starting from the very basics and will work all the way through mixing an entire song. It will take a few weeks, but it will be worth it. 😎
  9. Greetings: I searched and did not see this exact request. If it is a duplicate, I apologize, in advance. It would be handy to be able to set a user-defined limit on # of take lanes and stop the loop recording. For example, I'd like to loop record up to 5 takes. Being able to set the limit, means I can hit record, and do not have to worry about stopping the transport. In other words, after the 5 takes, recording stops, and the transport stops, simultaneously. Thanks, Kevin

  12. Some of the best features to me are the ones that save users time and therefore make their workflow easier. Ideally this is done by shortening how many clicks or numbers are typed in to accomplish something. For example, I'm off listening back to a tune and suddenly hear where I need to do a punch in. So I click stop (the space bar) right around where I want to punch in. It's real drag to have to type in the exact time or measure and beat where I want to punch in. So how about making the default record start time be whatever the now time is? If a user doesn't want that, then no big deal, the user does what we've always done: Type in the start time we want. But if the user wants the now time to be the record start time, then the user is saved from having to enter in the record time.
  13. Total newbie here. I'm just trying to get the virtual instruments packaged with the new Cakewalk to record, such as Drum Kit 1. I open a new project, select Basic. I select "Insert" then "Soft Synth" and Drums, and SI-Drum Kit. This adds a track and assigns a default midi port. I can bring up the kit, select a sample pattern and loop it. I hear it in my headphones, and I see sound bars in the drum and master mix channels. I arm the drum track to record, then hit the main record button (set to overwrite). There is an active sound bar in the drum track and I hear the drums, but I do not see any sound patterns on the track itself, and there is nothing after I hit the stop button and attempt the play button. Is there some setting I'm missing? I've looked at the midi port settings, tried some variations with the other soft synths such as strings. The default is the Virtual Controller assigned to Midi Omni. I've tried setting this specifically to the SI-Drum Kit 1, Midi Omni, but still nothing is recorded. I'm running on an HP laptop, 16 GB RAM, Windows 8.1, new Cakewalk installation a few days ago. Thanks for any ideas to get me out of the ditch!

  16. Hello, Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I hear distortion when trying to record. I am using a MX3M USB condenser mic and audio driver WASAPI Shared. On track 1, I have imported an instrumental. On track 1, I have space for my recording. When I listen to the instrumental, there is no distortion. When I start recording, I hear distortion. When I stop recording and listen to tracks 1 and 2, there is no distortion. Any advice? Thank you in advance! Christine

  22. I have just encountered a new problem. I am using the TTS-1 synth but the input echo doesn't allow me to hear what I am playing during recording. It works before recording when the input echo button is on, but as soon as I press record it doesn't work. The midi track records the notes I am playing, I just can't hear what I am playing. Yes, I have tried muting all the other tracks and I have checked that the TTS-1 track is the only one armed and with input echo switched on. I have also used the SI-Bass and SI-Strings just now on the same project and have not had the same problem with them, so it appears it is something within either the TTS-1 or the record function in Cakewalk which I need to change? Please help....I need to get this track finished once and for all!
