  2. Total newbie here. I'm just trying to get the virtual instruments packaged with the new Cakewalk to record, such as Drum Kit 1. I open a new project, select Basic. I select "Insert" then "Soft Synth" and Drums, and SI-Drum Kit. This adds a track and assigns a default midi port. I can bring up the kit, select a sample pattern and loop it. I hear it in my headphones, and I see sound bars in the drum and master mix channels. I arm the drum track to record, then hit the main record button (set to overwrite). There is an active sound bar in the drum track and I hear the drums, but I do not see any sound patterns on the track itself, and there is nothing after I hit the stop button and attempt the play button. Is there some setting I'm missing? I've looked at the midi port settings, tried some variations with the other soft synths such as strings. The default is the Virtual Controller assigned to Midi Omni. I've tried setting this specifically to the SI-Drum Kit 1, Midi Omni, but still nothing is recorded. I'm running on an HP laptop, 16 GB RAM, Windows 8.1, new Cakewalk installation a few days ago. Thanks for any ideas to get me out of the ditch!

  4. Hi! When a recording is done, lets say from bar 1-12. I want to stay at bar 12, not jump back to bar 1. Is that possible to change somehow? Thank you!
  5. Hi there - I am using multiple Vocoder products (Harmony Engine, Tal Vocoder, OVox, etc.). I am trying to Freeze the tracks to conserve resources, however the FX aren't taking. Is there a different process for Freezing tracks that are controlled by MIDI? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Greetings all. I searched the forums, and didn't find any instances for this issue. Using Cakewalk Version 2021.06 (Build 058, 64 bit), and Kontact Version 6.6.0 (R133). I've added a Kontact Simple Instrument Track, and armed the track, at which time, the "Record" indicator in the track lights up, and also the "Arm/Disarm All Tracks" indicator in the Mix Module at the top of the window. I successfully record a passage, and then disarm record in the track. HOWEVER, the "Arm/Disarm All Tracks" indicator in the Mix Module will not disarm, as if Cakewalk thinks a track is still armed. In this condition, any other attempt at recording, effectively doubles on top of the previously recoded passage. I've been using Cakewalk for a great while, but I am VERY new to Kontact. Am I screwing something up, or is my instance of cakewalk flaky? Has anyone experienced this? Any and all suggestions, are welcomed, and appreciated.

  8. I noticed an unpleasant digital crackle while recording with 'Remove DC Offset During Record' option on. It completely ruins the recording. Recorded with Behringer UMC1820 using ports 1 and 2 in mono mode. Strangely enough there is no crackle while recording the two ports as a stereo track.
  9. I am trying to record external hardware, mainly drum machines and synths. Is there a way to arm a track and have it automatically start recording when it detects an input and then stop when it doesn't detect anything?

  14. Hi everyone, I just started using Cakewalk and I'm running into an annoying issue. I'm using my multi-effects pedal as audio interface (connected by USB) and I have my headphones connected to the headphone jack on this multi-effect I can hear my guitar when I play and even feedback from my pc (whatever is playing, the pedal is acting like a USB speakers) However, when I try to record a track, and then a second one with "Sound on Sound" option (or any other rec option for that matter), the first track gets picked up by the input and recorded back into the second track. Even the click track is recorded. In fact anything that is playing in my headphones is recorded back into the input. Please note that the pedal is connected by USB no jack, so there should not be any hardware misconnection. I've looked at all my settings (listen to mic is unchecked) disabled any other audio interface, read countless forums, I still havent find a solution. Could you please provide some help on this.? Thank you all,

  17. So I just got a new mic (Rode NT 1A) and it sounds great, however, I notice when recording a vocal into Cakewalk, the graphics look like it is clipping hard, however it SOUNDS great. Also the max peak is -11db which far from clipping! So I am wondering if this is just a drawing error or something I am doing wrong? Thank You!

  21. Hi all, Trust me I've looked everywhere I can think of trying to find this answer. Any ideas? I'm simply trying to track a new audio track. Soooo frustrating. Please see below some info, plus a couple of pics. > The only change I can think of since I last recorded 'audio' was changing from 48000 > 44100 samples a few weeks ago. Does that matter? I'm trying to track on a brand new song though... > Device on WASAPI Shared (What I always record acoustic guitar on without issue) (see pic) > Rode NT USB mic. it's working fine, can hear sound through direct monitoring > Cakewalk can find Rode and the settings are correct I believe for input/ output (see pic) > Latest version of CW installed and working fine > Windows 10, no sound card problems I've had no issue recording audio this way before. I just have no idea why NOW it won't record any audio sound when I do what I have always done.. ** Is this something? ** I notice that in the 'peak volume' area for the track it lists -90.3 (See pic attached). I don't think I remember seeing this before? Is this the problem. Is it preventing the mic picking up sound perhaps? Not sure, don't know... please help with any ideas. Thanks in advance and also apologies in advance if I'm missing something very obvious. I'm no expert at Cakewalk - far from it Cheers Mike
