  1. I have just encountered a new problem. I am using the TTS-1 synth but the input echo doesn't allow me to hear what I am playing during recording. It works before recording when the input echo button is on, but as soon as I press record it doesn't work. The midi track records the notes I am playing, I just can't hear what I am playing. Yes, I have tried muting all the other tracks and I have checked that the TTS-1 track is the only one armed and with input echo switched on. I have also used the SI-Bass and SI-Strings just now on the same project and have not had the same problem with them, so it appears it is something within either the TTS-1 or the record function in Cakewalk which I need to change? Please help....I need to get this track finished once and for all!

  7. Total newbie here. I'm just trying to get the virtual instruments packaged with the new Cakewalk to record, such as Drum Kit 1. I open a new project, select Basic. I select "Insert" then "Soft Synth" and Drums, and SI-Drum Kit. This adds a track and assigns a default midi port. I can bring up the kit, select a sample pattern and loop it. I hear it in my headphones, and I see sound bars in the drum and master mix channels. I arm the drum track to record, then hit the main record button (set to overwrite). There is an active sound bar in the drum track and I hear the drums, but I do not see any sound patterns on the track itself, and there is nothing after I hit the stop button and attempt the play button. Is there some setting I'm missing? I've looked at the midi port settings, tried some variations with the other soft synths such as strings. The default is the Virtual Controller assigned to Midi Omni. I've tried setting this specifically to the SI-Drum Kit 1, Midi Omni, but still nothing is recorded. I'm running on an HP laptop, 16 GB RAM, Windows 8.1, new Cakewalk installation a few days ago. Thanks for any ideas to get me out of the ditch!

  9. Hi I am experiencing a strange dysfunction during recording that isn't restricted to, but primarily concerns the inability to overwrite. I just thought I would check if this is familiar to anyone before replacing hardware that otherwise appears to be working properly, or reinstalling Cakewalk. I have been working on the same project for over a month, Record is set to overwrite and this has worked for me fine up until now. I am running Windows 10 pro with i7 9700k 3.6GHz 64G ram, I have 2 midi controllers connected through separate interfaces. sound card is focusite scarlet 2i2, I can describe my setup in more detail , but this might not be necessary if someone recognizes this problem. 2 days ago I had a fallout ( something i haven't experienced since the late 90's). and then Cakewalk froze and had to be force quit. After reboot I had to redo all cakewalk settings ( midi inputs audio etc) so its possible I just misconfigured the setup after reboot. Periodically I cannot record at all, ( no white region following the curser and no data afterwards) other times I can lay down a first recording but nothing afterwards. For a while I was able to double the track and record them both simultaneously and this "woke up" the dormant track for a take or two. Now i simply cant overwrite. I've tried all reconfiguration of the record settings including "create new land" Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks

  12. Sorry if the title is a little vague. I didn't know how to explain in a few short works. I am new to Cakewalk and am having some teething pains. Here is my problem at the moment... I record drums on the first track. I play guitar on the second track but that second track also includes what I recorded in track 1. I then do a vocal on a third track and get all three tracks showing up on the third track. Ideally what I want is to have each track isolated so I can adjust volumes, equalization etc. What am I doing wrong

  19. Hi there, 10 year+ user of Cakewalk/Sonar here, and lately have been experiencing a very strange and very frustrating problem for the first time. Whenever I record anything into the DAW, whether it be on a MIDI keyboard or on a guitar, when played back it is noticeably ahead of the beat. For example, if I lay down a rhythm guitar part with a lot of 16th notes over a drum loop, it sounds super locked in while I'm recording, but when I play it back it sounds whack. It is a small differential, but big enough for me to have noticed. Same goes for MIDI. I've adjusted my buffer several times, restarted the software and the computer just as many times, and still no luck. Has ANYONE experienced this issue before? Beyond frustrating as I can't really record anything until it's sorted out. The interface I've been using recently is a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4. Thanks!
