  1. I tried to record beatbox. I could a couple months ago, but now I can't (maybe because of system updating). Only voice can be recorded now. I can record beatbox by using default PC application, so I know cakewalk have some trouble.
  2. I have an acoustic guitar, with pick-up, inputted through a Zoom R8 interface with the latest Zoom R8 ASIO driver installed (Windows 10). The problem I have is that after about 1 minute of recording, the guitar signal suddenly changes to sound like it's being put through a frequency modulator effect, and the recording played back is the same. I also get this when playing back previously recorded tracks (not recorded through the interface), but only when using the Zoom R8 interface, and intermittently. I've read that this could be because of excessive cpu use due to the latency being too low, but my cpu use is not increasing above about 30% (RAM abt 60%). I have tried changing the buffer size from 256 to 512 and 1024, both in the Zoom ASIO control panel and Sync and Caching > File System, but there's no improvement. Here is an image of my Driver Settings in CW with the buffer size set at 256: UPDATE - Now the effect is currently permanent on all the tracks of one project, but if I export and play them back in WMP (via the interface) they are okay. Other projects are playing back okay. UPDATE #2 - Having exported all the individual tracks and testing them (they're okay), I returned to CW, and without re-opening it played the original project which all of a sudden played back perfectly through the interface. I had made no changes to settings or anything at all. UPDATE #3 - I have tried recording on other projects, as I thought the issue could be due to using specific VSTs, but even recording the guitar clean, with no VSTs previously added to the track, after a short while the sound of the guitar becomes distorted.
  3. Hi all, this seems to be a common problem discussed across the internet, but I have yet to find a truly similar situation to mine, so I thought I'd reach out to you lovely people. I'm experiencing some "noise" in Cakewalk and I'm trying to diagnose the source so I can hopefully eliminate it. First up, here is what I am using: HP ZBook 15 64 bit Laptop running Windows 10 with Cakewalk Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 USB audio interface Behringer USB WDM AUDIO 2.8.40 drivers (as ASIO4ALL is rubbish) What I'm getting is a "static" sounding hiss that steadily increases across the frequency range, hitting -72 db max. That's the loudest it gets and that's at around 24 kHz. Somewhere along that "static" is a hum at around the 630 Hz mark (all this noise can be seen in the image of my graphic equalizer below). More info... I have NO inputs connected to the audio interface (no instruments or microphones) I have NO speakers connected to the output Nothing is connected to the mains (the laptop is running on battery) so now Ground Loop issues NO wireless devices are connected There are NO other electrical or lighting related items switched on in the room. All other speaker or audio devices on the laptop have been disabled. What I have tried... I tried using a different laptop (same problem) I switched to using the laptops own internal mic and speakers (there was some other lower noise going on, but could still see the same noise pattern from 1 kHz onwards) My brain has now run out of ideas. I can only assume that it's computer related, but it seem strange that I get the same thing on another laptop. The reason that this is an issue for me, is that I am recording distorted guitars so the gain on this noise is also significantly increased. Yes, I am using a noise gate, but you still get slight trail of the "static" just before it gate kicks in, which just sounds weird. Making the gate react as fast as possible doesn't quite cut it and isn't the sound I'm after. Any help or ideas would be very much appreciated at this point!
  4. I'm a newbie at audio production but have used a Adobe Audition for simple stuff since 2007. Currently using Cakewalk and taking online classes for audio production. I'm almost done with the basic course, but have a problem with the final exercises. I'm mixing about 16 tracks and a lot have plugins of chorus/reverb/eq. Whether I play them back or try to mix down to a WAV file, I'm getting clicks, pops, static, and dropouts. The audio still plays and I don't get an official pop-up on the screen when it's happening, but I can clearly hear it, i.e., a lead vocal in the middle cuts out or a harmony vocal on the left or right cuts out with static and returns a few seconds later. I have a new HP Envy desktop I got last year using Windows 10. I've tweaked settings for my buffers and have tried to "freeze" tracks and mix down to smaller groups - still have issues. Let me know what tips you recommend so I can get the right settings and have normal function without dropouts. Thanks! NOTE: I've accessed this file below, done all that it says, but still hear hiss and dropouts during playback even though transport keeps on rolling. http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Troubleshooting.18.html
  5. Well I have one for you. I use CAKEWALK with a "LIVE" keyboard to play Roland Rack Mounted JV1080's and also to play VSTs from a second keyboard. The Live keyboard hooks to a MOTU midi Express the runs the hardware rack mounts. When I have NO VSTs loaded BUT the computer audio turned up, EVERY KEY or SET OF KEYS I hit causes a high pitched squeal that lasts for about .50 seconds. You can hear it in the studio monitors when I play the rack mount synths. I loaded CUBASE and tried the same set up. NO MIDI HIGH PITCHED SQUEAL with every key OR every volume tweak on the midi controller. If someone can figure this out you can probably walk on water and not scare the fish. I will even try to record this sound and attach it to this post at a later date.
  6. So, I am very new to Cakewalk, and over the last few days I've been learning the ropes enough to get back to tracking. Having said that, everything was fine until this morning. Now whenever I add a new audio track, some lady (presumably the warden of a women's prison) shouts at me "TRIAL!!!" until I panic and close the program. No plugins active when this happens. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Lenovo M92 with 8GB ram and 500GB HDD. PLEASE HELP BEFORE SHE INVADES MY DREAMS!!
