  4. G'day. I am trying to sidechain a kick to a frequency band in TDR Nova (dynamic eq) - when a kick happens it will reduce the lower frequencies in my vocals to reduce muddiness. the issue i'm having is that TDR Nova will not detect any input. i've worked with sidechaining a lot before (with other vsts) and have never had this issue. i have a send going into the TDR Nova and I have TDR Nova on ext sc (external sidechain mode). been researching for ages and haven't found any solution. hopefully someone with more experience can help me out. other daws have no issues. it appears that you need to route the sidechain signal into inputs 3/4 of the track you add TDR Nova to. not sure how to do this in cakewalk. thanks in advance
  5. Hello guys. I would like to ask if there is a way to keep the maximized EQ panel for cakewalk pinned while selecting multiple tracks? Currently when you select a different track the maximized eq panel gets closed. It would be nice to have the option to keep it open while it automatically changes the eq corresponding to the currently selected track. Thanks.

    EQ plug-ins

After I EQ the tracks with EQ that's on ProChannel, is that usually sufficient for the mix, or do I need to use an additional EQ plug-in on each track? Thank you!
  7. What’s up fellow fader finalgers?! I recently hosted a live event where I took a clients mix and performed EQ adjustments Live. Thought it might be helpful for some. I stream once a week and (rotate Saturday’s and Thursday’s) and I have really met some awesome people as well as a supportive group of users!

    EQing input

I use Cakewalk in a simple way, usually for live work. (I do use Ableton as well, but I prefer Cakewalk most of the time.) So, hardly ever mixing for a final master, I realize I don't understand EQ, or at least the routing of the signal. I have a guitar backing part I'm recording and it's booming at 80 - 120 Hz. Right I thought, I'll just EQ it. I used Pro Channel EQ. It had no effect. Ah I thought, perhaps you can't EQ the input, just like the volume slider doesn't work on the input; I'll bring the mic into a track, EQ that track and route that mic track to be the input of the audio track I'm recording to. Still no effect. The guitar gets recorded on its track but it hasn't been though the EQ. I know the EQ works because I can apply to the recorded guitar track during playback. But I wanted to EQ the signal before recording it. In the past I would have simply used the mixer, but this particular microphone goes straight into the sound card. What I am doing wrong or not understanding?

  11. What is a GYRATOR? Originally proposed in 1948, a gyrator is a type of electronic network that can be used at the heart of equaliser designs as an alternative to its even older inductor predecessor. Although inductors are still popular with some designers looking for a vintage sound, they have inherent issues like ringing and odd harmonics. On the other hand, gyrators can work better than the ‘real thing’ and give the designer more freedom, a factor put to work in the VSE-2 to create, among other things, a tube-like distortion spectrum. VSE-2Unique Features Discrete Gyrator EQ based Hardware emulation Tube like Distortion Spectrum up to 1% THD Smooth and Punchy Vintage Console EQ Sound Unique A.I.R Mode (Enhancement of the auditory threshold) 18 selectable frequencies Hi Pass Filter 10Hz-400Hz Cut & Boost steps +-: 1dB, 2dB, 3,5dB, 5,5dB, 8dB with proportional Q Frequency bands can be switched indepently to "Broad" (Low Q) Additional Input and Output Trims to Avoid Internal Clipping Issues in your DAW. 12. Purple2 suite includes of: -Purple2 P1 (Vintage tube-based, passive program Equalizer) -Purple2 PAA (Tube-based passive program Equalizer reissue) -Purple2 M5 (Classic mid range tube EQ) -Purple2 M5V (Vintage classic mid-range tube EQ) -Purple2 H2 (Vintage single channel tube EQ) You may be wondering why we are introducing another M5 into the Purple2 suite? This is a legitimate question, but very easy to answer: we challenge anyone to find two equal sounding units of this kind. The case of our M5 and M5V is a clear demonstration that two faithfully sampled versions of two different models can have differences in terms of sound. For this reason, when we had the original unit in our hands (from which we derived our M-5V), we were really pleasantly surprised and decided to offer you a new "vintage" plugin, very colorful, given its tube nature, and immediate operation. Plus, you get Purple2 H2, which is a passive tube EQ renowned for the ability to both boost and cut the low-end frequencies at the same time and to add an unmistakable analog flavor to your mix. This emulation is derived from a rare and vintage 2U single channel program EQ designed as a compact version of our Purple P1 with a more transparent character. Purple2 H-2 differs from its bigger sibling however, in that it has different peak boost curves but the same Class-A output stage as the M5 (mid-band EQ). Perhaps the most noticeable difference is the fixed bandwidth for the HF Boost and fixed high-cut at 12kHz. 14. These program libraries work in licensed Nebula3 and Nebula4, NOT N3 1.3.505 and N4-Player. The W91A equalizer is one of the later developed. It was designed in the early 1990´s when customers requested for more channels with full features. All circuitry for the W91A’s is high quality and build after the standards of the IRT (Institut für Rundfunk Technik). The idea behind the W91A equalizer was to build a balanced eq module in a small, half fader (B1) cassette. The W91A is quit flexible and a good alrounder featuring with selectable frequencies and a q-factor. You can use the the W91A for mixing and mastering. The W91A is a flexible eq with a relatively clean yet slightly aggressive character. It´s ability to go from subtle filtering to extreme EQ-ing effects, makes the W91A a very powerful tool. The sound is much more “in the face” and you can still add loads of high frequencies without getting any harshness. . High Quality programs with full dynamics and harmonic content . 18. Do you want perfect sound from your mic that’s as close to natural as it gets? If you own an SM57, AT4050, or MXL V67G, the following are EQs that will create a perfectly flat response. Note that you will need the LP EQ (a.k.a L-Phase Equalizer) as this equalizer has enough nodes for the task, has a non-linear setting, and has a high quality, transparent sound (esp., compared to the ProChannel EQ). First, place the LP EQ on an audio track FX rack (open the plug-in window for the LP EQ and click the Expert button, select Non Linear under Precision and Slow under Analyser for low latency recording); next, create a new aux track from the output of the first track; set input on the first track to your mic input and turn Input Echo ‘on’ (also 48V phantom power—only if you’re using a condenser mic, otherwise leave it off). Now, arm the aux track for recording. Recording with this input channel setup will produce some input latency, so go to Preferences and view your Input latency under Driver Settings. Write down how many samples are shown. After recording, set your Snap tool to Samples and enter this amount. Set Snap to ‘snap by’ and zoom in to the front of your recorded clip. Drag the clip left until it snaps by that many samples—this fixes your recorded latency entirely. You can use this method for any input channel FX in the future, such as compressors and so forth. Also, you can use these on tracks already recorded with the above mentioned mics by placing the EQ on the track’s FX rack. Here are the EQs both written (for those not using the LP EQ) and uploaded (for those using the LP EQ). Enjoy! Sincerely, Maximus, Rock Mojo Studios. I recommend using these on vocals when the most natural sound is needed or on tambourines, snaps, claps, etc.; try it on your guitar rig and you'll notice that the sound you get is exactly what was playing through the speaker(s) (perfect for when you don't want to change a thing about your settings!)
