About Me

  1. I will first admit that, although I'm a channel subscriber, I'm not the worlds biggest fan of Rick Beato... I think that his 'abundance' of confidence of his abilities and opinions has a tendency to rub me the wrong way sometimes... but that is not to take away from his knowledge and intellect. That said, I found this interview with Andy Summers (The Police) to be really casual and funny. Kinda like having your grandpa sit on the porch in a rocking chair telling war stories.
  2. I'm scoring a short film and my problem is that when I press play and the video is loaded into the project, there is a second delay until the project starts playing, which is incredibly annoying. There seems to be some problem with a video decoder (LAV splitter and LAV decoder) Cakewalk is using for this, because I tried it in Studio One, and playback is perfectly smooth there. The only problem is that I yet don't know my way around Studio One, that's why I'm not working on the project on that daw. I already tried editing the AUD.INI txt file, to no avail. Cakewalk has never been great at working with video, but I have to get the work done and I don't have the time right now to learn a new DAW. Any thoughts? 3. Hi All! Been using Cakewalk/SONAR for 20+yrs. Love that it's been continually updated. Amongst other projects, I mostly use it to score music for TV. I'm having a problem with the video track. As per the instructions (and the way I've always used it) I am unable to slide the video clip along the video/thumbnail track to change the start time. When I open the video clip properties (as well as in the Track Control portion of the Track Window) the start time is ghosted and won't let me change it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thx in advance! Greg Fisher
  4. I submitted this to Support and am still waiting on a reply, but figured I would see if anyone here has any ideas in the meantime... I am using Cakewalk, latest ver. (build 79) on two machines, one Windows 7 pro and one Windows 10, and am working on some video scoring. I have a video and audio project loaded in each and Cakewalk on the W7 machine (since update last week to ver. 2019.07) no longer will show the Video View. In fact Video View is no longer available as a choice in "Views" menu - it doesn't even show up in the list. Neither will pressing shortcut Alt+V or right clicking in Video Thumbnails strip and choosing "Open Video View" open the video view. (Thumbnails of the imported video, however, DO display in this strip.) It is as if all video viewing function has been removed. Cakewalk on my W10 laptop has view video functions as normal . I actually have since downgraded to previous version of CW and Windows environment using System Restore to a earlier date, but this had no effect in correct the problem. What is going on here??!!
  5. Hi guys, My eclectic musical ensemble Disconnected Souls has recently released our first music video for our track "Dissonant Whispers". I'd describe this as being an atmospheric heavy ballad with some djenty guitar, electronics, orchestral and world influences. Also available at: https://open.spotify.com/track/2grwSgSFgT8J8ADJOTykM6 https://disconnectedsouls.bandcamp.com/album/dissonant-whispers If you get chance to listen I hope you enjoy! Comments/feedback/criticism always welcomed. Best wishes, Matthew
  6. Hello everyone. Me and Anderson the drummer decided this time to do a cover of a song that is not very popular, but one of our favorites. This is the song ''Medusa'' originally by the british band Trapeze. Starts calm and then blasts one of my favorite guitar riffs of all time. Hope you enjoy and any constructive thoughts about the mix are welcome.
  7. Hi everyone! My new cover and mix of The Dead Daisies song ''Hypnotize Yourself'' Would be great to hear your opinion.

  9. Cakewalk uses my internal graphics card, but since my laptop has a gtx 1060 card, I tried forcing Cakewalk to use that instead (in a screen setting in Windows 10). Unfortunately it rendered the programme really bad, so I had to change it back. Is that due to me doing it wrong or is cakewalk just not optimised to using an external graphics card? I was hoping to free up some processing power that way.
  10. Hi, anyone have a tutorial for how to efficiently work with video on Cakewalk?
  11. Hi guys I'm trying to use Cakewalk for video projection, importing a video to Cakewalk's video track and play it synchronised with the music. My problem: I cannot have the video playing in full screen when I hit PLAY. So, is there a way to get the video started in full screen when I hit PLAY? Or are better ways to do it? Thank you.
  12. This video shows how I made a short Kawaii Future Bass (Intro > BuildUp > Drop) in Cakewalk by Bandlab. Also, I've only used freeware 😉
  13. From Creative Sauce - Might come in handy for anyone whose keyboard transport controls don't work with Cakewalk amongst other things.
  14. Hi I've purchased some plugins from dearVR and unfortunately Cakewalk is a bit behind other DAWs in this category and isn't fully compatible. I'd really love to see Cakewalk's functionality be current with the newer audio plugins. There are a few other DAWs that currently do this but buying another DAW, the learning curve might just kill me at this point as I've been heavily invested with Cakewalk since Pro Audio 9. Perhaps a smart way to do this is to be able to drag and drop a speaker preset from Cakewalk's preferences or while a track is selected and a preset chosen just hit apply but allow the option for a custom preset in preferences. You already have most of the infrastructure ie; multichannels & speaker assignment options, they just need the option to be merged as a track and the speaker settings in preferences is no longer the speaker output but a preset selection to apply to different tracks. I work mostly with multichannel and makes a big difference even listening with a stereo headset but the new plugins can now downmix multichannel audio into binaural to monitor multichannel audio on your headphones with greater sophistication/outputs than your hardware would normally allow and provide reference listening environments to get an idea what your multichannel mix might sound like like in a car, Van, kitchen, Venu etc! Please make this happen! Thank you
  15. Hello, Edit: 23 March 2019 I decided it could be helpful to include a list of upcoming tutorial videos and their links. The video below is the first video in the playlist, but if you are interested in a specific topic, check the following list for quick navigation. If there is no link for it yet, it means I haven't uploaded it. I can take requests, but keep in mind that I run another business on top of my actual Chernobyl Studios audio work, so if I like the idea, it'll get put on the list and I'll get to it when I get to it. I have a channel on YouTube that I created many years ago for creating Cakewalk SONAR Platinum tutorials. I constantly get questions, comments, and requests on those old videos I did years ago. I'm updating all of the Cakewalk videos I did for SONAR Platinum to Cakewalk by Bandlab. There are three videos currently online, with 4 more already scheduled to come out this week. Please share this playlist with anybody who is getting started with Cakewalk by Bandlab. I am starting from the very basics and will work all the way through mixing an entire song. It will take a few weeks, but it will be worth it. 😎
  16. totally stumped. I imported a long video into Cakewalk so I could add some effects to one short segment (about 2 min) of audio. plays perfectly within Cakewalk with effect automation, etc. here is the stumper: no mater what options or formats I try, when I export the video with the new edited audio - the resulting video file is totally silent - no audio at all! I managed at one point to export a version with 10:10 min of audio but the rest of it is totally silent. have not been able to repeat it. I have tried "edit / select all / export / video" I tried not having anything selected. net result is a silent movie. in every case. you see it mixing down audio followed by encoding video....ideas? gotta be something simple! (FYI: i did notice Cakewalk had created a "MX1mtbyi4.WAV" file in the project audio folder. i checked the properties and it has size of zero bits.)
  17. I made a selection somewhere in the middle of my project (control-A , then set the selection start and endpoints) and then on the video ruler right-clicked and exported video. H.264, quick audio bounce. What I got was the audio from the selection (middle of the project - correct) and the video was the entire original video (incorrect).
  18. Hello, Brand new to all this. Just downloaded Cakewalk. The tutorials I have seen so far all introduce the different sections of the app and explain what they do. I haven't a clue how to actually proceed with anything. I really need to watch someone go through, step by step from the start, and show how to add a few tracks and special effects. Just got a Akai LPK 25 keyboard to start playing with. Any links to actual videos of people making their projects would be super appreciated. I'm lost. Thank you!

    Video editing

It looks like Cakewalk has some form of video editing. I have imported an MP4 file and have the thumbnail clips. I want to delete some of the thumbnails. I can select them as I do in an audio file, but I can't find how to delete them. What is next?
  20. A complete overhaul of the video player : Better file support for both import and export files Possibility to change the starting point, entry point, exit point, Better use of the graphic card (GPU) Currently, the video player hasn't evolved for almost 10 years... it's completely outdated... The use of Cakewalk in post-production, film music, tv ad, multimedia, video game's post-pro, etc., becomes totally tedious. 😕
  21. New build has created a mess with looping songs with videos in them. The songs crash at the first attempt to loop. I tried changing the formats of the videos but it did it no matter if the videos were mp4, wmv, avi, etc. Tried lots of different songs and they all crash. If you delete the videos, they don't crash when looping but I need the videos for scrolling lyrics and guitar chords. As workaround, I'm back to the latest(?) Sonar Platinum version and it still loops when the videos are present. I have sent a few midi-dump files into CWBBL and they tell me they got the message but no response yet. Anybody else experiencing this?
  22. Hello Cakewalkers I saw, a couple of months ago, a post on why it is not currently possible to update the startime of a video / movie file imported in CbBl. (If I remember correctly, had something to do with the file type or codec or the selected playback engine...) I just cannot find it anymore. My google searches outputs articles dating from around 2014... so... Can someone help?
