  1. I'm working off of sheet music just to play around with what Cakewalk and various software synthesizers can do, but I've hit a snag. The piece is in 3/4 time, and this specific measure is filled out completely by an 8th note at the start, a quarter note, another quarter note, and another 8th note. However placing that second quarter note, regardless of context (I've even tried it in the same position on a measure in a track absent any other notes) instead results in a pair of bridged eighths. What causes this and how can I fix it? I've tried placing it by means other than staff view but it still comes out wrong.
  2. So... there I was... tweaking a script for a Bad Robot trailer that I did in the key of C (relative) minor (Eb Maj Ionian key signature) when I noticed something in the PRV that captured my curiosity. The dominant major scale in the key of Eb (3 flats) shows note names in the PRV as 2 flats and 1 sharp, with G# being the outlier. If you move to the key of Db (5 flats), you will find that the PRV now displays the dominant major scale with 3 flats and 2 sharps, F# & G# being the outliers. Similarly, in the key of D (2 sharps), we find that the display is 1 sharp and 1 flat, with Db being the outlier. Likewise in the key of E (4 sharps), we find that Db & Eb are the outliers. However, when actually printing this session to a Staff script, all of the key signatures are correct, and all the naturals are in the scale with no incidentals. If one was to look at the Event list in this session at each individual scale, the notes in each key signature are called out correctly. Key of Db for example: Key of E for example: So here's my query: would it be possible, since the note names have a data conflict between the GUI display in the PRV and the Event List, but must (probably?) be derived from the same data, to have them displayed in the correct nomenclature for the assigned key signature? Also, possibly revise the display of the Inspector MIDI scale flyout menu to look similar to this (which would just be the display data, since the application call already works): Attaching the project file (CWP) so that anyone else can confirm or deny my findings. 3. In the staff view, when there are very high notes on the first staff, they're falling of the screen. The vertical scroll bar can't scroll up any more. I've looked at the layout options, but couldn't find a way to get these notes into view. Thanks, Arjan
  4. Many Midi controlled VSTi instruments change articulation, expression, patterns, etc. based on midi "control notes" (i.e. C0, F#1, ...) Is there any way to hide these notes in Staff View? An implementation could work on a per track or global mode indicating a bottom and a top midi note to use in the filtering feature. Thank you.
  5. When I go to staff view of a midi track the bars are way too wide to print. A simple bar takes up the whole width of the page where 4 or 5 could fit. How do you change the width of the bars in staff view. Thanks
  6. Often I want to see if a part is enhanced by adding a note an octave lower or higher than an existing one AND having the the same start time. Depending on the note's location and length, this involves many steps. But what if Cakewalk let a user right click on a note and choose a Duplicate Note and choose how it's transposed? What if that function allowed a user to choose a default setting. e.g., Octave Up? What if Cakewalk offered multiple default options? Octave Up, Octave Down, Make a major chord with this note as the root, Transpose 1/3, Transpose Down a 1/3, etc.
  7. Please give users an an option to hover over an existing note to show its pitch, start time and duration. That way, if a user wants to determine whether to modify it or duplicate its duration or start time, the user knows what is needed for a new or additional note.
  8. There are sharp and flat pitches which a composer often wants, but the Staff View does not allow a user to free hand draw these pitches. Why not? Instead, a user has to draw the natural (note), then right click on it to change the note to a sharp or flat. That's an extra step every time. Shouldn't Cakewalk allow the drawing of sharps and flats by simply dragging the cursor up or down? Am I missing a setting?
  9. How can I set a specific channel for all selected notes, not for the only one at a time? (See the screenshot.)
  10. I have two songs with tracks I recorded from my Keylab Essential. The first one uses Analog Lab 5 and the second one uses the Stage-73 electric piano module. The one recorded with Analog Lab shows the notes I played in the staff view. The one recorded with Stage-73 doesn't. Any suggestions why or what to look at? Thank you, Jeffrey Pike
  11. While in staff view, I'm unable to insert notes correctly. For example, if I want to add a quarter note on the 3rd beat, the staff view places the note on the first beat. It refuses to let me move it. After many failed attempts, I then opened my project in an old version of "Music Creator" (a legacy Cakewalk product), and was able to make the edits in staff view using that old product. Is there a fix to this staff view issue in the new Cakewalk?

  13. Let’s say I want to write a septuplet in either piano roll or staff view. Is there any reasonable way to do this? Thanks!
  14. I'm new to Cakewalk, I've can generate music using using the piano roll and step sequencer, and writing the notes in Staff View. However, when I add chords in Staff view, they light up as the play head passes, but don't generate any output. I hear the chord if I preview it in Chord Properties, but not when paying. I assume I'm making a school boy error, or are the chords just for show? I want to be able to transcribe my existing chord progressions into Staff view and use these to generate the actual notes. Thanks in advance, Carlton.
  15. When composing in staff view, it would be of value to see the arranger sections. So some kind of arranger track at the top of the view would be great, even if it's just a read-only track.
  16. Ok, I guess this one might be a bit too much work to build as the staff view is not that popular, but I would love to have a combined PRV and Staff view, like the screen shot below. I like working in the staff view as I'm classically trained. But having the CC lanes in view is quite essential, seeing and changing the velocity and modulation without having to right click each note. Also some actions, like changing the length of a note, are much easier in the PRV than in the staff view. So having all combined would be great. (BTW, this screen shot is from Samplitude)
  17. The track pane in the staff view currently only shows a list of tracks that are selected. It would be great if this pane could be extended to list all tracks, with tick boxes to switch tracks on/off. And maybe some other options as well, such as solo and mute. See this image from Reaper, where the staff of each track can be switched on/off using the 'eye' icon.
  18. This is a weird issue. I'm not using named workspaces, and I don't use the multidock. All windows (piano roll, mixer, staff view) are maximized non-floating MDI windows. After saving a project and exiting Cakewalk, the windows are still maximized upon next load of a project. Except when using the staff view as the last view. When saving a project with the staff view as maximized window in the front, all windows are un-maximized when the project is opened. I'm using CbB 2020.04 on Win10. State just before saving: State after restarting Cakewalk and opening the same project
  19. Hi In the old versions of Sonar we had snap in the staff view (like in piano roll) and inserting notes was much easier. But in the last versions and in Cakewalk by band lab there is no snap and you should move the Now time to the location where you want the new note by pressing SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW or SHIFT+LEFT ARROW and…This is very difficult and every one I know doesn’t like it! Don’t you want to change that in Cakewalk by band lab to the old style or design a new way so that we can insert the notes easier? William Nayeri
  20. Moved from another thread where my reply was 100% off topic: What's the secret to getting features ungrayed out? I tried right-clicking with each of the buttons in the Tools module selected, including with each (and both all and none) of the options in the "Smart" tool selected. Also, I tried audio tracks, midi tracks, and instrument tracks. Thanks.

  22. In staff view, some entries in the right click menu are not accessible because when you right click on empty space, selection is reset and right clicking on a note shows the properties window. I think the properties window should be displayed when double clicking on a note like in PRV and right clicking should be reserved to the context menu. Another improvement would be not resetting the selection when right clicking on empty space.
