  1. Hey, I'm using Cakewalk for al while now and I'm all in all pretty happy with the software. But in the last days, I had two times the same problem: from one moment to another two of my projects didn't had any sound. So its still there and I can play it, but there wont be any deflection on the controllers, and if I want to export the project its an empty file. Also I cant play any instruments, I can click everything, but there wont be sound. Its not a problem with my device setup, its just two specific projects, if I open a new or another one with the same settings everything is as usual and I can hear everything. I tried to restart the software and use different devices, but nothing is working. Does anyone has an idea, what the issue could be or how to fix it? Or at least how I prevent it to happen again? Thanks!

    No playback sound

My Cakewalk app is now registered, I used the online keyboard to record successfully, and I see the signal but no sound comes from either my headphone jack or built-in speakers. I've selected both options everywhere I can find, and I've spent several hours on this - I wonder why?. My HP is a laptop - is it too cheap? It plays music ordinarily.
  3. I have this weird hissing sound that plays when I put some VST plugins in to it. The hissing sound starts quiet, then keeps getting louder, the abruptly stops. I tried to ignore it, but it comes up in the MP3 Export. What is it and what do I do???
  4. Cakewalk Sound Center's Pan + Volume knobs are clearly explained in the F1 online help, but not their right-click menus. I accidentally changed one of the values of these menus recently, and I'm confused and wondering if I messed something up. The knobs' menus indicate their current level. But they also show a current MIDI Learn CC selection (see fig. A) or a short menu with no Learn (see fig. B). It appears the context of these menus changes when "Add MIDI Control" is selected. This applies to both knobs and they can be set independently. I don't understand the right-click menus. Is there a default MIDI Control to set it to, or can it be anything I choose? I don't use MIDI Learn. Do I have to worry about these right-click menus, and will these "learned" controls affect playback? And for that matter, can someone explain "Set Min, Set Max, and Reverse"? As stated, I've only recently discovered these menus. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  5. Sorry it's probably a dumb question. I'm a total noob. There's a YouTube video that tells me how to get Cakewalk going, but once I start up Cakewalk, I lose the sound on YouTube. I did a capture of the video, but Winamp and Windows Media lost their sound as well. I get an error message "audio rendering error" or something like that, telling me to reboot my computer. Rebooting does not help. HELP!!!
  6. Hello I bought the Majestic Horn sound in the Sine Player by Orchestral Tools. I really like the sound there but for some reason the sound and the volume changes after I record a melody. The volume is suddenly really quiet and the sound is not the one I selected in the first. Can anyone explain how this happens? I am fairly new to Cakewalk and recording in general. Any help is really appreciated :)

    No sound HELP!

For some reason when I play my tracks in Cakewalk there is no sound coming out of my speakers. I'm using my laptop's speakers and they are selected in the output it looks like. I created a drum track with the step sequences and when I play it I hear nothing. Please help! Thank you
  9. Hi! I'm new to Cakewalk and not an English speaker. I have issues with Xpand!2 and Ripchord. Cakewalk recognizes them, but when a press a key in the midi controller, there's no sound. What happens? Can anybody help me, please? I'd really like to use those plugins. Maria
  10. Suddenly recording of music became terrible. When i hold key more than 1 second appears sound of other note. Sometimes it changes after half second, sometimes after 10. Also can hear other notes during playing records. This `plugin` is on every instrument.

  12. After a forced ms upgrade this morning, my sound is non-existent. I've done the sound test w/in microsoft, the sound test with my Behringer UMC202 uphoria. I've changed my audio back and forth between 48000 and 44100, checked all connections. My drivers are updated. I don't get anysound when playing youtube videos etc. Any suggestions. I've only a smattering of ignorance w computer technology. Willard
  13. I just installed Cakewalk a few days ago on a Windows 10 HP laptop. I'm having trouble with the virtual keyboard controller. It works like a charm when I open a new project and add a new instrument track. (I've been using Surge as my synth.) The keys work, the sound works, the recording works. I can record several tracks and am able to use both the piano keyboard and the computer keyboard. Then I go and edit a track a bit, add an effect or two and go back to the keyboard and the synth to record again. Sound no longer works -- not just when recording, but at all. I can't trigger the synth to play. The same happens when I try to add another instrument track. Synth comes up, virtual keyboard comes up, the screen shows my keys depressing, but no sound. I've checked that the virtual keyboard is the input (Omni). Recording on the current track is armed. Mute is off. I've tried different presets, different synths. Nothing works. Once I exit the program and open with an empty project, everything works again. I'm sure there's some setting I am missing but I've had no luck figuring it out. Thanks for any help!
  14. Great video about sound creation
  15. Hello. I am, for the most part, new to Cakewalk and DAW's in general and I can't seem to get any sound out of Cakewalk no matter what I do. I do not have a separate audio card and I am just using my windows computer's sound card for now. I know that the sound doesn't work because I've tried messing around with the virtual instruments but I have had no luck. I can't seem to hear anything from cakewalk. I've tried changing the Driver Mode many times, I've tried changing the sampling rate and using the Wave Profiler to verify the sample rate. I've tried to make sure that I have the Correct Input and Output devices checked. It feels like I've tried everything and still no luck. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
  16. Hey all. I've been dabbling with Cakewalk for the past month, enjoying it btw, but this one project, Track 2 (for reference), has been giving me constant issues. When I try to record vocals, I can only record for about 12-16 measures before the sound slows down, and the audio gets heavily distorted and almost impossible to listen to. Same exact thing happens when I listen for that length, and when I exported the file to a WAV, it distorts at a certain point (about a minute in). I've tried several things: changing the driver setup from MME to WDM, and ASIO, I've tried changing the buffer in Preferences>Audio>Driver Settings>Mixing Latency from 4 buffers in playback queue to 2 and 16 (2 made it worse, 16 was no different from 4). I've tried changing the settings on my VST instruments, switching out instruments, and that helped with a distortion problem I had alongside this, but not the whole issue itself unfortunately. I also deleted and reinstalled AUD.INI, and that did nothing either. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks in advance. -- Other (possibly important details): Computer: - OS: Windows 10 - CPU: Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60 GHz - RAM: 8 GB - System Type: 64-bit OS, x64 bit Processor - Storage: 1 TB Non-Cakewalk VSTs in use: BPB Cassette Drums 808 -- drums Dexed -- synth Distorque Azurite -- vocal stereo shaper Rough Rider - VST sound effect Xsub 808 - bass sub Tracks in use on the project: 12 P.S.
