I'm currently working with samples and I want to modify them, but I don't know if cakewalk has an option to pass samples to MIDI and thus be able to do vocal chops and things like that with the samples.

some way to adjust the samples to the bpm in which the project is, i.e. how can I adjust the size or time of a sample from 120bpm to 128 bpm

I would like a way if there is not yet to be able to drag the samples from the library to the audio track and have them replaced without having to delete and return those selected samples

As I am seemingly finding the number of sample libraries growing my storage space is shrinking. I see that SSD prices are coming down and probably will continue to do so; my question is are Hybrid Hard-drive/SSDs viable as well as the cost per gigabyte seems to be pretty reasonable. Just wondering what others might have experienced using this type of drive? Thanks so much! -

Bandlab seem to be a forward thinking company and I believe their App will draw in a lot more EDM, Hip Hop and R&B Music Producers to Cakewalk I know we have had various things like Dropzone - Cyclone - Beatscape over the years and there is also the Matrix view but I feel there is a gaping hole in CBB for musicians who build tracks around samples which should be addressed. Competing platforms have their own well thought out and intergrated samplers and have flourished and overtaken the DAW formerly known as Sonar because if it. It's an ideal opportunity to redress this. My starting point would be the Browser. It's already the default place to audition loops and one shot samples so why not put it on steroids ? Imagine undocking it and dropping it into the MultiDock to view the fully fledged sampler. This could incorporate all the best attributes of those old plugins as well as new features but much more seamlessly. No VSTi to instantiate, a fluid workflow as you move from browsing sounds to working with them. Looping , chopping, editing, mangling and making samples playable across the keyboard would all be possible within the expanded Super Browser. Once you're happy with how it sounds, drag across to the track view and drop your newly edited sample instrument into the project ready to perform within your track. This will now act as a standalone sampled instrument that can be refined within it's own instrument if needed. For all my fellow cheapskates, you can download a surprisingly good collection of drum samples as a 254MB zip file from musicradar.com here. Free! It contains several complete kits, a bunch of miscellaneous samples of individual kit pieces (Ludwig, Tama, and Sonor snares, et al.), and a few dozen REX loops if you're into that 😊. Some of the samples are multi-velocity, too. Good for general use, additional sounds for your favorite drum VST, or as a huge expansion to the Drum Replacer samples.

Some samples can be very long, it would be great if when using the Browser you were not limited to merely playing it from start to finish and could select to preview the sample from any point in it's duration. The way I could imagine it working is that as soon the selected sample starts to play the white highlighted text box has a coloured bar ( let's say green ) that gradually fills up as the sample plays along it's length and by grabbing that bar and sliding it along you could choose to preview the sample from any point.
