About Me

  1. Hi! I'm quite a newbie to DAWs and completely new to CW. I just solved the no playback problem (yay!), but I have problems with my recording. When put in an instrument, I can play it without any problems, but when recording, every sound I play gets delayed to a certain moment and then all of those notes play at the same time, with the same length. It doesn't sound on an exact time stamp, so I don't think it has to do with something like snapping to the beat or so. Strangely enough, initially this problem wasn't there when I got the sound working. Edward
  2. Hi everybody, I was just recording a drum track with the built in SI Drum Kit VST. During recording everything sounded exactly like I played it, but during playback the rhythm sounded completely messed up. Inspection of the recorded MIDI notes shows that they seem to be randomly misplaced in time. The attached screenshot shows what sounded like straight eights during recording. My Setup is: Cakewalk V2019.07 USB Midi Keyboard (Alesis VI61) Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 USB Interface with ASIO driver I would really appreciate your feedback. Has anybody else had a similar problem? Edit: The "problem" was caused by the quanzization settings which I didn`t find at first. Sorry for bothering you.
  3. New to Cakewalk by Bandlab so I apologize for what is likely a basic setup question. I am using a Roland OCTA Capture audio interface between my Korg Kronos and Windows 10 on my laptop. I record a drum track then try to add another instrument on a secondary track and when I play it back after recording the two are out of sync by a very small amount. The sample rates are consistent between all components. Is there another adjustment that needs to be made in Cakewalk or my audio interface to compensate for the timing between playback and record? What am I missing???
  4. Help! Am tracking guitars, while recording, its in time, no latency between hitting the note and what I'm hearing... when stop recording the track in out of sync with the overall tempo of the track and needs moving about etc... why does this happen?!?!? When i import audio like drums etc... linesup striaght in time with the click so why don't my guitars record and stay with the click after i press 'stop recording' button?!?! Any advice would be much appreciated! Am using HP pavillion, wins 8, Core i5, 8GB RAM , loads of HDD available, asio, focusrite Scarlett solo 2nd Gen, am not using any plugins, just straight in dry recording
  5. Hello all, It's been a very long time since I've been on these forums. I am writing because I have a question. I'm out of the loop and curious as to what audio interfaces would meet my criteria. Currently I have two of these daisy-chained, but they are becoming (are) obsolete. I was thinking of trying to hook them up again to see if I can still use them without any issues and start recording again. There are only "beta" drivers for Win10 for this unit, (the last full drivers were released on Win 7, that's how old these are). We have gotten it to work in the past on Win 10, but sometimes it can be such a headache. It uses Firewire, that's how outdated it is. I had to install a Firewire card in my pc to use it. I need at least 12 I/O's I am old school and mic everything on my drummers kit. We currently mic with 2 overheads, 2 snare mics, 3 (sometimes 4) tom mics and 2 kick drums. (for a total of 10 just for drums). Also I run my cabinet mic through there also so he can hear my scratch tracks while we record him. I want something that is current and is not going to be discontinued and obsolete 15 minutes after I buy it, like with what happened when I got my E-MU 1820 years ago and now these Presonus Firestudio Project interfaces that I have. I will provide any additional that is needed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  6. Windows 7, Cakewalk 2019.12 I've recorded a MIDI sequence which plays on an external synth, and now I want to capture the output from the instrument's 48KHz S/PDIF output. Nothing works. I've tried all driver modes, tried different digital and analog input devices, nothing produces a track. MME and sometimes WASAPI starts to play the MIDI tracks, but hangs after a second or a few, not showing any clip on the recording audio track, and with the Now time line not moving. When I hit space bar, it suddenly moves the Now time up to where it would have been, and shows a clip up to that point, but it has nothing in it but some low-level noise. ASIO, WDM/KS, and sometimes WASAPI plays fine, but doesn't create any clip and therefore records nothing. I've fiddled with the Timing Master settings, trying to use the same device I'm recording from as the master, and also trying to use some other device, and neither worked. For ASIO, I've fiddled with settings in ASIO4ALL to no avail. My S/PDIF input works fine with Windows Sound Recorder. To get my music exported, I installed Audacity, pressed Record, then told Cakewalk to play, and Audacity recorded the music without a hitch. So there's nothing wrong with my hardware or drivers. What could be wrong, or how do I diagnose this further? The device settings are pretty cryptic, and don't seem to provide reasonable defaults, so are there some specific settings somewhere I may have missed?

  16. I'm recording with a USB microphone and a MIDI keyboard (both plugged directly into the computer with no interface) and the for the audio track that I record on with the microphone, there's an instant playback. With the MIDI track that I record on with my keyboard, however, there's a fifth of a second delay on the playback. I think it may be because the audio track has the output set to my headphones, but the MIDI track makes me use Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth as the output? If so, how could I make my headphones be the output for my MIDI track? I'm new to this so IDK I'm dum. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  18. I want to record controller data for notes already on a track. But recording them from an Impact LX88+ doesn't work. (Similar to this thread) Output sound is an outboard synth. 1. Set MIDI track input to LX88+ channel Omni or ch 1 2. Arm track to record CC1 modulation controllers 3. Hit record & record controllers in real time using the LX88+ mod wheel >>>Sound is muted??? Can't hear the notes being played<<< 3. Modulation controllers are recorded but affected notes are now white and silent 4. Play track but no sound is heard from the white notes where new modulation controllers were recorded >>>No tracks or take lanes are muted<<< 6. Undo all the above work and start over 7. Manually add CC1 modulation controllers on channel 3. (track midi channel) 8. All is good Edit: Record was set to Comping. Should have been SoS!

  23. I would SO sincerely appreciate someone's help. I just got a Roland VT-4 voice transformer to add some effects to my vocals. Let me tell you what I already have and what I do, and have done for many years with no problems. First I boot up my M-Audio interface, the Fast Track Pro. It has a simple pre-amp. I then choose it under preferences in Sonar and route my MIDI tracks to the basic Cakewalk soft synth. While listening to the music I lay down the vocals on some audio tracks. Then I shut off the M-Audio and go back to preferences. I choose ASIO. At THIS point I can mix the vocals on the recorded track(s) and the audio that was generated by the MIDI tracks onto a brand new audio track which forms the completed song. I have tried everything I know to do something similar with the Roland VT-4. It also has a pre-amp in it. When I try to lay down a VOCAL track while listening to the MIDI generated audio as illustrated previously, the new track (which I only want the VOCALS on) is a COMPOSITE of the vocals AND the MIDI generated music. If I shut the connection between the Cakewalk soft Synth then I only get the vocals laid down but obviously cannot hear the music! I have tried connecting the VT-4 to the M-Audio via dual 1/4 inch plugs but no dice (they just came today and I thought this would solve the problem) PLEASE tell me HOW I can listen to the MIDI generated music via the Cakewalk soft synth while recording a CLEAN vocal and NOT recording the output from the Cakewalk synth while STILL being able to LISTEN to it while I lay down the vocal. It seems like the ONLY solution is to use TWO computers, one t listen to the MIDI audio and one to record the vocal track! LOL PLEASE help me! Thank you so much! Sincerely, George

    Clock

When recordong.... how can I make Cakewalk use the clock received from a MIDI device (keyboard in my case playing rythm for example)?
