  1. Hello, This is my first time using Cakewalk so it is probably something very obvious. For some reason, for this project only (tested on a new project and this problem doesn't occur), the export sounds way different than the playback inside cakewalk. I tried everything I found on the internet and the top results in this forum, but to no avail. The thing is, the file is the problem, not the audio playback device, since when I reimport the file, it sounds just as awful in cakewalk. The top end sounds more crackling than a campfire. Checked the tracks, main busses, the output bus, but nothing stands out. I assume the preference settings are not the problem, since as I mentioned earlier, works as it should in other projects. I tried changing the export settings in every way that I could and they all sound awful. So, what is there to do? I can't continue on this project knowing that I won't be able to ever export an accurate sound. I'll share the project file and tracks if needed.
  2. I have a need to have two CbB projects open at the same time so I can copy/paste between them. There is an option in Preferences/File/Advanced called "Allow Only One Open Project at a Time". My option is NOT checked. Why can't I open more than one project with CbB? Is it now broken? Is there another way? I'm using version 2023.09. My test method is: CbB is initially not running. Open project A by double clicking on A.cwp from Windows File Explorer. Open project B by double clicking on B.cwp from Windows File Explorer. At this point, I expect to have two CbB instances running simultaneously. Instead, what happens is project A is unloaded as soon project B is loaded, all happening from the CbB instance that was created when step 2 completed.
  3. Running version 2023.09 Build 062, 64 bit. Under Preferences/MIDI/Devices, Cakewalk is not recognising the native Windows Microsoft GS Wavetable. It is not possible to assign instruments in Preferences/MIDI/Instruments either. All MIDI tracks are unusable (unless I use an external DI and an external keyoard). How do I get Cakewalk to find Microsoft GS Wavetable again?
  4. Hello community, As a newbie I use a USB midi (Casio CTK 6200) without any audio interface. While recording I get a lot of latency. On the track that I record, MIDI notes are off-grid. The first note is almost on the second note grid. So, I'm stuck. I've a few queries. I'm giving the details below. Please help me. MY DEVICE AND WINDOWS SPPECIFICATIONS A. I'm working on an Asus Tuf Dash F15 gaming laptop with Windows 11. B. Its Device Specifications are given below: Device name: LAPTOP-H6RQDLVH Processo: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11300H @ 3.10GHz 3.11 GHz Installed RAM: 8.00 GB (7.68 GB usable) System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor C. My Windows Specifications are here: Edition: Windows 11 Home Single Language Version: 22H2 Installed on: 12/‎21/‎2022 OS build: 22621.1555 Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22640.1000.0 D. Let me now inform you about my laptop's Storage situation with the screenshot below: E. My laptop's Audio Input and Output Devices are shown in the screenshot below: F. Besides these devices, my laptop's Sound, Video and Game Controllers are shown in another screenshot below. MY QUERIES ABOUT CAKEWALK PREFERENCES: 1. The Audio -- Devices section in my Cakewalk's Preferences show my Realtek (r) Audio in a dimmed manner. It doesn't let me select them. On the other hand, it shows only the Asus Utility with check marks ON which are not dimmed. These are shown in the screenshot below. Are these settings okay for me? 2. Next thing is about Audio -- Driver Settings. It only shows Asus Utility, not the Realtek (R) Audio. Please see the screenshot below. I've done nothing here. All the setting are automatically selected. Are these settings okay for me? 3. The next big thing is about setting proper Driver Mode in my Cakewalk's Audio Playback and Recording Settings. I selected WASAPI Shared as the Driver Mode. Please see the attached screenshot below. Are all the settings okay here? 4. Now about MIDI Input and Output Devices settings. Please see the screenshot below. Here, Casio USB -MIDI is the midi I'm using. It's connected to my laptop while I use Cakewalk. I've checked them to ON status as my MIDI Input and Output Devices. I've also checked Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. Should have I done this or should I uncheck it? 5. The next question is about MIDI Playback and Recording settings. Please see the screenshot below. The Driver Mode is set up to MME automatically. Should I change it to UWP? What about the other settings here? Are they okay for me? Please help me regarding the settings, and suggest me how I could get rid of the Latency Issue while recording from my Casio USB-MIDI. Thank you.
  5. When I changed several theme file names, the list in Preferences retains the old names. I can only surmise this is because the names weren't changed within Theme Editor itself. However, even after I open the theme in Theme Editor (which does see the new name) and Save As with the same new name, the Preferences list remains unchanged. I have to Save As with a different new name and then Save As again with the 1st new name for Preferences to see it. ***The Preferences list should reflect actual theme names no matter how they were changed.***
  6. I just installed Cakewalk by Bandlab and every time I open it it creates a new "Cakewalk Projects" folder on the wrong drive. Cakewalk is installed on my D drive. In preferences I set the Projects folder to the F drive, and made sure the folder exists. I close Cakewalk, delete the folder on D, open Cakewalk and it creates a new "Cakewalk Projects" folder on D. I even restarted the computer, same problem. I re-checked preferences, they look good (still has F for Project folder location. I searched the registry, every entry I can find shows F as the location for the folder. Cakewalk creates the new folder on D as soon as I run it, before any project is opened or created, so it isn't just picking up a ghost path from an old project or anything. I've been a Sonar user from v6 through Platinum, so I know my way around the program fairly well although it's been a couple years since I had Sonar installed. I did install Platinum so I could access the plugins, and I installed the plugins from X3. I also made sure my installation of Platinum specified the F drive for project files (and checked the registry, everything there looked correct), but it too creates a new projects folder on D as soon as I start it. How do I make it stop? In the scheme of things it's not that big of a deal to delete the empty folder, but when I get into a flow state I'm likely to accidentally save to the wrong location. Is there some registry key that isn't labeled with a friendly name that I'm missing? Thanks for any ideas. -Mike Windows 11 Intel i7 11700K 32GB RAM Asus ROG Strix z590E Mobo Focusrite Scarlett 8i8 2nd gen
  7. I know how to change audio and midi preferences in "preferences" but is there a way to change those per project? I need different settings for different projects. Thanks
  8. Can anyone tell me why the option for 'surround' is not showing under project (Preferences/ Project)?
  9. Hello. I'm using the Yamaha Ag06 Audio Interface. I'm also using a voice meter virtual program to calibrate. This time I installed it for cakewalk recording, but I can't choose my ag06. I tried reinstalling the Cake Walk, reinstalling the Amaha driver, and setting Yamaha as my default audio device, but I still couldn't catch it. Let me know if you know how to catch it. It's very urgent.

    Extreme UI Latency

I am completely new to the world of DAWs so apologies in advance for sounding clueless. I have just installed Cakewalk and I essentially cannot use it at all due to extreme lag with the UI. Anytime I click anything or even try to adjust the window, there is a 4-5 second delay before the action is registered. I am not sure how to fix this or even what settings I should begin to look into. To the best of my knowledge, all settings are at default, and my audio drivers are up to date. Does anyone have any idea what I might try to fix this issue? In case it is helpful, here are the relevant specs of my PC: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 RAM: 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz Like I said before, I am completely new to this stuff so please let me know if there is any other information I can provide to help diagnose the issue.
  11. Many of the threads in this (Feedback Loop) forum section are about a user wanting Cakewalk by BandLab (CbB) to work like another daw instead of the way CbB presently works. The requests can roughly be divided intro three groups: feature request, task performance and GUI feedback. Feature requests are beyond the scope of this thread since the request is typically something another daw offers that Cakewalk by BandLab does not or an improvement to an existing feature. An example is this link: https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/4314-browser-notes-font-size/ Task performance is the steps a user must take to perform a task. An example is this link: https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/4203-markers-delete-button/ GUI feedback is how the daw provides feedback to the user. An example is this link: https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/4572-clip-gain-vs-waveform-ala-pro-tools/ My idea is for Cakewalk by BandLab to add two pagess to the "Customization" section of "Preferences". One page is for the user to create task performance macros and the second page allows the user to select daw gui emulation. This idea is for Cakewalk by BandLab to have customization similar to ways Microsoft lets Office users create macros and emulate competitive products. The macros page should have buttons to "learn", "edit" and "delete" along with three columns titled "Name", "Macro" and "Enable/Disable". Each row would contain a macro that would perform whatever task the user has programmed. The gui emulation page would have a drop down menu with the name of various daws. Once a competitive daw name is selected a feature list window opens. Check boxes allows the user to enable or disable a variety of gui features.
  12. Hi All! There use to be a setting that allowed the time cursor to remain at the time where you stopped playing/recording, rather than reverting back to the start time of when you pushed play/record. Is this feature still in the product, and if so where is the setting? Thanks in advance! Mike
