  2. Im hoping to use Cakewalk by bandlab for making Live loops on the fly. Reason being is because I don't want to have to buy Ableton to do so. I'm hoping to also upgrade matrix view in order to record an audio or midi loop and add it straight to a matrix cell. So far matrix view works perfectly for samples and prerecorded samples but not so much for instant loops made on a midi controller or a recorded instrument. At the moment is making a live groove clip but sometimes it doesnt sync in well and theres no way to quickly add the groove into a cell without dragging it or going to audio library. Im hoping there can be a feature to record straight into a cell. (Youtube video example below) I also feel a tempo "link to controller" feature would work pefectly so you can slow down and speed up the song during a live looping session. Matrix view in itself is very underused and underrated with the sheer power you have as a beatmaker. But for the livelooping scene, It still needs a bit more upgrades to make it a Powerhouse. You Suck at Producing- Live Looping - YouTube.url This is an example of what I can see the future of Matrix view do with Cakewalk by bandlab. Most things are already possible but just the specific live looping portions like: Setting up a live loop to a Cell and also linking it to a Cell with a midi controller isnt there yet, changing the tempo. Also to make Sound over Sound happen you have to press P then activate instead of a simple button to make that happen. (in this video it's called Overdub) Also another suggestion is having a specific shortcut that allows you to switch tracks which I notice as well is not present in Cakewalk by Bandlab. (There is Add a new track, Duplicate etc.) but no button to switch the track or a shortcut to arm selected track without arming every track. (unless you click on the track which takes time if you are live looping) There are many other producers asking for the same features especially the midi controlled tempo feature. Please let me know as soon as you can thanks. New Features Suggested___ Tempo able to be Linked to a Controller Live loop recording assignable to a cell Switch Tracks shortcut (Also assignable to a controller) Arm one Track and Record (At the moment its just Arm all tracks ) Please let me know as soon as possible if this could be added to Cakewalk by Bandlab.
  3. Hi. I got a new laptop: Win11, i7-12700h, 32gig, SSDs. It sputters and drops out on the same projects the old one can play without issue. The old one is Win10, i7-9750h, 16gig, SSD for OS, hard drive for audio. All the usual config stuff has been checked on the new one by two people who have done it for years and know what they are doing. Latest version of Cakewalk. Latency mon shows that the new laptop should be better than the old. Is it possible Cakewalk is not yet ready for Win11 or that it is not optimally using the P-cores and E-cores of the 12th gen CPUs? Is there anyway to check its core usage to see if it using all the cores? Thanks.
  4. UPDATE TO THIS TICKET: The motherboard died on the Dell Precision 7920 shortly after the last post on this thread. So, I never go to the bottom of this issue. Many thanks to everyone who did respond. Hi, I'm struggling to get Cakewalk performing reasonably on a high-spec machine and would appreciate any pointers from anyone else who has had similar trouble. In particular, I'm looking for settings in Cakewalk that can help performance (I'm already using the "Use multiprocessing engine" and "Plug-in Load Balancing" options on the desktop - see below). So, I have Cakewalk installed on two machines: 1. My laptop (which I take out for recording): A Dell Inspiron-15-5570 with a single Intel i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz and 16 GB RAM 2. My desktop (which I use for mixing): This is a beast of a machine - A Dell Precision 7920 desktop with two Intel Xeon Silver 4114 CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.19 GHz processors, a total of 96 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA Quadro P620 graphics card. As mentioned above, I'm already using the "Use multiprocessing engine" and "Plug-in Load Balancing" options on this machine. For both, I am using a Steinberg UR22C over USB 3.1 On the basis of the above specs, I would expect the desktop to be: quicker when doing tasks such as freezing tracks and exporting mixed projects more stable, particularly on projects with a lot of plugins However, I am finding them to be much the same in terms of performance. So, for example: Freezing a track takes roughly the same time on each machine Extracting a final mix to a WAV file takes roughly the same time on each machine I simply take it for granted now that Cakewalk will crash at some point during a session and both seem to crash - to be fair, the desktop does seem to be a little more stable than the laptop, especially with plugins So, are there any settings in Cakewalk that I am not taking advantage of to help the desktop speed things up or to make the system more stable? Many thanks Mike
  5. Hey What's up? So I exported a midi file from a music notation software. I went to Cakewalk, opened Spitfire's Soft Piano VST and imported that same midi file to it. When I started listening to it I noticed that whole notes were always cut earlier than they were supposed to... I also noticed that when I had chords the different notes would end in a sequence and not together... Ex: I've a chord with 3 notes that is supposed to last for 4 measures. The first note ends in half a measure the other one in 1 measure and the other one in 1 measure and a half... Can someone Help Me? It's happening with other vsts to I think It's something with the DAW itself... I checked again and in the end there is a part where there is a whole note and it played correctly... I 'm starting to get confused here...
  6. Leverage the matrix engine with the arranger track so we can trigger and playback sections of a song with a midi device. The arranger features allows for multiple different arrangements, but doesn't allow for spontaneity during the performance of a song. being able to assign arranger sections to a midi device and trigger its playback in sync with time will be very beneficial to those who would like to perform live with Cakewalk. The logic of when a sections changes after the new section is triggered should be based on where in musical time the new section starts. If a new triggered section starts on the "a" of 4, then the section should change on the "a" of 4. If it starts on the "1" then it should change to the new section on the down beat. Some of these features are already available in the matrix view. These features will be more useful with arranger track sections.
  7. Some DAWs have red mark on track volume bar, if your music is too loud and goes over limit it turns red and then it have to be cleared manually. Do the same for audio engine not fast enough to do playback in real time. If we starts to drop portions of audio tracks during playback turn audio engine icon red and add some mouse over hint to it. I spend quite a time trying to fixing recordings (why I have holes in tracks while waves looks okay) but it turned out to be just playback problem. Only problem with Cakewalk I have that it cannot handle much tracks at once. I red forums and youtube and it is problem for long years it will probably not fixed anytime soon, maybe add some "draft" mode to audio engine to do faster mixing like reaper.
  8. I installed Cakewalk just yesterday, and I came up with an issue I dont know how to solve! So opened a preset in tyrelln6 in cakewalk then set some notes for it in piano roll, but then i decided to change my preset after i changed it, I went ahead to see how that sounds but it has not updated the sound at all I am hearing previous preset only. What should I do???
  9. I want to build a computer for Cakewalk. Windows 10 Home, 64-bit. I thought of two variants. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Variant 1. To use overclocked RAM. For example Crucial Ballistix AES 3000-3200 MHz, Crucial Ballistix U4 3000 MHz. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Variant 2. To use not overclocked RAM. For example Crucial CT 3200 MHz, Kingston KVR 3200 MHz. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is better for Cakewalk's performance, stability, data safety?
  10. I want to build a computer for Cakewalk. I want to choose how much SSD to use in it. I thought of two variants. In both variants I will not store archive files on computer on which I will work in Cakewalk. Only current project work files will be on computer on which I will work in Cakewalk. Archive files I will store in NAS or another computer with RAID. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Variant 1. On computer for Cakewalk one SSD: M.2, PCI-E x4, NVMe. Two logical disks on it: disk C, disk D. Disk C: Windows 10 Home 64-bit, applications including Cakewalk. Disk D: current project work files. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Variant 2. On computer for Cakewalk two SSDs. Each SSD: M.2, PCI-E x4, NVMe. First SSD. Disk C on it. On disk C: Windows 10 Home 64-bit, applications including Cakewalk. Second SDD. Disk D on it. On disk D: current project work files. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is better for Cakewalk's performance, stability, data safety?
  11. What can I do to stop the popping and clicking during playback? I'm using the Izotope Production Suite for mixing and I understand that this suite is CPU intensive but my CPU never breaks a sweat. I'm hearing consistent popping and crackling (sounds like bacon frying in another room) while mixing with sample buffer settings of 64 to 1024 samples on my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8. I updated to the latest 1.10b3 version of the driver which drastically improved performance but not enough to eliminate the popping and clicking. With a sample buffer size of 64 samples, round trip latency is 9.3 ms (412 samples). With a sample buffer size of 1024 samples, round trip latency is 97 ms (4274 samples). The only difference I notice is that there's significantly more popping and clicking at 64 samples than at 1024 samples. At 64 samples, playback sometimes won't start after a mixing change, but pressing play again gets it going. Focusrite tech support, which has been very supportive, have suggested that the problem could be my DirectX Driver which LatencyMon shows to have a highest execution time of 0.52 ms. Other execution times >0.04 ms are Kernal Mode Driver Framework at 0.497 ms, High Definition Audio Bus Driver at 0.32 ms and TCP/IP Driver at 0.24 ms. I used dxdiag to verify that I have the latest DirectX 12 driver. I also have the Intel Driver and Support Assistant which keeps all Intel related drivers up to date. A screenshot of my PC System Info is attached. I have set Page File Size to 0. My reasoning is that I have 32 GB of memory and Cakewalk doesn't us more that 12 GB. I'd set the Page File to 800 MB as recommended by the Page File setting dialog to have enough room for a dump file, but decided to go to 0 MB because LatencyMon was showing Hard Pagefaults and I thought that Windows 10 might be moving memory pages to memory even when there's lots of available memory. Pagefaults did drastically reduce but not to 0. With the Page File set to 0 MB LatencyMon shows 6 Hard Pagefaults. How can that be? I've attached a Memory Resource Monitor screenshot showing memory use during Cakewalk playback. The CPU Resource Monitor and the Cakewalk Performance Monitor that none of my CPU's 12 threads are more that 10% utilized. Basically it looks like my computer is idling along not breaking a sweat while I'm hearing all this popping and clicking. Is there some way to get my computer to take more interest in eliminating popping and clicking? My ASUS X99-Deluxe II Motherboard has 40 PCIe lanes a number of BIOS setting options to to best use those. I've settled on settings that seemed best for me but I'm not sure. My main two drives are M.2 and the third is a SSD. My video card is an AMD R7 250 series. It has an AMD Settings app that is frequently requesting that I update the Radeon driver that I'm not even sure I need because I don't do video games, 3D graphics, or use the HDMI audio output. I also have an Intel Thunderbolt 3 card which I still can't afford a audio interface to use. Any suggestions appreciated.
  12. With my Sonar Platinum installation, I spread files across 3 drives - Program & plugins on C, Cakewalk content & samples on D, project, audio, and video on E. Cakewalk bandlab does not let you chose the locations during install (greyed out). Can I move the folders and change it? Is there any risk to doing this? Why does it not give you the option to customize?
  13. Hi there. I have some thoughts about live mode and OSC support. First of all, of course Ableton Live, Mainstage are the leaders in live performance mode. In Cakewalk we have matrix mode which is like a Clip Mode in Live, also we have performace playlist to load projects for gig. What I would like to see is to have full support of OSC to control my Cakewalk in gig. There's a thing called AZSLOW which was added to support some OSC stuff. But it's not built in, so if i was a noob, I couldn't start perform with OSC in classic terms. So, please add full OSC support to use things like LEMUR, TouchOSC. Then, I would like to see improvements in playlist. I would like to see it in separate docker to organize things well. Of course in mobile era there's a thing called Ableton link to sync which would be cool to use with Cakewalk.
