About Me

  1. I cut/pasted a bunch of midi note events from 2 to track 3. I mistakenly moved sustain pedal control events along with the notes. I've made a lot of edits to the moved note events before discovering the problem with pedal controls. I thought I'd just go into event view and change the track 3 sustain events to track 2, but Event List won't let me change track numbers. There must be an easy way to do this. How?

  4. Hi ! I'm really sorry to ask this silly question, but I've been trying to solve this problem for hours and nothing has worked. When I import a midi file (from my Roland FP30 with USB stick), the software speeds up the whole song for no reason. Is this a settings error? Thank you very much for your valuable answers! Anikz
  5. Hi! I'm new to Cakewalk and not an English speaker. I have issues with Xpand!2 and Ripchord. Cakewalk recognizes them, but when a press a key in the midi controller, there's no sound. What happens? Can anybody help me, please? I'd really like to use those plugins. Maria
  6. Hi is there any chance that use could add plugin preset loading from within the browser window as well as 3rd party plugins presets loading into Cakewalk by BandLab. What i mean by this is when you mouse wheel click on a fxp preset or fxb bank in BandLab browser window it loads the preset or bank into the plugin you have open. Fl Studio and Studio One and some other DAWS have this integrated into their browser and they can also load midi files this way into the channels racks , while some 3rd party plugins have their own way of loading and sorting presets and their own presets format like u-he and native instruments others synths like Sylenth and Dune and from what i know most other instruments and effects also use fxp and with the added into the browser it would speed up the users workflow considerable. All the best 😃
  7. When I tried to save my CWP file as MIDI Format 1, all my effects setting are default to 0 for Chorus and 40 for Reverb. This never happened to me in Sonar X3 before. Sonar X3 maintain the setting on all the active tracks, while the Cakewalk by Bandlab loose them all to default. Does anyone know what happen?
  8. Hi everybody I have a simple problem but I cannot solve it (probably because are several years that I didn't used cawalk anymore and now I installed bandlab release). I created a blank project and added standard Drum kit VST. then I imported an existing Midi File, muted all tracks except DRUM ones. this track is redirected to SI-DRUMKIT1: If I play, i see that MIDI track is running but I cannot hear anything. Any ideas?
  9. How can I make a piece of MIDI track sound as if each note were doubled an octave lower, but without adding new note events to the track? Please see the first attached image. In Cakewalk, the track is played back with the Windows default MIDI synthesizer, and it’s assigned the Accordion program. I want to mimic a mode (available with a register switch on a real accordion) where each written note actually sounds as a charmonic octave, with the second note added an octave lower. I can just double the notes, as shown on the second image, and this sounds satisfactory for my goals, but the staff (and the piano roll as well) becomes a mess and looks misleading, since I’m actually pressing double keys on the accordion, not quadruple ones. Is there an effect or another way to make the piece play back according to the second image while keeping actual MIDI notes according to the first?
  10. A permanent MIDI input chord display in the Control Bar would be fantastic! Below is my concept art: We do have the MIDI plugin "Chord Analyzer", which is good (but lacks selection of "b vs #" chord naming) but it would just be super convenient if Cakewalk at all times could display any chords detected at MIDI inputs and/or currently scrubbed. Check out how Logic Pro X has always done it: . Courtesy of the "Make Chords and Melodies Easily In Logic Pro X" YouTube video that demonstrates the live chord detection. EDIT: Updated with new correct image!

  12. Hello guys, could anyone advice on my problem please? CbB does not see midi input device. There is nothing on the list and my digital piano is plugged in. I use cakewalk UA-25 EX interface. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Bart

    what is best pad

Hi, Im loooking for Drum pad for Cakewalk. but there's a little data. Akai, Roland ..etc. what is best pad for making beats?
  14. The piano roll no longer highlights the keys I press on an external MIDI controller... but it should, right? 😂It has always done this...or am I going crazy!?
  15. I'm a new user of Cakewalk by Bandlab I have a MIDI keyboard (C. Aemon LP-6108A) connected to my PC with a MIDI-USB cable (only MIDI in is plugged in, if that changes something), and it works fine. However, when I'm recording using the keyboard, recorded notes' sustain lasts until I stop recording. I have no other MIDI keyboard or DAW, so I can't test if it's fault of my keyboard or Cakewalk. However, when I'm recording on my PC's keyboard, everything works fine. I think it's good to mention that I don't have a sustain pedal. I've been searching throught entire internet for the answer to my question, however found nothing that helped me I would be very grateful for any help, I also put the screenshot of how recorded notes look like
  16. According to Release Notes for Cakewalk 2020.09, “Cakewalk now uses UTF-8 encoding by default for all text strings, including track name, clips names, Lane descriptions, Arranger sections, Notes Browser, Lyrics view, etc.” This is good news, but it’s not true for MIDI files that Cakewalk creates. Whenever you try to save or export a project as MIDI file (in any of the suggested MIDI formats), all UTF-8 gets lost, and all non-ASCII characters turn to question marks. Does anybody know a way to save Cakewalk project as MIDI while preserving UTF-8 encoding of text strings?
  17. This is the scenario, I have a lot of external gear controlled by MIDI tracks (output) and a few controllers providing MIDI In. If I open a project where one of the external devices is disconnected / powered off / not available, then the MIDI data is assigned to a random MIDI device Tracks receiving input from the missing midi controller are set to receive input from random MIDI devices(s) Tracks outputting to a missing MIDI devices are, more often than not, assigned to a random VST within the project This causes havoc when opening the project, and it's not possible to prevent this from happening. It's particularly problematic for outputs - they get assigned to a random VST in the project, which can result in a program change being sent - which then changes the VST patch the project was originally saved with. E.g. A test project with Novation SL2 connected (it has both MIDI In and MIDI Out, to demonstrate ) If I open the same project, without the SL2 connected: The MIDI output on track 1 has been set to control Xpand2 (resulting in a patch change) The MIDI input on track 1 has been changed from 'None' to a random MIDI input device The MIDI input on track 2 has been set to a random device in the MIDI input list The changes were made silently - no warnings given - which makes it very easy to miss in even in a fairly simple project. I guess there was a use case for this at some point, but frankly I can't imagine how this behaviour can be of use to anyone... 😉 Instead, can please we have an option in preferences along the lines of If this option is checked, when opening the project, any MIDI inputs / outputs set to missing midi devices are set to 'None' rather than some random allocation. This would massively help my workflow - at the moment I'm on tenterhooks every time I open a project (esp. at a different location), looking for any silent changes that have been made. Hopefully the checkbox option would be a quick fix to prevent the craziness of above. I guess the longer term solution would be a dialog presented when opening the project to prompt the user to select the Midi device to be used for each missing MIDI device - similar to what happens for audio. Cheers, Matt
  18. Hello, I'm looking to purchase a new midi keyboard/Controller (61 or 73 keys). Any suggestions? Most recent ones don't seem to support CbB out of the box... I would like to buy something with at least transports buttons. Thanks
  19. Hi! I'm recording a midi with my drumkit and I can't map a specific note. Cakewalk is registering it as B1 but adding that to my drum map is not doing anything What could i be missing? I'm using the Out Note Bb3 (46) that's also being used as output somewhere else because that's exactly what i want (both notes producing the same sound), could that be related somehow? I'm kinda amateur with these applications so maybe i'm missing something simple Thanks!
  20. Good morning all, Hope you're well! I've currently got a lot of long midi clips that i'd like to reduce to smaller lengths so that I can organise them better into a library. Is there any ability to automate this process within Cakewalk or does anyone know of other VST's/software that will achieve this goal? The ideal method i'm looking for is to present the source file and then simple the size of the output in terms of bars. Bonus points if I can do this as a batch activity over a number files! I've looked into a few things so far, but haven't found an effective solution. Best wishes, Matthew

  22. Hi The Problem: I have a Mackie Control Universal, the old grey one. It seems to have developed a problem in that it sends intermittent, uncommanded midi signals which cause the virtual master fader in cakewalk to move rapidly up and down about a decibel in volume. It seemingly happens randomly, several times a minute, sometimes once a minute or less, lasting a few seconds at a time. I have used Midi-Ox to record the output signals - see the attached pic. My Mackie has the upgraded cpu chip (v3.0.0 up from v2.1.2) and two PWM chips, upgraded to v3.50. Things I've Tried: Tried 2 different Midi interfaces - a Focusrite 4i4 and a Miditech 4x4. I have taken the Mackie all apart and undone and redone all the connectors. I have swapped all the chips with the other upgraded ones from my mackie extender. I've also tried putting the old chips back in (v2.1.2). I've tried pressing every button and turned every knob and moved ever fader to see if something was sticking. I disabled the physical Master Fader on the Mackie by pulling its connector off and ran Cakewalk to see if that would stop the problem. It didn't, the virtual Master Fader still recieved a midi signal from the Mackie and randomly shook the fader up and down. Checked the Mackie is in MCU mode. Checked the controllers setup in cakewalk - Mackie first, Extender 2nd amd C4 third. Ran Cakewalk with just the Mackie and no extender or C4 controller. The whole setup seems ruined now. It was working fine before the weekend. As it only affects the virtual Master Fader (or the Bus Fader - depending upon what I have the physical fader set too in the Mackie options), is there a way of disabling the Mackies input to cakewalk's Master Fader? I don't really use it so I wouldn't miss it. I know I can select in Cakewalks Mackie options which fader to assign to the physical Master fader - either 1.Master Fader or 2.Bus Fader. I would like to be able to disable it completley. Any help would be really appreciated. I've spent all weekend on this. And as I said, my whole Cakewalk/Mackie setup is ruined by this. Regards, Chris
  23. Hi all. Apparently when one has a midi track in a project that is not used it's output is set to the standard midi out port as defined in preferences midi devices. And even if there is no midi out channel selected on the track channel dropdown menu the midi information is sent anyway. Is this normal behaviour for cakewalk? Or is it due to my setup? I use midi primarily to send control data via loopMIDI (http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html) to VCV rack and secondarily to manipulate soft synths and plugins in cakewalk. As I just spent the better part of the morning thusfar to figure out that my project was going bonkers because of a midi track that wasn't supposed to send any data (the input echo is off, there's no output channel selected but the output is (automatically) set), I'm well, a tad annoyed. I'm also slightly mystified as to why the midi input can be set to none, but not the midi output. This can be done with audio tracks, why not midi tracks? By the way, I've noticed that midi inputs get changed when closing a project and reopening it; inputs that were set to none suddenly are set to all inputs, sometimes even to two inputs simultaneously. Just thought I'd mention it. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. Thnx in advance. Enjoy
  24. Suddenly recording of music became terrible. When i hold key more than 1 second appears sound of other note. Sometimes it changes after half second, sometimes after 10. Also can hear other notes during playing records. This `plugin` is on every instrument.
