About Me

  1. I've been having troubles getting full integration with cakewalk with the Nektar Lx25+ unit. been talking with Justin over at Nektar and he's stumped. drivers installed in the correct place, correct settings in shared surfaces. midi IS getting thru, i can play a vst. all controls showing midi action in windows midi display. but fader/transport/and knobs not activating anything. Justin wants to know if anyone with Cakewalk has any imput with this. it's a communication thing, almost like something needs to be turned on in the software? thanks jim
  2. Open the Cakewalk by BandLab DAW, select "Help" in the menu and then "Getting Started Guide" to open this webpage: https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/categories/360000226093-Getting-Started. The webpage does an excellent job of answering important questions existing DAW users or people familiar with the product name might have during the ownership transition so I'm not suggesting to eliminate the webpage. I just believe the webpage information deserves a different name as it offers little advice on getting started with Cakewalk. The majority of the bulleted information describes tasks a user must accomplish to acquire the DAW file. The tasks described in many of the webpage bullets (open a BandLab account, download and install BandLab Assistant, install and open the program) would have been performed by a user prior to having the ability to click on the Help menu link. One suggestion is to rename the help link and webpage to "Frequently Asked Ownership Transition Questions" and remove the last three bullet points from the webpage. The second suggestion is to redirect the "Getting Started Guide" link to CakeTV's Sonar University homepage: https://www.cakewalk.com/CakeTV/SONAR-University. This link is going to become increasingly important to the success of Cakewalk by BandLab as it attracts users with little to no DAW experience.
  3. I have been puzzled with this for a while. So I am not sure I fully understand how this setting is implemented. I feel a little embaraased as I have used Cakewalk for quite a while . It seems that no matter what I try and change the dropdown to it always reverts back to what you see in the image above; is this normal? Looking through the help notes as well. I am also looking at possibly just deleting and restoring my AUD.INI and see if that sort of resolves anything. Thanks for helping me understand.
  4. I can't install Cakewalk. Every time I start the download (In the process of: Downloading... (0/5) ), it suddenly stop. The time that the download stop it's random: could spend an hour downloading, and sometimes just passed 15 minutes, but it always stop (Sometimes when the progress it's (5/5) or (3/5). I don't know if this it's normal. But I've tried install cakewalk for an entire week and I'd never made it. What can I do? (Btw: my download speed is very bad tho, meaby that's the main issue, but there's no other alternative?)
  5. I'm a macbook pro user(bootcamp) and have Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 31) audio card. but my cakewalk says that there are no audio devices for the current driver model on your system. Please go to edit>preferences>audio>playback and recording and choose a different driver model. but I can't find list of drivers... help me. what do I have to do? +I've setted driver mode to ASIO
  6. I have an Alesis Q49 MIDI keyboard. My computer (Windows 10) is able to recognize the device just fine. The keyboard driver is up to date, as I checked the device manager. In Cakewalk under Preferences > MIDI > Devices, the Q49 is listed there. However, I can't check the checkbox next to Q49 and instead, I get an error saying that the Q49 "doesn't have enough memory available" (Screenshot 1). I also get two other errors which I'm not sure are related or not; one says "Silent buses detected" and that silent bus is "master" (Screenshot 2). The other error I get before Cakewalk opens is "There are no audio devices for the current driver model on your system" (Screenshot 3) which I don't understand. I also have a microphone plugged into my computer (which Windows detects), and (not sure if this makes any difference) in Cakewalk audio recording preferences, I have the driver mode set to ASIO. This is basically where I'm stuck with setting up the keyboard. Any help will be much appreciated, thank you. - India
  7. I'm revisiting The Artist Formerly Known As SONAR™ again specifically for composing orchestral pieces etc. Bought a copy of X3 on Steam but didn't find myself using it much - too many little frustrations compared to Studio One. However I've come back to it because unlike S1, Sonar Cakewalk can handle multiple MIDI channels within a single MIDI track, which is much faster and more efficient for changing instrument articulations etc. So I've got a single track for Violins I pointed to Kontakt with several patches, so within that track channel 1 = legato, channel 2=sustain, channel 3=spiccato etc etc. This works great in Reaper, notes form each channel get a slightly different colour and there's loads of options to filter which ones you're looking at. I'll also be using it to write divisi parts (like four french horns playing individual notes). Try as I might though, Cakenar seems to just display all notes, all the time. I can add separate CCs for each instrument, and I can change the channel of notes using Track Inspector, but is there a way to filter so I only view notes from one channel at once? And is there a way to have notes on different channels display in different colours? I've been googling for ages and can't find anything. If not, then the main advantage of Sonalk is basically null and void so I might as well stick to track-per-articulation in Studio One
  8. The virtual drums are playing and recording triplets even tough I'm only clicking it once. Does anyone know how to change this or what is causing it?
