About Me

  1. New to Cakewalk by Bandlab so I apologize for what is likely a basic setup question. I am using a Roland OCTA Capture audio interface between my Korg Kronos and Windows 10 on my laptop. I record a drum track then try to add another instrument on a secondary track and when I play it back after recording the two are out of sync by a very small amount. The sample rates are consistent between all components. Is there another adjustment that needs to be made in Cakewalk or my audio interface to compensate for the timing between playback and record? What am I missing???
  2. Hi, First couple of days using cakewalk so this might be a stupid question, but I cannot figure out a process for splitting out each step lane in a given instrument track into multiple audio tracks. For context, I am using the MT Power Drum Kit VST, and have punched in a pattern using the Cakewalk step sequencer. What I want to do is split/bounce each of the lanes in the step sequenced pattern out into individual audio tracks. I can see there is something similar which I believe is called Freeze, but doing this bounces the who sequence as one, and not as split tracks? This was easy in cubase so assume you can do it easily here, but reading around online I haven't seen a solution that works?
  3. Hi all, I have been working on a project this morning and it has autosaved several copies to the project folder but, having exported the audio to create a final FLAC mix, the audio within the Cakewalk project is no longer audible. The console view VU meters are showing audio being played but no sound is reaching the speakers/headphones. I can't therefore do anything more to edit the project I have undone any muted tracks and checked the outputs from each track go to the Master and Master outputs to speakers. I should note all my other projects are ok (and Ableton also works fine) it's just this one project which I have been working on for a few hours today. I haven't to my knowledge changed any of the sound settings on my laptop. Notably the first version of this project I saved (before all the autosaves and later manual saves) plays fine but that doesn't have any of the additional tracks and work I have put in today. Is there a way I can do something within this particular project to correct this? EDIT: I have a second monitor attached to my laptop by HDMI cable. Routing the Master output to the HDMI makes the sound audible but then re-selecting the laptop speakers sends it inaudible again. Not sure how sorry, but this seems to have something to do with the audio settings on the laptop. In Cakewalk it is still showing the Master outputting to the HDMI, but the sound is coming back through the headphones attached to the laptop.... No idea either! I have tried this on other projects and it is fine switching between the HDMI output and the speakers output. Is this something to do with how this particular project has autosaved perhaps? Thank you for your assistance.
  4. Hello. I am, for the most part, new to Cakewalk and DAW's in general and I can't seem to get any sound out of Cakewalk no matter what I do. I do not have a separate audio card and I am just using my windows computer's sound card for now. I know that the sound doesn't work because I've tried messing around with the virtual instruments but I have had no luck. I can't seem to hear anything from cakewalk. I've tried changing the Driver Mode many times, I've tried changing the sampling rate and using the Wave Profiler to verify the sample rate. I've tried to make sure that I have the Correct Input and Output devices checked. It feels like I've tried everything and still no luck. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
  5. If I record a 5 second melody in an audio track, then drag it into a midi track it's just the same note hit over and over. Why is the audio to midi converter only detecting 1 pitch?
  6. I will preface this post by saying that I am very new to cakewalk and making music in general. I don't know much about computers so forgive my ignorance. I just downloaded cakewalk and I also added the Synth 1 VSTi plugin to it. My hope is to use my Beats headphone with this program, and when I have cakewalk running and my headphones connected, it sounds like they are connected to record. It sounds like voice chat on discord, like airy and like it wants me to use my microphone, so I know that it is connected. But, I can't hear anything. Even when I switch programs, like to watch youtube, and cakewalk is running, I still hear the airy sound and no other audio. Now I tried making sure that my output was to my headphones in cakewalk, and from what I can tell it was. I attempted to find solutions to this but I kept getting stuck. So I closed the program to watch some youtube videos on the topic. However, now my headphones aren't working with youtube or any other audio program on my computer even when cakewalk is no longer running! I went to my system settings and the output is on my headphones and the volume is fine, but no sound. I then connected my headphones to my iphone to see if they decided to stop working all of a sudden and they work on my phone just fine. In my attempts to fix this issue I didn't really change any settings except for trying different outputs on cakewalk to the various MIDI options available, so I really don't know what I did to make such a problem arise. Any help y'all could lend a nube would be very appreciated.

  8. Randomly and often Cakewalk qill just 'han'g when trying to export audio. Sometimes it works, more often than not I have to kill it in Task Manage r and try again (sometimes multiple times). This also will hang when I try to change the track output from the Inspector view. If I change it form the tracks->selecttrack output it does not hang. The export thing is driving me crazy

  12. I'm recording with a USB microphone and a MIDI keyboard (both plugged directly into the computer with no interface) and the for the audio track that I record on with the microphone, there's an instant playback. With the MIDI track that I record on with my keyboard, however, there's a fifth of a second delay on the playback. I think it may be because the audio track has the output set to my headphones, but the MIDI track makes me use Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth as the output? If so, how could I make my headphones be the output for my MIDI track? I'm new to this so IDK I'm dum. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  15. So, I am very new to Cakewalk, and over the last few days I've been learning the ropes enough to get back to tracking. Having said that, everything was fine until this morning. Now whenever I add a new audio track, some lady (presumably the warden of a women's prison) shouts at me "TRIAL!!!" until I panic and close the program. No plugins active when this happens. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Lenovo M92 with 8GB ram and 500GB HDD. PLEASE HELP BEFORE SHE INVADES MY DREAMS!!

  18. Hey all. I've been dabbling with Cakewalk for the past month, enjoying it btw, but this one project, Track 2 (for reference), has been giving me constant issues. When I try to record vocals, I can only record for about 12-16 measures before the sound slows down, and the audio gets heavily distorted and almost impossible to listen to. Same exact thing happens when I listen for that length, and when I exported the file to a WAV, it distorts at a certain point (about a minute in). I've tried several things: changing the driver setup from MME to WDM, and ASIO, I've tried changing the buffer in Preferences>Audio>Driver Settings>Mixing Latency from 4 buffers in playback queue to 2 and 16 (2 made it worse, 16 was no different from 4). I've tried changing the settings on my VST instruments, switching out instruments, and that helped with a distortion problem I had alongside this, but not the whole issue itself unfortunately. I also deleted and reinstalled AUD.INI, and that did nothing either. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks in advance. -- Other (possibly important details): Computer: - OS: Windows 10 - CPU: Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60 GHz - RAM: 8 GB - System Type: 64-bit OS, x64 bit Processor - Storage: 1 TB Non-Cakewalk VSTs in use: BPB Cassette Drums 808 -- drums Dexed -- synth Distorque Azurite -- vocal stereo shaper Rough Rider - VST sound effect Xsub 808 - bass sub Tracks in use on the project: 12 P.S. 22. Just not too long ago Deezer open sourced this interesting A.I. software called Spleeter. Its a A.I. tool trained and designed to separate audio based on vocals or instruments. Its not by any means perfect but a facinating tool that could be potentially implemented into cakewalk: https://github.com/deezer/spleeter Spleeter, a Deezer source seperation library is written in python and uses Tensorflow to separate (According to their Github Readme): Vocals (singing voice) / accompaniment separation (2 stems) Vocals / drums / bass / other separation (4 stems) Vocals / drums / bass / piano / other separation (5 stems) Pretty cool A.I. software to be honest. Would anybody here agree that this should be implemented into Cakewalk?
  23. Upon booting Cakewalk, everything else goes silent, YouTube, any calls I might be on, any other form of audio playback stops working apart from cakewalk. As well as this, whenever I play anything in cakewalk there's a chance I get a sort of audio buffery noise, like its only playing the first tiny bit of the track over and over so it becomes this distorted drone, any suggestions on help?
  24. When I was exporting a track (or tracks) in WAV so I could get it to a friend, the audio waves just disappeared on all 18 tracks. The track title and all that stuff is still there on the left side, but where the audio sound waves should be on the right side, it's just black. I tried exporting both a single track (didn't work) and then all the tracks (didn't work). Not sure when this happened, but it happened during one of those processes. I have already tried the hide/show button. Did I just send my whole song into the etherland of the lost?
  25. I just updated to the latest ez drummer 2 and cakewalk updates and now when I try to record guitar or bass, the now time marker in ez drummer 2 starts moving as soon as the metronome starts and then it's all out of sync. When I just playback the song it follows the host. Only when I record a bass or guitar track it starts moving before it should be. It never used to do this. Actually when I would rewind the project to the beginning and hit record it would move forward a bit and it would throw me off so I had to start muting the drums. Any advice or way to fix this? It's super frustrating.
