  2. I'm recording with a USB microphone and a MIDI keyboard (both plugged directly into the computer with no interface) and the for the audio track that I record on with the microphone, there's an instant playback. With the MIDI track that I record on with my keyboard, however, there's a fifth of a second delay on the playback. I think it may be because the audio track has the output set to my headphones, but the MIDI track makes me use Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth as the output? If so, how could I make my headphones be the output for my MIDI track? I'm new to this so IDK I'm dum. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  5. So, I am very new to Cakewalk, and over the last few days I've been learning the ropes enough to get back to tracking. Having said that, everything was fine until this morning. Now whenever I add a new audio track, some lady (presumably the warden of a women's prison) shouts at me "TRIAL!!!" until I panic and close the program. No plugins active when this happens. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Lenovo M92 with 8GB ram and 500GB HDD. PLEASE HELP BEFORE SHE INVADES MY DREAMS!!

  8. Hey all. I've been dabbling with Cakewalk for the past month, enjoying it btw, but this one project, Track 2 (for reference), has been giving me constant issues. When I try to record vocals, I can only record for about 12-16 measures before the sound slows down, and the audio gets heavily distorted and almost impossible to listen to. Same exact thing happens when I listen for that length, and when I exported the file to a WAV, it distorts at a certain point (about a minute in). I've tried several things: changing the driver setup from MME to WDM, and ASIO, I've tried changing the buffer in Preferences>Audio>Driver Settings>Mixing Latency from 4 buffers in playback queue to 2 and 16 (2 made it worse, 16 was no different from 4). I've tried changing the settings on my VST instruments, switching out instruments, and that helped with a distortion problem I had alongside this, but not the whole issue itself unfortunately. I also deleted and reinstalled AUD.INI, and that did nothing either. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks in advance. -- Other (possibly important details): Computer: - OS: Windows 10 - CPU: Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60 GHz - RAM: 8 GB - System Type: 64-bit OS, x64 bit Processor - Storage: 1 TB Non-Cakewalk VSTs in use: BPB Cassette Drums 808 -- drums Dexed -- synth Distorque Azurite -- vocal stereo shaper Rough Rider - VST sound effect Xsub 808 - bass sub Tracks in use on the project: 12 P.S. If there's any other helpful information y'all would need, ask and I'll give.

  12. Just not too long ago Deezer open sourced this interesting A.I. software called Spleeter. Its a A.I. tool trained and designed to separate audio based on vocals or instruments. Its not by any means perfect but a facinating tool that could be potentially implemented into cakewalk: https://github.com/deezer/spleeter Spleeter, a Deezer source seperation library is written in python and uses Tensorflow to separate (According to their Github Readme): Vocals (singing voice) / accompaniment separation (2 stems) Vocals / drums / bass / other separation (4 stems) Vocals / drums / bass / piano / other separation (5 stems) Pretty cool A.I. software to be honest. Would anybody here agree that this should be implemented into Cakewalk?
  13. Hi all! I have been having an intermittent problem with Cakewalk (and maybe Sonar?) for a long time, but unfortunately I can't really reproduce it reliably. I preview a lot of wav files using the browser, and sometimes certain files "bypass" the preview bus and somehow play back anyway, often REALLY LOUDLY, making me jump in my chair. No meter in Cakewalk moves, but I can see the sound card mixer software reacting. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does it seems to affect a specific file: that file always has the same problem every time I play it during that session. I just had the issue with a wav loop, but after restarting Cakewalk, the same file played back normally through the preview bus. 😕 So I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I just had the problem on Cakewalk 2019.09 build 70. I don't know how to troubleshoot or to properly report it...
  14. When I was exporting a track (or tracks) in WAV so I could get it to a friend, the audio waves just disappeared on all 18 tracks. The track title and all that stuff is still there on the left side, but where the audio sound waves should be on the right side, it's just black. I tried exporting both a single track (didn't work) and then all the tracks (didn't work). Not sure when this happened, but it happened during one of those processes. I have already tried the hide/show button. Did I just send my whole song into the etherland of the lost?
  15. I just updated to the latest ez drummer 2 and cakewalk updates and now when I try to record guitar or bass, the now time marker in ez drummer 2 starts moving as soon as the metronome starts and then it's all out of sync. When I just playback the song it follows the host. Only when I record a bass or guitar track it starts moving before it should be. It never used to do this. Actually when I would rewind the project to the beginning and hit record it would move forward a bit and it would throw me off so I had to start muting the drums. Any advice or way to fix this? It's super frustrating.
  16. Upon booting Cakewalk, everything else goes silent, YouTube, any calls I might be on, any other form of audio playback stops working apart from cakewalk. As well as this, whenever I play anything in cakewalk there's a chance I get a sort of audio buffery noise, like its only playing the first tiny bit of the track over and over so it becomes this distorted drone, any suggestions on help?
  17. Hi guys, I’m pretty new to the whole producing thing, but everything’s been going fine until now. I was making music whilst traveling just using my keys on the laptop as MIDI input, with my headphones plugged in only. When I got home, I plugged my audio interface in too, and now I can’t hear anything in the tracks I made. I also can’t hear live feedback when I play MIDI instruments. I’ve tried changing my input and output settings so that none of them are from my laptop & are instead from my audio interface, but nothing seems to be working. Also tried changing the driver to ASIO & just about every other option available. Can anyone help? Thanks!
  18. In my Audio Devicesc: ASIO4all v2 micn 1 input driver and ASIO v2 hpout 1 output then i see "in use by another application" ms g5 wavetable synth enabled? Driver Mode=ASIO and Assign Inst to midi to output. How does all of this effect or interact with my Akai LPK25? Thanks!!

  20. I have been pulling what is left of my hair out trying to hear and or see my soft synths being manipulated by my LPK25 MIDI Keyboard Controller. I have changed so many settings in so many places I am just lost! I have worked in the computer world for over 25 years, Engineering, Licensed Surveyor, Geographic Information Systems Director and Developer and this Audio stuff is hard to understand, hurting my ego, lol! Oh, I was a musician in the mid 70's for 6 years. What are the separate areas or parameters that need be set up and in what sequence? I see Audio settings and MIDI Devices "in-out", ASIO and EEM and Microsoft? What should I do in what order? I simply want to record synths/music with my headphones using my VST's and Akai LPK25. Thank you for any help, this old hippy needs some help.
  21. I had a friend tutoring me w/ audio, but unfortunately he has been sidetracked lately. Well, for 6 mos actually. I doubt I'll have access again. I've been on my own just as I was starting to understand a little!?! 1. I remember he'd have me take midi trks and record them as stereo into the audio . Then he would take them back to mono after bouncing them. Never understood that nor was experienced enough to question the process. 2. He would use a process to create silence between inactive sections within the bounced trk, why? Should I? 3. I can understand a mono trk I believe, if using a solo instrument or section. But, I occasionally use ensembles (GPO5, orchestral comp). Why make this mono? I don't remember that he did this or even suggested it (getting foggy at 75). Should or can the two be present in the mix down? 3a Ancillary to that, how does pan fit into the process. For ex, if I use a full string ensemble, does pan influence the balance? I'd say yes intuitively. 4. Is there a concise tutorial suggesting a process after the input portion - ie all midi trks ready to go in terms of balance, EQ, volume etc? I use orch stuff primarily and don't know if there is an actual difference in technique from current pop music mixing ideas. I appreciate any help. Willard
  22. So I've recently decided (the music bug is biting me) to start making music again, but due to circumstance need to use headphones. (Can't have bass drums knocking out of my monitors at 3am) Problem: distorted sounds in headphone playback in Sonar... Details: plugging headphone into PC headphone jack it pops up a box and says device disconnected etc... anyway i can select HD Audio Device on the output and the sound plays through headphones... If i open a new project, and select the HD Audio Device RT and play sounds they come out really distorted (audio not clipping) but sounds horribly distorted. If I open an existing project and select the HD Audio Device, the sound is completely fine... I've checked the settings in preferences (from new project and existing project) of the devices and playback and they're identical. I really can't figure out why the sound is distorting in a fresh project but not existing projects when using the headphone jack output selected as HE Audio Device RT. Please help. Note: in all situations crackling n buzzing of the computer can be heard in the headphones... But sound from YouTube, and everywhere else plays back fine.
  23. I am working with a consultant on mixing and producing. We work over Zoom meetings (similar to GoToMeeting, etc). But I cannot find a way in Cakewalk by Bandlab to set the audio preferences to share the audio over the Zoom meeting. I am using a PCs with Windows 7 and Windows 10, and using a TASCAM US-1800 as my audio interface. When I go into Prefs, all I see are the US-1800. On the consultant's end (he is using Apple), his Logic Pro DAW could select Zoom as one of the shareable audio outputs. Is there a way for me to share my Cakewalk by Bandlab DAW audio over a Zoom meeting like this? Thanks!

  25. I'm trying to export my audio as a file and listen to it back in Microsoft Groove Music ( I'm trying to export it as a final consumer format not for mastering or anything ). And I expected that it will be the simplest part of the whole music creation process, you know just select 16 bit depth that every player supports, Stereo, 44100 Sample Rate, Master Bus as the audio source, every option in mix enables except from audible bounce, live input, and 64-bit Engine ( btw I tried with those enabled separetly and it still did not work ), no Dithering ( but I tried with triangular just in case ), And I tried Wave, wav, flac, mp3 and some other that I don't remember. And guess what, It did not work PS: there is nothing wrong with my "Groove Music" because it works no problem with music I download online. And second thing is that files exported from Cakewalk can be imported back inside the DAW and sound completly normal when played back there ( Yes even with all those crazy options I put above ) ( And no I'm not putting the same file in over and over because when I play it back in "Groove Music" the errors sound different depending on options I use. ) And I also tried ( from desperation ) every bit depth combination ( and what even is this "extra encoding options / sub format" this makes no sense! why have to audio formats in one file! ) But anyway I tried it all, and I still can't make the export sound the same as when i'm playing it back in the DAW itself. I'm surely doing something wrong here. Please help, I beg you, I can't work it out by myself. And if you want to make it painless, just give me options that work as consumer formats that I can play in a standard player like "Groove Music". But if you have time please also explain what is this "sub format" in "extra encoding options" (that btw disapears when I enable dithering). Thanks in advance for help I'm kinda new to this thing.
