  1. Hi all! I discovered Cakewalk this summer and what an amazing tool it is! I had to take a break due to life but I am back to experimenting. One thing I loved that I figured out over the summer was being able to create a melody in the piano roll, usually with Vital, and then enable the arpeggiator in the midi side panel (not the "insert effect" one) and then use "bounce to clip(s)" to essentially edit the individual notes in the piano roll to reflect what I heard with the arpeggiator enabled, automatically disabling the arpeggiator after but keeping its effect embedded in the actual notes themselves. Yesterday I was fooling around with a melody and created something I love, however, when I bounce it to clips, what's produced is considerably different than what I hear with the arpeggiator enabled. It's similar but not nearly as good and changes the flow and rhythm far too much. I searched like crazy since then but have not been able to find anything regarding this specific issue. Can someone help me understand what I'm not grasping? Or another method to achieve the same result? Thank you for reading and for any wisdom you can dispense!
  2. I really like Cakewalk considering it is free to use, and quite extendable also with free plugins. However, I have 2 significant and really bothersome problems which I have been unable to overcome during my first month with Cakewalk; I believe they are both perhaps related to the MIDI sync, but could be wrong. The problems are listed below (system specs can be found at the end of this post): 1) previously recorded MIDI starts going off-tune when looping and recording audio to a new track. Detailed description: When I start a fresh new empty project from the startup screen, record few midi tracks with MPK49 (using the Cakewalk Latch from the MIDI bar, since the Latch in MPK49 works only randomly, see the next "problem" for more info) and then add an audio track, the MIDI starts soon go off-tune even I have the MIDI tracks unarmed for recording, using only the audio track. I can loop the project once, twice or three time at maximum before the tune from the MIDI instrument track goes noticeable wrong. It seems to get worse by every loop. I got only 4 tracks on the project when this happens: 2 MIDI tracks using Sitala plug-in (drum machine), another MIDI using the SynthMaster -plugin and the audio track where I used electric guitar with the build-in audio FX plugin. 2) The arpeggiator on the MPK49 works only when starting new empty project and stops working when restoring the project. I have connected the AKAI MPK49 to the computer (desktop, windows10) that has latest Cakewalk by Bandlab installed. When I start a new project and insert Sitala drum machine (a free plugin) as a MIDI track and set it up (to have external clock and tempo from the Cakewalk) from the Preferences (Clock & MIDI settings) everything works fine. Even the MPK49 arpeggiator works when I set the time division properly from the controller. It repeats the notes along with the tempo. But when I close the project, and return to it later, the MPK49's arpeggiator stops functioning, even if it plays notes otherwise. I have tried resetting the MIDI and audio, but it only results that the MPK49 stops working completely. So something happens on the shut down of Cakewalk project. I see that when this happens, Cakewalk shows no signal from the MPK49 when it's arpeggiator is turned on. This is exactly what happens also with new projects before setting the MIDI clock from the preferences. But once (each time upon a fresh empty project before closing the Cakewalk) set, the arpeggiator works. But when the project loads again, the arpeggiator is gone, while the settings are exactly the same. Thanks for any advice in advance considering above problems. Otherwise everything played well so far but this really drives me mad! System specs: Desktop PC Win10, 8 Gb RAM, Processor around 2,5 Ghz Lexicon Alpha External Sound Card, connected with external stereo system and also available connections to: 1 instrument line (which I use either Casio CT-770, semi-acoustic or electric guitar) 1 Microphone line AKAI MPK49 connected to the PC via USB.
  3. When I use the Arpeggiator with an existing Midi track, naturally it modifies the way the notes are played based on the Arpeggiator settings... but. I'm getting a few triplets. which is OK, but what I want to do is to send (record) the Arpeggiator modified Midi to a new track but I can't seem to record this to a new midi. I can send the modified output from the Arpeggiator to an audio track, and could modify that... but what I really want to do is create a midi track with the newly arpeggiated notes and variations so I can modify the midi. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? 1. Have existing midi track recorded at another time, messed around with the Arpeggiator, and it adds some notes and other changes to the output; I thought if I could record that as a midi output of some kind, I could then have a new track with the arpeggiated midi notes which I can add or remove notes from. 2. I created a new empty midi track and tried various input and output setting between the new track hoping the new track would record the midi; but it's not happening. 3. I first simply tried just setting the new midi track to record, and since the midi is using an instrument. I tried modifying the instrument track output but there's no setting for that to point it to the new midi track. I tried just using the existing midi track created when an instrument is added (see note below), and tried to record this, to get a midi track to the right of the instrument section... I've done this before; but I think I got lucky because I can't do it again... I'm struggling with learning how calkewalk midi sends can be routed to another track for recording. I seem to be missing some critical understanding. (IOW I presume a mid track can send midi out on some channel, and a new blank midi track could be set to record that midi out, to use it as midi in to record the modified midi track which is modified by the arpeggiator. I struggled at first to get audio tracks created from a midi track with associated instrument, but I'm started to get that part down.. So, far, I can only create an audio from midi with instrument for one midi/instrument at a time... (I'll learn as I go if it's possible to record, or if the computer can handle creating multiple audio tracks simultaneously; but I suspect this could really drag the system if it's even possible. So, the audio is being recorded from the master output, and this is great; but, what I can't figure is how to make a midi from a midi track. Copy and paste is great for duplications... but, I want to capture the arpeggiated notes as midi... is this possible... I figure I have to record it; but, how to set up the internal connections for inputs and outputs of the two tracks eludes me. Any help would be appreciated! Note: when I play my keyboard, or otherwise record a midi track... and want to use a different instrument for playback, I create an instrument track, and point the midi track input to all external, or none, and the midi track output to the instrument track. The instrument track input is "all external", and the output, in my case, is set to my Monitor so I can hear it. (No microphones or monitors are currently being used though I do have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Studio, Headphone but that is not currently hooked to this machine? 🙂
  4. Hello there! I've recently got interested in checking out arpeggiators, then I ended up with Squareheads's Nora 2. That sounds nice, I guess, yet I have no absolute idea about how I could route the plugin in order to make it work. Could someone give me some advice regarding this? I thank you in advance if you took the time to read this. :,)

  6. Does anyone know how to use the BlueArp plugin in Cakewalk. I have only seen tutorials on how to do it in FL Studio, not Cakewalk. I think its something to do with the buttons in the clips settings, where it has that master drop down button thing (because most FL Studio tutorials showed to change the input and outputs), but I'm not sure how to change the input of a VST so it can play through BlueArp.
  7. Sarp FREE Multilane Arpeggiator Showcase Version: Kontakt 5.8.1 / NCW / V1 https://www.kontakthub.com/product/sarp-free/ As said in the description below: Sometimes its easier to just do rather than say, and our unique and creative arpeggiator is one such time. We've used the engine inside SARP in a range of products, Folio Bass, Phenomena, and others. We wanted to give you an opportunity to try the sequencer for free so you can learn how to use it to its potential before you purchase any of the full products that use the same arp. So here it is stand-alone and for-free. SARP showcases our advanced 'Multi-key' sequencer. Unlike other sequencers, this enables you to run up to 8 different sequencers at the same time- based on how many and which notes are pressed on your keyboard. The first lane corresponds to the first key pressed, the second lane to the second key and so on. It's incredibly flexible and easy to use. There's only 8 voices to select from (2 Basses from Folio Bass, 2 voices from Phenomena, 2 from the up-coming KeyTone and 2 drum kits from the up-coming Folio Drums), so it's never going to be your go-to sound source, but for creative poly-rhythmic arpeggiations we think its unsurpassed. You can make Kontakt send midi notes out so you can even place your sound-source-of-choice right after SARP-Kontakt in your DAW to get arpeggiated sequences using other instruments. So it should be really really useful straight out of the box.
