  1. "While you can use the code in Pulse Downloader, this is not a requirement."

Well, in my case, it took roughly 2 days until Pulse accepted the NA code.

After "ordering" it (Jul 13, 23:26 UTC+07) I tried for around 24 hours & Pulse always says: Key xxx doesn't exist [BE]. Tried to google that & couldn't find anything. I finally gave up & thought that the only way to install was through NA. Nonetheless, before I got to do that, I noticed this thread (yes, I knew about it before the King LOL) & decided to give Pulse another try. Surprise! The code went through.

Frankly, I prefer that old way, because then the configuration is together with the application files. It is much easier to find than in this monolith configuration labyrinth!

Nowadays the configuration is scattered across the registry! 😆

I think I'd also prefer INI way. It's easier to change/reset those "undocumented features" of each program. Also, it's safer because one's INI wouldn't affect other softwares.

    about symlinks

This is a very old but neat trick that should be re-mention from time to time.

For those who really-really hate to type, there are some free Windows apps with GUI.

I do prefer to use this "manual" method rather than taking some more space in my storage.

Image doesn't load, is it working as intended?

In me, Firefox was spinning for quite some time, then settled down looking like this:

    1033540554_Screenshot2023-06-10at09-17-21MyHumbleStudioSetup!.png.af36dec26e9308ee7c263de446c57c8f.png

Based on others responses, I knew it shouldn't look like that. So I tried to right-click & open image in new tab. It then produced this:

So I figured this must be those geolocation thingies (or my ISP/country doing its fine work). So I used TOR and could see the image. VPN also worked.

Watching the Soc Media / Facebook reaction to this. People losing the run of themselves, already forming lists of whats the next best DAW to jump ship to.

I went to https://www.cakewalk.com/ & looked at the bottom of the page. There are 4 social-medias listed & I checked each one out. Only Facebook has recent (less than a month old) activities (comments), and out of the 33 comments there, only a few mentioned dissatisfaction.

    Where is this list?

  6. In their website it's already listed as free download(?)

Is it running the same offer as in sharewareonsale (just a concurrent sale offer, which will end in 7 days as per sharewareonsale)? Then it's better to download/install straight from the company.

Or is it "free download" as in a shareware/trial version (some company just like to do that, a bit shady IMO)?

This worries me about Audient interfaces, there seems to be quite a few weird things going on with them being reported in various places. I was thinking about getting the id4 mkii, but i am not sure now after looking around.

2 years ago I was looking for my first USB audio interface (instead of the motherboard-based on) for DAW use (no live recordings). My biggest concern was driver stability (under Windows), and boy it was quite depressing to read all the reviews & testimonies for almost every company/product out there. A few products stand out, but their prices were beyond my amateur budget.

Finally I chose Presonus Studio 24c, and I don't regret it for a bit. I can say that the driver is rock solid & *never* gave me any problem. The computer can go to sleep/hibernate, & the audio interface is always ready to use whenever the computer wakes up. I can alternate between it & the built-in interface with no problem. Not to mention that I can hook my old-school digital piano through its MIDI interface.

It also comes with a bunch of software including Studio One Artist. Maybe you can consider their products.

(Just words from a satisfied consumer).

I have win 10 home and read the instructions for this purchase and it says at the end  all my data will be deleted, is this how it will work? I read the deals forum far too often for that! ? Thanks for any advice.

You just need to change your product key with a pro key. Everything else will stay there.

Being a wind player I wonder what's the difference between staccato and staccatissimo?  I've never heard of that articulation in my private studies.  Maybe the teachers were holding that one away unless I went into doctorate studies.

Probably just the length (one is shorter)?

IMO those terms don't really necessary in live performances, because players will play the dot sign in context. But I imagine with samples (recorded earlier) there's need to have different set of samples.

    Update: I didn't google that.

  10. Just want to share my experiences here regarding buying/upgrading Dorico.

I have zero regrets of purchasing Dorico. But in regard to upgrading, especially from Elements to Pro, and even more if your home currency isn't EUR or USD, it could be more advantageous if you don't upgrade (particularly during this sale season).

Why? Because with roughly the same amount of money (more so if currency exchange is involved), you can get Pro from resellers (in particular: best service, which offers a very surprising sale price that I thought it could be a glitch/mistake) while still keeping your Elements.

Or, you can use the Avid promotion @cclarry posted a while back to get a year worth of Sibelius, and use that to crossgrade to Dorico Pro. This way, at least for a year, you have Sibelius, Dorico Elements, and Dorico Pro. After a year, you will still have 2 Dorico licenses.

Learned this after I upgraded my Elements 3.5 to Pro 4 at Steinberg's site (using EUR, which isn't my country's currency). Regretting doing this route very much. Hopefully others can have better deals than I, that would at least make me a little happier (for having a good feeling of doing something good to others).

For having Elements, yes, the cheapest way is to get SE first.

Peter, I think must have used your referral link before because it doesn't work here.  Is it possible to use someone else's or is it a one-time thing?  I suppose that leaves me with offering my own referral link which in turn would give me a $15 credit.  Or, if someone else wants to share their referral link, I'll try again.  I've got lots of 8Dio (long-time fan) but probably won't drop $50 for this.  $35 would be tempting for sure.

Hi @Fwrend, PM'ed you my referral.

I've just used @PavlovsCat link, so it's just nice to keep sharing 😀
