I think there is a code out there were this is always the price.   If you don't do a lot of advanced orchestra stuff something like this is great for quicker work flow, I will get this someday.

It's at this exact price pretty often--that's what I paid--but I wasn't aware that you could get it anytime.

It's funny, I happened to be playing with this a few hours on Sunday.

  2. This is one of my favorite libraries by far. Very helpful in working on orchestration if you are just getting into it.  It's a lot easier to play something like this across your keyboard than to keep referring to a chart to remember what the standard range is for specific instruments.   You just play on your keyboard and you hear how a string or brass or woodwind ensemble sounds.

And the solo instruments and ensembles sound good enough to be in my template, and compare surprisingly well with some of my other libraries.  Good sounds with lots of articulations.

There are also some amazing multis that are very inspirational.  Plus percussion and a choir.

    Well worth checking out

  3. FYI, Frostpoint isn't an instrument, but a collection of impulse responses.

I highly recommend Terracotta.  Well worth $15.

Dual Music Box ($5) sounds like it is just two music boxes, but it actually is a really beautiful sound design tool, with a lot of unusual pulsing, pad, reversed, effects, etc.

I am very partial to FrozenPlain.  I have everything but Phoenix and Frostpoint now.  And I think I will pick up Phoenix at this price.

Aside from the special sales that come out now and then, FrozenPlain usually only discounts to 30% off during their sales.

Anybody else having issues with Aerkord and/or Abstrung .. Load times particularly?

Yes, this is something most people experience with the Randomizers.   I moved all my Audiofier libraries over to my SSD and batch resaved and they all load much more quickly.

Another thing is that you have to follow the instructions in the manual to get the snapshots to load.

  5. I would buy the M32 in a second if it had the light guides.   I have a second mini-keyboard for key switching, but having one with lights would be the ultimate.

But I might get it anyway.   😄

  6. The people at UJAM must be going, "Damn, we just got our Virtual Bassist series on the market and you tell us this?"  Ouch.

Toontrack is going to do great with this.  Knowing all the expansions that will be done for this makes it a very appealing product.  Not to mention the synergy with EZKeys and EZDrummer.

  7. I got an older version of Nectar Elements for free in some promo I don't even remember.  I really like it.  Great interface, lots of presets.  So I feel like iZotope has already given me the Elements Suite.

But I guess the newest Nectar Elements will be the next one to turn up for $1 on Plugin Boutique.

Repair Assistant is in the RX Audio Editor.   In RX7 Standard (the version I have), RX Audio Editor is a free standing program found in the WIN10 Start menu.  I don't see the Repair Assistant listed as a VST.  So look in the Start menu under Izotope and see what is listed there.

    Thank you!   I found it!

  9. I love it.     It's one of the three libraries in their Randomizer series.   Aerkord combines bowed , ethnic winds, and vocals.  Abstrung is strings.  Vesper is "bells and twinkly things."    I bought Aerkord and Vesper after  I got a deal on Abstrung in a sale like this one, and really liked it.

This is a steal at the price.   It's a very powerful instrument that sounds beautiful, and can also come up with some really unusual sounds through its engine.    The Audiofier "Randomizer" series is not about presets so much as hitting the randomizer button a lot and getting some unexpected results, which you can save.

You shouldn't think of it as a Rompler with a lot of deep instruments.  It's all about the way you mutate and warp the sounds with effects, reversed sounds,  arps and sequencers, etc.  But if you want to keep it simple and just combine two sounds -- a Vocal Ah and a Duduk, say, it can do that too.  That's what I mostly do.

If you want to get the most out of it you need to watch the Audiofier videos on YouTube.  All the Randomizers essentially work the same.

The one caution I would make is that it is 22 GB and for some reason it takes a while to load on a regular hard drive.  I have it on an SSD and it's not instant, but it's decent.  Once it's loaded you're good to go.

Audiofier is an amazing company.  I'm very curious about their new Riffendium.

Been watching this. Waiting to see what prices are.
I'm not seeing anywhere that they'll continue supporting Kontakt or for that matter dropping it, just that they're introducing a new sample player.
Maybe I missed that or they mentioned it this morning in the presentation.

They  said they will continue to support Kontakt.  But I wonder if that will just be for the old libraries.   I wonder if their new Layers library will be released for Kontakt.   I bet it will be like LABS instruments for Spitfire.

  11. Just found this summary on VI: Control:

Orchestral Tools has created a free Orchestral Tools Sample Player, in conjunction with Axel Hartmann. Features include Auto Volume Scaling to enable legato transition and release samples to blend better, High Res Resampler, Mic Position Merging, Core Implemented Legato, and Advanced Articulation Management. Libraries will continue to be available in Kontakt format as well.

The new sample player will debut with the release of a free instrument called "Layers: Studio Ensembles," using small ensembles structured in layers of different kinds, such as mixed timbres and chords.

Customers will also have a wider choice in pricing structure with the availability of bundle pricing and à la carte pricing for individual mic positions, instruments, and articulations.

In addition, Orchestral Tools announced Junkie XL Brass to be developed with composer Tom Holkenborg, who promises a larger than life sound.

The company also announced LA Sessions: Songwriter Instruments, a collection of pop instruments recorded at United Recording, in Studio B. The instruments include Studio Strings, Electric Guitar, Gospel Choir, Acoustic Guitar, Drum Set, Rhodes, Wurlitzer, and Electric Bass.

  12. New sample player for their libraries, with lots of new features not found in Kontakt.  But the libraries will still work in Kontakt.
    Video is HERE

A new store that lets you buy single instruments!  Discounts for bundles!   Video is HERE .

Junkie XL introduced his new brass library.   http://www.orchestraltools.com/jxlbrass

New Songwriter library,  LA Sessions: Songwriter Instruments.   Guitars, bass, drums,  etc -  First OT non-orchestral library.  Coming out later this year.  Video is HERE

LAYERS.  The first library for the new sample player, coming later this year.   A small orchestra arranged in layers.  Stacked notes. Chords. Strings that can morph into Woodwinds through the modwheel.  etc. etc.  And it will be FREE.    Here's a video trailer

Hmm, no discount for owners of Legacy Collection?

I doubt it.  It didn't happen for the Mac version of Gadget.  I don't think Korg ever even offered a package deal for both.

They are really different things .  Most (all? ) of the Gadgets are not identical to the ones in the Legacy Collection.  You can program and make 8 part multis on the M1, but on its gadget, Darwin, you can only make single patches with small adjustments like res, cutoff, amplitude, etc.  ArpOdyssey has an extra page of features than its Gadget, Lexington.

I want this, but I realize that a lot of what makes Gadget the app and most of the Gadgets work is because of the touch interface and the fact that you can use so many of them at once.  Simplicity is good there.   But as extra VSTs for your DAW, it's not important.  None of the Gadgets are as good as your standard VST, including the Legacy synths.  On the other hand they have NKS.  I believe its possible that NI will one day come out with some kind of touch interface for their keyboards.  Maybe an XY pad?  The first edition went in that direction with th controller wheels.

  14. I spent a lot of time yesterday demoing all the GA expansions has free 30 day demos for.

The standout for me is  Simon Stockhausen's COLLIDING WORLDS, which is only $20 during this sale.  The 30 drum sets include typical world drums (Darbukas, Djembes, Angklungs, Temple Blocks, Singing Bowls, etc), but also drumsets composed of Chimes, Crotales, Container Drums, Barrel Drums, Doors.  1700 exotic samples.   Using the construction kits in the MIDI programs is great, but it really took off for me when I started dragging in my own MIDI--all these unexpected results.
If this intrigues you at all, you can download a free demo HERE

Also, the Simon Phillips Studio Drum Set is a beast.  6GB.  27 kit pieces.  Up to 16 velocity levels and 5 round robins.  Extensive mixing options.   It's the only drum set I've ever seen that has a "drum solo" patch.

    Just look at it:

7 Tom Toms, plus that monster Gong Drum on the right
    6 cymbals
3 snares (6 alternates)  and two bass drums active at one time
    4 Octobans

All this, plus tons of MIDI patterns for $40.

You can also get a free download of this HERE

  15. You can get Gadget 2 at the Korg Shop  HERE

    Four versions for desktop:
Gadget for Mac  $199 intro price, regular price will be $199 after March 31st.
    Gadget Plugins Only Mac/PC   $149 ($199)
    Gadget Upgrade for Mac  $99.99
    Gadget LE for Mac  Free

Some serious disappointments for PC people.  Not all of the gadgets are available at launch and none of them have NKS yet.   Mac Gadget has had NKS for awhile.
These will be added in future upgrades.  🙄
You really have to dig through their site to find this information, but it's HERE if you scroll down to the bottom of the page.

    4 new gadgets:

    • Memphis Semi-Modular Analogue Synthesizer (like MS-20/10)
    • Pompei  6 Voice Analog Synth (like Polysix )
    • Taipei (MIDI-Out Control Module)
    • Durban (Bass Effect Processor)

Plus two more new gadgets coming soon

These join Gadget versions of Korg classics like the M1, Wavestation, Arp Odyssey, Mono/Poly, etc.

iOS users will see a number of changes to the user interface and new features like tempo change, fade in/fade out, and  four new fx.  The long requested ability to rename tracks is finally here.   And of course the ability to control iOS and hardware synths with the MIDI out is a big deal.

    More info on Gadget HERE

NOTE: the first comments below are from when I put this up pre-release a few weeks ago.
