  2. Wow! This guy just posted on VI: Control. He claims to have reviewed every solo instrument in World Suite.
  3. I believe that World Traditions was just ported over from MOTU. Some sample material was used from that in World Suite, but the interface was completely redone and a lot of new stuff was added, like the Precision Sound instruments. I've never had that experience with it, or heard anybody else make complaints about World Suite. But I have never heard anybody say anything positive about World Traditions. Even Ra and Garritan World have some admirers. Maybe UVI shouldn't have put out World Traditions. Still, you are missing out on some pretty wonderful stuff with UVI. Like Falcon, for starters. 🙂
  4. I love Sonuscore and their 5-part engines. The Orchestra works so well with Elysion, Mallet Flux, not to mention the Origins series. Can't wait for the next expansions. Expecting woodwinds and brass, but who knows how they will do it. Maybe incorporating a world instrument as with the strings. Great company.
  5. Great deal. It's never been this cheap. I think 30% has been the biggest discount and this is 50%. It's one of my favorite libraries, although I do prefer EthnoWorld. But sometimes I prefer an instrument I like better in one and another instrument in the other. It has been a great place for me to explore world music. When I enjoy playing an instrument on World Suite, I often buy a dedicated instrument. It's easier to search instruments through World Suite than EW because they sort them in two ways, through type of instrument and the place in the world they come from. If you know Precision Sound, UVI licensed a lot of samples from them for this. They then translated them into the World Suite interface, so they're not exactly the same. I personally think the WS interface is great, and usually an improvement. One thing that is fun about this library is something they call the Travelers, which is a fun way to use the loops that come with WS.
  6. I love MetaPlugin but I wish it wasn't so brain-numbingly ugly. Why do they have that type in the middle? Yuck. I would switch to Blue Cat's Patchwork in a second if it wasn't so much more expensive.
  7. Legacy is a different product than Albion ONE. It didn't start out as ONE, it was just Albion. When Spitfire ported some of these Legacy samples to their new player they gave a copy to the owners. This has been their consistent policy with all libraries they port to the new player. I don't think it's a big deal. These things are priced pretty cheaply and the LABS stuff has an even better price. I'm okay with it. But as people on VI:Control are not happy with the Spitfire player, I'm not as quick on the trigger to buy these $29 thingies until I hear more about them. I wonder if they will be available for 40% off during the Wishlist? Probably not. Too soon, and I'm sure they think they are a good deal already. Orchestral Tools shows how it's done. They've been explaining their player since the beginning of this year. And all these videos before they even made it available. Not to mention they seem to have done a great job with it. Looking forward to their free library so I can check it out. My feeling is.... I don't like Engine and I don't like Play, but I'll buy libraries with any player if I like the music enough. On the other hand, I love Falcon and am really liking the Synchron Player. HALion would be great if there were better libraries for it. If people like OT's Sine, there may be a whole new post-kontakt world coming. Lots of other players...
  8. Oh... I'm not talking about the ad campaign. 😀 I just know I'll really use this.
  9. I haven't downloaded it yet, but I have a premonition that this will on day become ONE OF THREE REVERBS I'LL ACTUALLY USE!
  10. I spent some time in the Sonible booth at IMSTA New York and watched them demonstrate it on a lot of different kinds of sounds. As I have the Sonible EQs, I knew how the interface would work, but I was curious to find out what it had to offer as a compressor that my other ones don't offer. The point they made was that all my compressors that model analog devices color the sound. And that's great, because they do it in a way that is very pleasing. We talked about iZotope, which doesn't have modeled effects, but in their opinion does color the sound a lot--and that has been my experience. It makes sonic choices for you that give you a certain kind of result. I would call it contemporary. But their sales pitch on the Smart:Comp was that it added very little coloration. Kind of like getting flat speakers. Maybe other compressors are designed to achieve that result, but as my ears aren't so great, I like the head start that Sonible gives me with their EQs. I don't consider myself an expert on FX, but I'm just passing on what they told me.
  11. I can understand how some people may feel they don't need this, but I use Vegas Pro and a lot of plugins from companies like NewBlue and Boris. I love the free plugins I got with the free Ignite Express, and I'm very familiar with what comes extra with Ignite Pro. This is an amazing gift. I never thought I would have this stuff unless it came in a Vegas upgrade. I don't think I will use Hitfilm Pro. That's like getting another DAW. I've got a lot of time invested in my Vegas Pro workflow. I haven't downloaded Action Pro yet, but I look forward to exploring it. I've checked out a lot of the stock footage from Action VFX, and it's pretty good. Some are more hi-def than others. I won't be using the gun stuff, but there are some things I may find some use for, like the smoke and fog, which could be nice with animated titles. None of these are full packages, they are just tasters for much larger packages. If you look on the ActionVFX site, there are tutorials on how to use them, as well as a lot of freebies. This kind of stuff does not come cheap.
  12. The main reason I resist the good deal on the full Soundtoys bundle every year is that it is too much for me to wrap my head around getting ALL those very unusual plugins in one go. If I bought it, I feel like I would download them all and never find the time to learn how to use them. I have a few Soundtoys, and the upgrade cost is very reasonable, but I always pass. Soundtoys only lets you demo ALL their plugins, not one. It takes me a very long time to properly demo a single plugin and decide if I need it. The idea of demoing all those plugins doesn't work for me at all. But taking these "Little" soundtoys, that they gave away free long ago, and selling them for $9, really works for me in a way that the big demo does not. Before I shell out my $9, I watch videos and study. I know what I'm buying and I can slowly test them out. And each purchase cuts a few more bucks off of the bundle, and may persuade me to buy the full bundle next BF. I think this is a shrewd move on their part. I imagine I'll have a few more "littles" before too long. 🙂
  13. Ignite Pro is even a bigger deal for me. 185 plugins I can use in Vegas Pro (or most any editing software). 560 effects and presets. For me this is the best offer from Humble Bundle ever. And in case I need to do a lot of explosions in my home movies, I'm all set. The bundle of Hitfilm and Ignite is $583. I have sometimes seen Hitfilm thrown in with an update to Vegas.
  14. I liked this plugin so much when I got it from Computer Music that it led to me buying T-RackS. I even got Jam Points for registering it!
  15. Last year was the first one I missed so I set Alexa to tip me off at 10:55 every day until this sale is over. I bought it immediately after I saw it pop up on my screen. Plus this is the fourth year in a row when the freebie was on the second day. Next year will no doubt be worse, so we should remind each other here the day before. Sonokinetic gives out great gifts and apparently the word gets out more every year.
  16. That's one of the fastest runs on a Sonokinetic freebie I've ever seen. I had a feeling it would be today and went straight there when it started. .
  17. The only reason I can see to get Da Capo is to have something that's playable that will match the hall of whatever Sonokinetic Phrase libraries you own. If you care about such things, which I don't. 🙂 For me, what it does is done much better by Kirk Hunter Virtuoso Ensembles, which often sells for not much more. By the way, Sonokinetic gave away a free instrument on the first Tuesday in 2016, 2017, and 2018. I wonder if today will be the freebie day? And I wonder if it will be a new instrument? In 2016, they had two freebies. The EMP Mark II was given away on the 11th day.
  18. I'm on Windows, so I've looked for that. I imagine there are ones for Macs too. Both of these have 4 SATA ports and will work on a PCIe 1 lane interface, That is good news for me, because I have two free one lane ones, but only one 4 lane PCIe left. This one is $26, but you have to jump through a lot of hoops to use it, like a Windows install. This one is $33, but doesn't mention any requirements like that. Both of these ship from China. I remember seeing one before that had a lot more SATA ports, but these will be more than enough for me. Although I will keep shopping to see if I can get more ports, if I think I will need it. I'm pretty set for a long time now with the ADATA.
  19. Yes, I didn't read it carefully. 😀 I got caught up in the idea of it being "free," but it's only free in the same sense that the IK Amplitude Custom Shop is free. You can demo anything, but you have to buy if you want it.
  20. Here's the response I got from customer service: Thank you for your email. In case you haven't bought any content on our website, most of ReValver will be indeed in demo mode, just so you can try and see whether you would like to purchase some modules in the future. However, we do offer a bunch of free modules, more precisely " two Amplifiers, a “lite” version of RIR 2, three pedals/effects and some ACT content", as the user guide states. The 2 amplifiers are the Valveking and the Custom Lite. Furthermore, you can check a bank of presets called Free Bank, that contains presets created using only the free modules. That will certainly give you an idea of what you receive for free and what you can achieve with it. Should you have any further questions or issues to report, feel free to contact us. 21. That's probably the problem then. I had it hooked up to the USB, but then maybe it doesn't recognize the USB any more. If I had understood this better, I would have used my audio interface. Now I'm wasting a USB spot for no reason. And it doesn't even work yet.
  22. One thing that is possible is that--now that they are giving away the base application for free--they are more concerned with making money on the expansions. That may explain this USB thing. But obviously it won't affect people who already own Revalver. I've written them and hopefully I will find out what I need to do. They made a HUGE deal about me not losing the USB. But I can't see anything written on it. The license file referred to above was written to my computer.
  23. Here is the authorization that I see every time. But it doesn't work. Note the mention of the USB hardware device at the bottom. It would not proceed without me putting in a new USB.
  24. Well, I didn't imagine the bit about the USB drive. Maybe this is something new. Let's see if anybody who is new to Revalver discovers it. Anyway, I've tried six times to authorize the demo. Every time it tells me that the licenses have been downloaded and everything is fine. But it doesn't work. I restart Revalver and restart Cubase. I restarted my computer twice. No luck.
  25. You also have to put in a USB drive, which must then must stay on your computer forever. It wouldn't accept my VSL/Steinberg licensor.
