  1. I'm trying to avoid impulse buys, but getting Augmented Voices and piano for $29 seems too good a deal to pass up. $14.50 each! Less the price of many preset patch sets. What I like about Arturia is that you can download full-featured demos. So I've been messing with these two for months. I know I like them. While I admire the modeled vintage synths that Arturia creates, I use the new ones like Pigments more. And these are in that vein. While this is a nice deal, it makes me worry that I'll get the brass too. 😨 But I'm assuming that Arturia will Augment the hell out of some Woodwinds at some point, so I hope I can wait for a deal on those two.
  2. I'm definitely a ujam fan. I particularly like the Beatmakers, Drums, and the Pianos. I like the Mellow Bass and have had a lot of fun with the guitars. The guitars and basses work well with the NI Session Guitarist Series
  3. ujam wanted to bring GLAM out today (4/26), but postponed the release due to finding late-breaking bugs. They are working on it and should have a new timeline soon. If I find out, I'll post it here.
  4. Welcome to the full Kontakt club,, where you can get hundreds of great free instruments. So you can start looking at articles and videos like these: https://blog.native-instruments.com/best-free-kontakt-instruments/ https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2020/04/27/free-kontakt-libraries/ https://producerhive.com/buyer-guides/sample-packs/best-free-sample-libraries-for-kontakt/ Check out "Primary Colors" and "Snap, Claps, Slaps, Stomps and Shouts" at Red Room Audio https://redroomaudio.com/product-category/free/ In fact, the majority of developers offer free instruments. If you add in all the free instruments that come with other Players like LABS and SINE, you can go a long way without spending any more money. BF and holiday time will be special for you from now on because so many freebies that require full Kontakt are given away. Enjoy!
  5. For me it would be at the point where you are using this enough so that getting the best quality from the voices matters to you. People use this for different things, and not all of them require that. If you’re happy, you’re happy.
  6. If you have any issues with Lunacy Audio, just write them. They got back to me in a day and solved my problem. I think CUBE is one of the most innovative synths to be released in recent years. The user interface is easy to understand and fun to use. Because the design sets up constant modulation, you can get great sounds too. It's my favorite new synth after Pigments. My only problem with it is that the paths screen makes me a little dizzy, so I don't usually have that up. I like the company policy of regularly releasing free preset packs. Like Audiomodern. You get exactly the same thing in a $39 Output expansion for free. You just have to pay for expansions when they bring in new samples. As they add content, CUBE gets better and better. You can also add your own samples. Probably Black Friday is the best time, though. I bet I could have gotten PASTELS for less than $22 if I waited. But I don't mind.
  7. 30% Discount SynthV Studio Pro https://store.dreamtonics.com/ Code: SV2A8RCF 30% Discount for Eclipse Sound Voices (Solaria / Asterian): https://www.eclipsedsounds.com/ Code: ESBNAMM2023 In the video, Taylor from Eclipsed says there is an additional 10% discount if you buy both voices. There's also a demo of the new Eclipsed Sounds tenor voice, Saros, coming out later this year.
  8. I've listened to the presets a lot and I think it's one of the best products of this nature around. Also, there's a ton of ways to customize it. Another top-notch product by Sonuscore. The old Tiger would have snapped this up immediately, but I have to watch my penniesa lot more these days. But maybe during BF if it goes 40% off?
  9. I don't know if anybody mentioned that if you buy this, you can get any other Session Guitarist or Session Bassist (except Electric Sunburst Deluxe), for 50% off. So here's what I'm thinking... Maybe I'll buy ICON BASS and PRIME BASS now for $100. After I upgrade to KUCE 14, I can sell Prime Bass for $50, which effectively means I get ICON BASS for $50, instead of the $75 I was planning to pay in June. And then, in June 2025, when I have KUCE 15, I'll sell ICON BASS for $50. So I get ICON BASS for two years for free. Ain't it amazing how I can justify my GAS? I bet we'll be able to jam live with these basses by combining some of these patterns with a set of SESSION GUITARIST patterns. I can't wait until they offer an acoustic bass. Maybe it will also be part of Komplete 15.
  10. My advice would be to get Ethnoworld. During Black Friday you can get the instruments only part for around $145. But I am also a big fan of world Suite and eastWest’s SILK. I don’t have RA.
  11. I want this! I'll probably use the $25 NI voucher this summer to bring it down to $75. And when the next Komplete comes, I will sell for $50. It's worth $25 for me to have this until then. I love the Session Guitarist series.
  12. IMHO Scaler is better for composing. EZKeys is better for generating piano performances. I would say that Scaler has more features as a music theory tool. It is more about helping you find ways to create interesting chord progressions, than EZKeys has been. But this new version of EZKeys is better in this respect, and has features that Scaler doesn't have. Scaler also has many more instruments than EZKeys does and has a guitar UI as well as a piano one. EZKeys has developed an immense MIDI library over the years. So there's a huge supermarket for you to go to if you're looking to create a certain genre of music. On the other hand, Scaler is always adding things in free updates, which is very nice, but I find their naming system to be bewildering and can only use stuff by trying it out As Scaler does many instruments, it offers MIDI patterns for basses, guitars, etc. Scaler is relatively cheap for the features it offers, but EZKeys becomes a lot better the more MIDI files you own. So it can get expensive if you keep buying them. EZKeys works well with all the other Toontrack instruments. This new Scaler update makes it more like EZBass. (I don't use EZDrummer any more) I'm a piano and guitar player. I have been working out chord progressions for over 50 years. By learning to play other people's songs, I've learned how different kinds of chords work together. I've learned chords unfamiliar to me from playing songs by Steely Dan and jazz songs. I know some music theory. That's what I draw from when I sit down to write. A tool like Scaler takes me to a higher level. There are things I can easily do with Scaler that I could never do with my level of musical knowledge. I don't think EZKeys is that kind of tool. It's better for taking your song and having it play it. Not too long ago, once I wrote a song, I just went to the piano or guitar and played it. But that was then. Now I have arthritis which is increasingly getting worse. I'm just not as good as I once was, and it can get painful to play too long. I have stopped recording me playing guitar live--I just use guitar VIs. I'm still not at that place with the keyboard, but maybe I'll get there someday. I already use Band-in-a-Box a lot. And that is something that gives you full arrangements and not just pianos. I'm seriously thinking about this. It comes with a lot of features and a lot of MIDI. If you look at what it costs to buy MIDI expansions, and at the many powerful new features, an upgrade seems a good deal to me. For a new buyer, there will no doubt be special offers on EZKeys 2, but but it may be a while before that happens.
  13. IMHO this is one of the best Falcon expansions that UVI has offered so far, because it has Euclidean arps built in. The multitude of arps are one of the greatest features in Falcon. It sets it apart from practically everything. But you have to take a few minutes to learn how to use them and I don't know how many people actually make their own patches in Falcon. So for people like that, having Euclidean built into this expansion opens up an infinite world of polyrhythms. But of course if you know how to use Falcon, you can do this--and a lot more--with any sound in Falcon, as it comes with many arp engines. And as a loyal member of this forum, I'll never buy a Falcon expansion retail. 😀
  14. Any Mixcraft users? I like to have a simple DAW now and then. There are also a few instruments that seem to come bundled with it, including "Journeys," which I believe is the String Studio AAS expansion as it comes next to their Lounge Lizard Electric Piano, which isn't listed as Lounge Lizard Session, so if it's EP-4, that's a $199 list instrument, commonly sold for $99. I'm not really familiar with the other stuff instruments You have to really look on YouTube if you want info on their instruments.
  15. It seems to me that they have ported a lot of the tech from EZBass into EZKeys--which is terrific. As I'm a decent a piano player, I don't use EZKeys much. The investment in all those MIDI paks doesn't make sense for me. But this new version, and the way it integrates with EZBass, interests me a lot. I'll probably jump for the upgrade.
  16. For what it's worth, I always use it in standalone.
  17. I realize that the link to this video is above, but this instrument is of such historic importance I didn't want anybody to miss a single second before hearing its groundbeaking awesomeness.
  18. Just a little reminder about Cinesamples pricing and sales. Not too long ago they significantly raised all the prices in their store. $99 to $149, for example. They did it right before Black Friday and without any warning. For example, back in 2016, Tina Guo Legato was $99 and there was a 40% off sale at Black Friday and I bought it for $59. Now it is $149, so during a 40% off sale it is $89 and during a 50% off sale it's $74.50. Both are not much of a discount from the old list price. This was probably a glitch, but then they probably saw they were moving a bit of product at a price they were willing to accept. Letting the glitch go for awhile lets them have the best of both worlds--making some money but not devaluing the list price by officially selling anything for less. I remember well that there was a "glitch" at 8dio and they sold a vocal library for some insane price like $18. A total mistake, so I jumped on it, and felt very guilty for taking advantage of their mistake. But over time, practically everything they sell has hit a similar ridiculous low level at one point or another. It's become the standard way they price. All of us on this forum know that when we buy anything it may turn up for a crazy amount less during a sale. I'm usually okay with it, but sometimes I admit I feel "What? Ten percent of what I paid?" 50% or 60% off is cool but 10% makes me feel like a sucker. Over the years, I've started to feel that getting a good deal is only partially about the lowest price. Am I buying something on sale that I believe will always go on sale at about that price? Will this product appreciate in musical usefulness to me through free updates? (ie Falcon, Omnisphere, Pigments) So many companies just sell their old shit that they've completely recouped on eons ago, and never provide any improvements--at best they fix bugs or make them roll with the Apple punches. I've often gotten an amazing "deal" on something I've never used in a finished piece. In fact it just sits there idly on one of my expensive hard drives. On the other hand, I have paid full price for a lot of Indiginus libraries and used them over and over. To me, that's bang for my buck. I paid the list price, but it was lower than the sales price of stuff that wasn't as musically useful for the kind of stuff I compose. . For example, I've used the libraries from the NI Session Guitarist on more pieces on anything I own except for Omnisphere. So as long as NI adds more of them when they come out with a new Komplete, I know I want to upgrade in the summer sale. I feel confident that the new Komplete is going to have a lot of value for me, and the other stuff in Komplete is just like getting a bunch of cool instruments for free. I never would have bought Butch Vig, but I have used it often. Another VI I have used a lot is Tina Guo Legato, which I consider a classic. Cinesamples is indeed a great company.
  19. I respect that Waves gets to decide how they do business and for a long time they have used WUP and a number of other policies, like very high list prices which make resales difficult. I respect that they have the right to do these things, I just choose to respond as a customer by rarely buying their products. But they have had a system in place over the years and they've stuck to it. Which is a commitment they've made to their loyal customers. Most are okay with it. But IMHO this move is like Elon Musk firing people suddenly and without warning and then realizing he needs them so he tries to hire them back. Even though they then have their jobs back, it's not like nothing happened. Waves has shown their cards about what kind of company they are and I believe they have diminished their brand forever.
  20. That's the issue. It's hard to get trust back.
  21. It's a great deal. I've purchased some in the $15 range and have been happy to get them. But do note that they have made their description of the Misfit Collection a bit vague: The Misfit Collection contains 18 deep-sampled, soulful instruments for the unique composer within. A Misfit is a person whose behavior or attitude sets them apart from others in an uncomfortably conspicuous way. Other synonyms include: “nonconformist, eccentric, maverick, and individualist.” If you can relate to any of these terms, this collection is what you’ve been waiting for! Translation: All the people who played the instruments had NEVER played them before. In fairness, the trailer is still there.
  22. I think if you want to get the 50% off deal upgrading from the Free Orchestra, you have to do it on the ProjectSam site. https://projectsam.com/libraries Per the people on VI:Control, put in Orchestra Essentials 1 and 2 in your cart, and it will be $149. You have to be logged in.
