  1. Yes it would wouldn't it. Just like the opposite of the MOBO Awards would be racist. Funny old world.
  2. I remember hearing a song on the radio a year or two ago and thinking it was a cut above the rest of the dross, and was shocked when they back-announced it as Rick Astley. IIRC it was a kind of blues/gospel thing. Good voice that lad
  3. It doesn't really happen to me, no. I try not to work on a piece for too long at a stretch, then I enjoy getting back to it the next day. I particularly love listening to it when the drums are done, which always pulls the whole thing together. What happens later on is that I'll listen to a piece from a few months ago and have little or no recollection of coming up with the parts, which is slightly worrying! 🤣
  4. Good old Rick. He was produced by Stuck Out In The Water, Man, wasn't he?
  5. Hi Bob, well I can't hear too much wrong with this, I think you're in the ball-park already. HUGE guitar sound! I can't hear much bass, but maybe it's unison with the guitars. I can hear the kick drum no problem. Great stuff, well up to your usual standard.
  6. What a lovely song Steve. Really like your production choices too, the ethereal backing vocals and the cool synth lines, just right.
  7. The point is, The Bapu can play Am, with one note...
  8. There was method in his madness, it was all about the ambient noise around each 'performance'. Different every time.
  9. Pros - love the jaunty whistling sections and the chorus. Mandolin is cool, who's playing that? Cons - the double time pre-chorus seems odd before the first chorus, and doesn't really work in the other choruses (to my ears anyway)
  10. Same error here, it was still up yesterday though. My understanding was that it was there for good, as read-only.
  11. Thanks very much Steve!
  12. Vocals are OK, which I know is 'damned with faint praise'. You're a bit shaky here and there but mostly it's on pitch. What occurred to me is that you might be concentrating too hard on hitting the notes, and forgetting to get some feel or passion in there; it's all a bit one-level. Maybe relax a bit and just go for it. (this coming from someone who can't sing at all, so large pinch of salt required..)
  13. Great list Bob, the Rush doc is excellent, as is the Tom Petty one. Tried to find a link to Tom Waits - Songs From a Cracked Jukebox, but no luck, it's really good.
  14. That's a shame, seemed like a very nice guy
  15. ...quick, insert smiley before someone gets offended... 😉
