  1. Fabulous, as always. Wonderful voice and great harmonies! I hate you! 😀
  2. This is cool. It's got that something that just says "sit and listen to me"! Great sounding drums, and I like the banjo at the end - did you play that too? Sounds like a proper banjo to me (not a keyboard).
  3. My goodness! There are some talented guys on this board! Fantastic! To my ears everything seemed spot on (not that I have much experience). Bit of the old Guthrie Govan in there? 🙂
  4. Wow! Lots of work gone into that I'm sure. Excellent. I wouldn't know where to begin writing and recording something like that, but I wish I could. OutYessing Yes!!!
  5. I like it, very nice. Vocal has its own, different, sound. Don't think spelling is wrong - depends on where you come from!

    Quality! What a voice!
  7. It's like evil early Genesis, in a good way!! 😈
  8. Can't keep my head from bobbing around listening to this! Great stuff. And yes, I get a bit of Steely Dan too. Excellent.
  9. If Vangelis played guitar................ 😀😀
  10. Ah, yes, that would be more accurate rather than stetching and trying to work out where to stretch to. Thanks 🙂
  11. Hmm, I think I've found something - by using smart tool, ctrl + shift, you can just drag the midi clip to twice the size and that does it. Isn't modern technology great!
  12. Hi All! Bit of a query for you all. I'm a bit of a Cakewalk newbie. I've started a song at 140 bpm, so everything I have done is based on that tempo, including audio and some manual MIDI drums for basic bass and rim shot. However, now I've tried adding some standard MIDI drum loops, they are really twice as fast as I want. I suppose my song tempo should really have been 70 not 140bpm! Is there any way of effectively halving the tempo of the MIDI drum loops, but not the rest of the song? Cheers.
  13. Nice, I like. Lovely voice, lovely song. Reminds me at times of one of my favourites - Aimee Mann.
  14. Really, really like this. It just washes all over you and is so very soothing! Great voice. Wish I could write and sing like this.
  15. Thanks for all the comments guys, I think I have plenty to learn! With this being my first song, I seemed to want to get through it pretty quick, so there were very few takes on the guitar and mandolin. I think in future I need to take more time, and make sure the final instrument/vocal recording is what I'm really happy with, rather than thinking "it will do". On EQ'ing I just messed with it until it just sounded about right, I have no method really, so I need to learn how to have a more methodical approach I think. How to do that, I'm not sure at the moment - I need to read up and watch more tutorials maybe. I have quite a few questions, but not sure if this is the right place to ask - I think probably best to ask in the main forum. Once again, thanks for the comments, it will really help in future recordings. @SupaReels Steve, if you read this, I've not spent much money on my set up, I looked at Stereo Imager ST2s, it's probably more than I would want to pay. However, I've downloaded and tried Isotope Ozone Imager V2, which I think seems to do a very similar thing (seems pretty good for free!)? Would this be a reasonable replacement for the Nomad vst?
  16. How can you have guitar acquisition syndrome for a vst? 😄
  17. Hi Steve (and everyone else! ) , thanks for the comments. Constructive criticism is what I need! With regard to the vocals, I did originally have them louder but thought they needed pulling back a bit, looks like I was wrong! Steve, when you say the mix is off, which parts in particular do you mean? Gain of parts within the song, EQing, panning? Would be useful to know for future tracks. Thanks!
  18. Yes, I've seen some of his videos - he's very good. I'll have to play with it a bit more. Thanks!
  19. Thanks for your feedback guys. Yes Kurt, I did mess with audio transients, but I did find that sometimes I'd move the marker, but the actual piece of audio wouldn't move. Maybe I was doing something wrong? Does that happen sometimes?
  20. Hi all Just started using Cakewalk - a lot to learn, but amazing program for free! This is my first attempt at recording, so any suggestions would be welcome. Timing is a bit off in places, and I found it quite difficult to get the overall sound/equalisation right. I found it sounds quite different on headphones when compared to listening on my reasonable hifi set up, after which I reduced the overall bass a bit. Not sure how to embed the soundcloud song so it plays dierectly? https://soundcloud.com/user-614229134/just-a-boy
