  1. Hope you're celebrating, Dave! Will there be cake?
  2. When installing the last two updates, I've gotten an error message near the end of the process saying there's "insufficient disk space" to complete the operation. I have over 700 GB free, so that's not the problem. It appears to be caused by a conflict with Windows 10 controlled folder access: App or process blocked: Cakewalk_by_BandLab_Update_Setup_27.06.0.058.tmp Protected folder: %userprofile%\Documents\Cakewalk\Cakewalk by BandLab\ Normally a controlled folder access problem can be fixed by granting access to the process, but in this case the name changes with every new update. As far as I can tell, Cakewalk is working fine in spite of this error. I've had controlled folder access turned on for months, but this problem with the Cakewalk installer just started with the last two updates. What is the installer trying to write to that directory?
  3. The real instrument vs. vsti quiz brought home to me that it wasn't so much about which sounded more realistic as it was about which sounded "better" or more appealing. In real life there are huge differences even among real instruments depending on the instruments used and the techniques/equipment by which they were recorded. A given recording may simply sound better to our ears. Now virtual instruments add another set of aesthetic choices. Regardless of how it was created, which sound do you like best.
  4. This frustrated me too after the last update. Here's what I found: right click the Taskbar and select "News and Interests" from the popup menu. You can shut it off from there. Not sure whether there's an unwanted service for it still running in the background somewhere.
  5. Significant hearing loss in one ear makes me mistrust my own choices in panning and levels during mixing. Has anybody else experimented with setting the master bus to mono occasionally to see if the levels of the different parts work that way? Maybe this brings the issue of panning laws into the equation.
  6. For a while now, my update settings page says version 21H1 is available whenever I want to download and install it. I've just been ignoring the message and taking the regular maintenance updates as they come along. How long Windows will let this go on before it forces the 21H1 update on me?
  7. Sorry to hear the news. Condolences to family and friends. . .
  8. Dan, when you say "muted" do you mean somewhat quieter or completely silent? If the sound is off entirely, then Cakewalk is probably sending a MIDI Local Off message to your Clavinova when it boots up. This message tells the Clavinova not to respond when its keys are played. If that's the case, you can set Cakewalk not to send this message.
  9. Thanks Promidi and Nigel. You've solved my problem. Much faster than editing events one by one in Event View!

    Cakewalk and Xpand!2

I just got Xpand!2 also. Works fine here. Have you double-checked the usual configuration settings: Input, MIDI channel, Input Echo=on, etc.?
  11. Thanks for the reply. I was just curious if this modification would be a simple thing to do, but please don't feel you have to spend any time on it.
  12. This is very helpful. Thanks! I don't really know anything about CAL programming, but looking at this script I was able to modify it to create KeyAft events. Would it be possible to add an input field so you can specify the note number for KeyAft?
  13. Sorry to hear the news, Shane. Hang in there. . .
  14. Good luck, Bill! Stay in touch.
  15. Good to know I'm not the only one.
  16. Also, be sure when you're playing your recorded tracks back that you mute the original MIDI to EZDrummer. Otherwise, you'll get some weird phase cancellations.
  17. Ray Charles performing America the Beautiful. So hopeful.
  18. Thanks! This was lots of fun. I wish I could hire them to do my background vocals.
  19. Also interested to hear other people's experiences. Everything I've tried so far has been disappointing.
  20. Thanks for all the helpful info. It's good to know more about how the system works and what to watch out for.
