  1. I've come the the conclusion that the name Next represents the next step up, if you're looking to step up from Bandlab's online or mobile DAWs. For some I imagine jumping from the online/mobile stuff to CbB or Sonar would be a huge jump. Next kinda fills the position that Cakewalk Home Studio did from Guitar Studio back in the day.

It has is handy if you like to audition midi files without more clicks to open up a VST.

A new GM synth shouldn't be too tall of an order for a future Sonar update. In fact the synth engine used to preview midi in Bandlab assistant (before they removed it ) wasn't half bad.  Side note, I had hoped Loopcloud would add something like that to preview midi too.

    This.

If you can't manage to scrimp and save to put +/- $100 together, you might want to rethink your priorities.

In somebodies defense, sometime you just spent a huge whop on the PC/Laptop and a set of decent speakers and you think maybe I should give this music thing a try now that I have a decent computer setup. You know, give it a go before I invest even more money on specialized gear and peripherals. Just saying.

I don't think there were any last year. (Previously yes.) Any reason to think there are this year?

Didn't they do a limited time re-do for Ostinato Brass, Strings and Woodwinds? For those who missed it in previous years (you could only choose one though).

    Anyways, it’s Kontakt (Player) 7.
I guess that version doesn’t require devs to pay NI much. That’s why we’re seeing more and more free Kontakt Player libs.

I've thought this to myself for a while now. Way more free options lately for Kontakt Player 7 than any other version before.

In practice, I don't see much traction in those happening simply because the page has so little information on the plugins if any. Even the screenshots for the plugins are the same for all of them.

I felt the same at 1st but the KVR link is really helpful in that regard.
